The "AIM Critical Fail" alternate contact list
AIM is a whore. AIM is a crackwhore with syphilis who sucks, doesn't swallow, then overcharges you for "services" rendered. We seem to have a backroom crackTHREAD thingy going for people who can't access chat, but I propose a list of alternate contact info everyone can post to right here and be sure it's all up-to-date, since the Milliways contact info thingy is not necessarily reliable. Firstly...
Sites that provide messenging services:
AIM main site
AIM Express, which can be run without downloading AIM
Yahoo messenger
MSN messenger
Google Talk messenger
Gmail, which has a messenger feature you just use from your main E-Mail page.
Chatspike, for java-based IRC access without downloading an IRC client
Trillian, which will connect to multiple existing AIM/other messenger accounts.
Meebo, which does the same thing as Trillian but without having to download anything. In my experience, it's much easier to use.
If I left anything out, tell me in comments and I'll stick it on here.
For people who use AIM as their main messenger, like I do, my current experience is this:
1. If AIM will not connect to one screen name, it may connect to another, so try creating a second screen name.
2. Meebo is the best alternate connection route for AIM names. It looks and functions just like AIM does and keeps your IM windows in one single internet window.
3. If you can't connect to any of your AIM handles, creating a Gmail account is a quick, easy way to set up a non-AIM-based instant messenger alternative.

Characters: Dr. Malcolm Crowe; Agents K and Zed; Toby Ziegler; Angel and Wesley Wyndham-Pryce; Danny Ocean; Rick Deckard
Plots/Groups you have pups involved with: Malcolm is on the medical staff, both as a psychiatrist and a physician (nothing like surgery, but he's handled emergencies and even delivered babies). I also have more Plot involving his Milli-ancestor, Catherine Crowe, which I'm planning for sometime this winter.
The Men in Black are still caught up in the Black Oil Plot which has been going on for nearly two years now, and will soon be heating up again. There will also soon be a Rollerball tournament for any insane Milliways pup who wants to take part. And there are always a couple minor subplots going on too.
Angel and Wesley are in a holding pattern until Illyria can return to the game (her mun has very good RL reasons for being away), when there will be Plot, Plot, Plot!
Danny Ocean is on hold until a future casino Plot happens. But Rick Deckard will be coming in later this month, and I'll eventually have him try out for Security.
