Calling all Wildstorm muns (and fans, for that matter)

Since we don't have nearly enough seven-thousand-year-old aliens in bar, or nearly enough Wildstorm universe action, say hello to Zealot, your new fun loving resident Kheran, former Majestrix of the Coda, battle sister to Grifter, ace swordswoman, and Wildc.a.t.s member (for those of us that managed to survive reading Image in the nineties with our sanity relatively intact). She'll be entering bar soon after some pre-Milliways plotting gets completed with another character.

I noted on the cast list that we have a few other Wildstormverse characters listed (Winter, Apollo, and Midnighter) - are any of you Wildstorm muns still active? And if so, hello! Zealot and I would love to thread with your characters. We'd also like to thread with everyone else, too!

On a random and amusing side note, Keith Giffens apparently thinks that Zealot can take on Superman.

Edit: Aaand I forgot to mention that Zealot is coming into bar from the middle of Wildc.a.t.s. Vol. 2, and will work her way through canon. Needless to say, there will be lots of explosions.

Oooh. Zealot was one of my favorites. *used to watch the cartoon* *had a Grifter doll too at one point* Cause he was my all time favorite. And I think I even read a few of the comics. I can't remember it was so long ago. But her, her I remember rather well.

She's kind of hard to overlook, isn't she? :-) But oh, god, the Wildcats cartoon is so bad when you go back and look at it again after a few years. I strongly suggest you read Joe Casey's Wildcats 3.0, which ran for twenty four issues from 2003 - 2005. It is a megalith of awesome, (http://community.livejournal.com/scans_daily/2059997.html) and really played with concepts that no other superhero comic had touched before. It was full of sophisticated brinksmanship, corporate politics, thundering action scenes, and of course every few issues Grifter would have to blast some fools and/or Zealot would show up to cut a bitch, to quote

Grifter/Zealot has been one of my enduring formerly-togther-now-with-UST OTPs.

Dumbest crossover idea ever, Zealot fighting Superman, because they've no reason for fighting at all. But then again, covers lie to us, like lying liars who lie. If anything, Zealot and Clark would sit and talk for six hours about both being stranded aliens trying to save humanity, rather than fight.

But, Clark would defintiely say bring it to chatting about alien stuff. Of course, he'd do more listening than chatting, but you get the idea.

You think the SV Kryptonians are bad? Given that SV basically raped a somewhat utopian (at least, going by the last retcon in Superman continuity) society for the purposes of generating Clark!Emo?

Wait until you hear what WS and (I can't believe I'm typing this last part of the sentence) and Alan Moore did to the Kherubim.

Midnighter's been deleted long ago by me, I have no idea if Apollo was, it's just never made it onto the cast list. Sorry. *g*

Winter and Apollo got adopted by the same person unless things changed without me knowing it, so I'll direct her here to see what she says on that. (Unless she sees it first!)

Midnighter's still on the cast list. Ah, well, I was so hoping for him.

Please do direct Winter and Apollo mun here! I mean, Zealot should bump into the son that she's never publicly acknowledged, right? Plus, I adore both Winter and Apollo.

O hay. O_O I was originally slated to play Winter and Apollo, though nothing much ever came of it. Apollo was supposed to have been deleted, to be honest, since you can't really have him without having Mids around as well, and Mids was deleted. They're a matched set like that and all.

Winter was also ostensibly deleted (for similar reasons), though I dunno if the mods ever got that memo. I might be persuaded to reactivate him, though, if he's still in the cast list. :3

He's still on the cast list. Well, I'd love a Winter to play against, and I have it on very good authority (no pun intended) that we now have a Grifter, too.

What can I do to persuade you? :-) Cake? Pie?

Poor Nikolas. The last Authority and Stormwatch meet up, as of last week (or was it the week before?), did not go so well for his, ah, nether regions.

Oh god, I saw that, yeah. D: Not only one of the UGLIEST Winters I have ever seen, but the man does not deserve to get slammed in the tender parts like that!

Let me read through what I've missed of the latest Wildstorm stuff (I was so turned off by Authority v.3 and SW:PHD that I've fallen behind), and think about picking him back up. When I apped him there was none of the new material, so I'd need to decide whether to play him according to that, mess with him to let him fit into new canon, or simply boot him back in continuity to before he got roasted in the sun.

I should also warn you that while I utterly adore Nik, I've never played him before, so you'd be dealing with a n00b in terms of that. And it can take me a while to really settle into my groove with a character.

Whee! There is hope! :-) Well, I'm very flexible, so playing fast and loose with canon and ignoring the vile parts is fine with me. As I mentioned above, I'm bringing in Zealot from mid vol. 2, so she's not contemporaneous with current canon yet, if that helps? And there's lots of room to play! There's a few things that have happened in Zealot's canon that I just ignore in my RPing.

Authority vol. 3 was horrid, and Stormwatch: PHD I can't even look at without crying. Christos Gage should not be allowed to touch the Wildstormverse anymore, except for maybe Midnighter. Wildcats vol. 4 started out SO promisingly, but a year and half later, we're still waiting for Morrison to get his ass in gear and write the second issue. So bah, I say.

I'm convinced you'll write a splendiferous Winter. Plus, c'mon, Kherans need to stick together. Even if one of them doesn't quite know the specifics of his Kheran heritage. :-)

Okay, I should probably stop kidding myself. I'll contact the mods tonight and if things go according to plan, you've got your Winter.

I'll probably bump him back in canon so that I have some non-sucky stuff to work with (I was so delighted when Ellis took over), though I may require a crash-course in how the various story lines (StormWatch, Wildcats, Gen-13, etc.) all tie together, since I'm definitely not as up to speed on the other series as I should be. I'm thinking right at the beginning with Ellis, back when Bendix refined the organisation into Prime, Red and Black and dismissed everyone else.

Wonderful! I have a feeling that this will be very, very fun, once we get into the swing of things. Watching Nik work through Elliswatch canon will be fun. I'm perfectly happy to keep Zealot's timeline sort of vague at first, so they sync up in terms of where they in continuity. Actually, now that I think about it, the middle of volume 2 of Wildcats is only a year or two real time ahead of where Winter would be coming in.

...she scowls a lot doesn't she? Also, if I had any way of getting decent comic books short of heading way downtown, I would totally pick up any recommended volumes because seeing the cover for that crossover really made me wonder who the hell all these people were.
