So you feel like bustin' up some vampires

(Totally because [livejournal.com profile] last_the_month doesn't have Backroom access)

Alright, so how many of you have read "30 days of night?"

How many of you have seen the movie starring Josh Hartnett (which despite his presence was actually rasonable?)

How many of you like the idea of gettin' your inner vampire slayer on?

I need Two to four volunteers who have experience battling the supernatural and can take a cold-weather climate. If you've got other plots to worry 'bout or things you want to get done first? Don't fret. This is the ideal plot for the "I'm busy at college" or "I'm busy working" rper because I too am...well...busy.

This'd probably be three-to-four major ooms in length and require a week or so to complete (when I last did the math) Although there's the opportunity to do some major damage if you want to affect your pup in such a manner.

What I need are Two muscle-for-Hire types and an expert in Lore who'd be willing to head to Barrow and investigate the vampires. The easiest way to have the storyline play out? There are twice as many vamps as there should be in Barrow, making it a hell of alot more dangerous.

The only problem is your character would need to be gone for at least a week if not more. Eben is convinced that the easiest way to keep people safe is to hide from them not to mention these vampires are stronger then they look.

What you're up against: Twenty Five to Thirty individuals with power, wealth, beauty, and endless hunger. You can stake a buffy vamp, but the only way to take out these guys is to seperate the head from the body or drag them into sunlight. Not to mention that one of the vampires has been turning townsfolk, so you'd probably have to help protect the remaining eight townspeople (out of 152) from their own.

Gore? You haven't seen anything yet. These guys don't just drink blood they devour flesh and enjoy it.

Slowtime is a must.

Intrigued? Have questions? I'm here! :D

Ahem.

I believe this pup qualifies. She's protected from cold by her Nth metal, and she'll smash the shit out of vampires if she can get close enough. She has flight as an advantage, and she won't mind getting banged up/realistically injured in the process, either. She's experienced in all kinds of supernatural bizarreness, and brings to bear the kind of Frontier Justiceā„¢ that could perhaps only be matched by giving Attila the Hun a machine gun. In other words, send her out into the trenches and protect thy face from blood spray.

I have this image of Hawkgirl versus a vampire, given that these vampires tend to jump.

This might make her an intense target and this particular strain of vampirism is passed on via scratches and bites. How would she deal with that?

Question.

[identity profile] kali921.livejournal.com 2007-11-09 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
She'd cover at least her forearms and neck with armour, for one thing. In fact, once she's told that these vampires have jumping capability and that skin debridement is a vector of infection, she'll likely show up in full metal armour, from head-to-toe, including helmet. Her eyes are always covered anyway, at least for Milliways purposes. But even if she wasn't, I doubt she'd have much of a problem, given how fast she can move.

Kendra has five thousand years of combat experience to draw upon. She's been attacked, when alone, by a horde of ravening magically-animated zombies and successfully fought her way out, leaving a trail of bloody carnage behind her. She's fought against the legions of bloodsucking undead before, too. The last magical vampire entity that got in her way wound up being cloven in two vertically. But on the other hand, she has no inherently grandiose superpowers other than greatly augmented healing ability (she's survived impalement and partial evisceration easily) and augmented strength, speed, and senses from her Nth metal, so she's vulnerable to impact blows, of course, but much less so than your baseline human.

And believe me, she'll be armed for bear. If the only way to kill them is decapitation, she's bringing swords, knives, flail and/or mace, and every single bladed weapon she can get her hand on and still be able to move with when it's strapped on.

Question: for purposes of this fight, how much of 30 Days of Night canon are you incorporating vis a vis vampire vulnerabilities? Are you deeming that the only way to kill them is decapitation? Will splattering vampire brains fifty feet with a mace work? Because some of 30DON canon shows that the vampires can be killed with explosives, etc.

PS

PS - Kendra won't mind being a target. Really. In fact, she'll volunteer to help deliberately draw them out, if that's needed, and again, she won't mind getting banged up in the process. Kendra Saunders: ride or die chick.

Iiiii've got two pups who are used to decapitating undead things. Though really, [livejournal.com profile] takeusnorth is the only one who's actually useful in a combat situation. >.>

I will be spending this entire evening going "Wesker? Or Bubbles?"

I can tell already.

Well, That was a given. :D

... *tempted*

*waves* I'd love to get Ryan [personal profile] captainryan in on this. He's been dying to get into a sitch where he could actually use his sword. Issues: he's dead. Unless you decide the rules for the world are different, he'll fade after three days to essentially a ghost. This, however, may be useful. Spying, anyone? (The werewolf thing? I leave to you the phase of moon.)

Alternatively, there is also Roxton [personal profile] lostworldhunter who, at this point in canon, probably has about as much experience fighting the supernatural as Ryan does only he's been way more successful, mostly because he didn't die the first time. He's also been a vampire (he got better!), which would be something interesting to play with.

Both of these guys are your muscle for hire types.

[identity profile] blackswanevent.livejournal.com 2007-11-09 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
....Would he be a werewolf ghost?

[identity profile] captainryan.livejournal.com 2007-11-10 12:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes? Unless you want to work out particular world rules.

If he'd actually be able to affect anything as a ghost, I again leave to you. *cheerful* Your world, your rules.

The good news: Dominic has experience with the undead and the supernatural.
The bad news: He's next to useless in physical combat.

I don't suppose you'd have any use for a gimpy seer with a strong background in various forms of magic?

I've got this world with next-to-no magic-that'd be the only problem. How's his magic work?

[identity profile] grumpyseer.livejournal.com 2007-11-10 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Good question. Canon is more than a little vague on that...

. . . *also tempted*

I dunno how good Tom is at decapitation, though. Headshots from a distance are more his speed.

Hawkgirl and Tom, Vampire Hunters

[identity profile] kali921.livejournal.com 2007-11-09 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, god, bring in Tom! He and Kendra can be a team. I can picture it now: he can fly with her (she can carry someone easily when she flies), and they can pick off vampires at their leisure.

Don't worry, she'll totally save him if he gets caught, too. :-) Or vice versa, I hope! Kendra doesn't use guns, so she'll be mightily impressed when Tom whips out the shotgun and starts sending vampires straight to their maker.

Gimme a second while I fix the short-circuits in his brain at the idea of being carried around by a spandex-clad superheroine while kicking undead ass.

*smacks him upside the head*

Okay, we're good.

. . . What the hell, throw Tom's name in the pot. A plot for those busy at college sounds just about perfect. :D

C'mon, Tom. It'll be fun, and more importantly, it'll be for great justice.

I'll bring you goggles to protect your eyes from the wind. I'd hate to have your eyeballs shrivel up while we're flying close to Mach 1.

I've never dropped anyone by accident, either. Now, as for dropping them on purpose...

*cough*

Well, Piotr turns into metal, and he is from Siberia...

I am preliminarily intrigued, anyway. :)
