Our usual host is caught in traffic (the kind with cars, not the kind with Steve Winwood), so I am filling in.

I have often suggested that I would love to app Ringo Starr from any of the Beatles films. And we have had a few real people from works of fiction such as Kit Marlowe and Lawrence of Arabia. So I ask, is there a fictionalized version of a famous person you want to play, or to see in the Bar?

How close does that GNeil comic you mentioned in your LJ last week come to being the real Alice Cooper?

Define "The Real Alice Cooper".

The character in the comic is the Showman/Triggerman/Black Widiw/Whatever from Alice's stage and music - the 'character' Alice created by the musician of the same name.

OTOH there's the muasician as portrayed in Wayne's World.

Hmmm. So you could then argue that the Alice Cooper who showed up on The Muppet Show and tried to get the cast to sell their souls to Satan is the "real" Alice too.

Very likely. Given that Alice Cooper the musician is a golf-playing Christian, the Satan's Salesman teen-tempter is clearly a fictional character.

I just don't know if I could pull him off, or if he counts in anyone's head but mine.

We could have the five not'BobDylans from that weird new film, I'm Not There. Or Cole Porter from the film Kiss Me, Kate, which is already the single most meta Broadway musical ever with its play-within-a-play and with a lead character strangely and coincidentally named Lois Lane.

We could and should also have some more fictional musicians, like Spinal Tap and the Rutles.
