Mine are all more or less evil, but right now for Mal/Inara it's 'Under the Gun' by the Killers, for Mal/Inara during movie-canon.

Yes... funny thing is, I have more songs for this pairing than any other, and they haven't even gotten together in-bar yet.

SLOW MUNS ARE SLOW but we must to it right because we are canon perfectionists.

Therem/Genly

Possession (http://youtube.com/watch?v=1IQLg0auZfQ), a very Therem song. I actually prefer the more melodic version for him, because -- it's SO Therem. It suits him. It has this quiet, even repetition of melody, simple, soft, gentle, and that same unassuming gentleness saying "And I would be the one to hold you down, kiss you so hard it takes your breath away..." The tone of the singer in that line is so very hushed and almost reverent, it takes you a moment to process what she just said and go WAIT WHUT. And that's very Therem. He quite clearly has this incredibly intense love for Arek, and for Ashe, and for his children, but it only comes through in negatives -- he expresses it only in a desire to hide it, or a passing mention as something not there. One gradually builds something like a shadow-concept of this great passion of Therem's -- by groping in the dark and paying close attention lest one misses the hints between the lines. Therem, it seems, is as deeply passionate a lover as ever there was -- and yet, he is so starkly reserved, it's difficult to imagine. But then one remembers -- the shape of his whole life has been driven by his love for Arek. He left Estre for Arek's sake, and for their son's. He writes to his son in canon -- one gets the impression that he does so regularly. When Genly bespeaks him using telepathy, he hears Arek's voice. The last word he speaks as he dies is his brother's name. But this song I like for him and Genly, because... it fits so well into this one scene in canon where Therem is in kemmer as a woman, in a tent with Genly, and they have to make a decision whether or not to carry their relationship that one, simple step further and be together as sexual partners as well as spiritual partners, and they decide not to. Even though they both clearly want that. So there's this mournfulness about a love song for them because they know that they HAVE to decide not to be lovers, and they both know it's (probably) the right decision, but... it's a hard thing to decide. And maybe it's enough that all they do is know they both wish it could be different.

Another song I love for them is Take Me As I Am (http://youtube.com/watch?v=ebt5mieZ4Gw) by The October Project. What really makes this song beautiful for this scene is the two different singers. The main singer is a woman with a fascinatingly androgynous voice -- sounds kind of like a woman trying to sing as a man. The second singer is very clearly female. They both have very rich voices and it's almost like a kind of duet with Therem the androgyne and Therem in kemmer as female -- both driven towards a connection with Genly, one driven by love, the other by lust. So much of this song is so perfect, but there's one part:

That's Therem. Genly's perpetual enigma.

I actually have an anti-song for Draco and Mia: Pansy (You Are the Girl of My Dreams) by Draco and the Malfoys I couldn't hear that song without dying of laughter before, but Milliways makes it damn near impossible to play it willingly.

As for a song for them, I seem to be leaning towards stuff by The Beatles/Paul McCartney. The two that really come to mind are Maybe I'm Amazed as a serious one and When I'm 64 for adorable giggles.
