Father Francis Mulcahy ([personal profile] cheerychaplain) wrote in [community profile] ways_back_room2007-02-03 01:58 pm

(no subject)

There is a new sign in the bar. What it means: Father Mulcahy is more than willing to hold Mass; perform baptisms, weddings, etc; hear Confession; or just listen. If this is something your pup would take advantage of or would want to do, we can handwave or thread things; I am reachable on AIM at bohemian inuit, or by email at not.an.effing.barbie-at-gmail.com. Contact me and working things out can commence! All I would say, as a disclaimer, is that I think the idea has a lot of potential and is something he very much wanted to do, but as for me: I am doing my absolute flaily best (books and the internet are my friends; my memory is not), but am a very lapsed Catholic, and definitely not a priest. If you happen to be in the know and see something wrong, please, do let me know. Thanks! :D

I'm totally using the wrong journal, but at the end of March, Sara and Mark will be getting married. Mulcahy will be approached about officiating. :D!

Peter's not usually Bound these days, but he'd likely be interested. He's the only one these days since I dropped Scully who obviously was.

Nathan Petrelli, well, the last name suggests it, but the family doesn't seem that religious, or for all I know they've converted to become lapsed Protestants instead of lapsed Catholics. Canon's still vague on a lot of things for him and his brother. >.>

As for myself, I don't consider myself one anymore for various personal reasons, but I was raised with it. And still familiar with a lot of rituals and prayers. So feel free to ask me questions as needed.

I'm also using the completely wrong journal, but I've been playing [livejournal.com profile] md_donighal (tag: divis mal) as a lapsed Catholic based on his Irish surname; whether he's ready to confess to the Mulcahy is as debatable as whether the Mulcahy's ready for him, but it's a definite possibility.

The Silver Corporal has all the personal background in his canon of Arabella Figg, pre-book 5. The background I put together for him includes a Catholic upbringing, though, and he's been on the trail a good long while. He'll be wanting to talk to a priest at some point.

Thank you. :)

OOH, YES. Those break me every time I read them.

And dammit, have been intending to have Jack tag Mulcahy for ages but I seem to be narcoleptic or have stuff on the go when he's in. Mental note: MUST TAG.

Eee, yes; do! And I'll keep an eye out for Jack EPs!

Would you be willing to give Belle an hour to confess? She's had a hard time going to church, but she could use it.

But I'm serious about it taking an hour. She's a assassin, and thorough by nature.

Cool, thanks! You got time today?

Unfortunately, one thread's about all I can handle today, and I've already got that going; homework and all. I'm usually free most weeknights (EST), though, and weekends. :)

ok! maybe monday. Thanks again!

Well, you know. Atheist playing Catholic who is very firmly convinced she is going to hell.

It could be very interesting.

*eyes pups* I don't think any of my current pups are likely to take up the offer, but if you have questions about Catholicism, I'll happily answer them to best of my ability. And if I don't know, I'll ask my Catholic-of-50+-years mother, and she definitely will. *grin*

I think this is a very cool idea, btw.

That'd be awesome; it's been a long time since Catholic school, and definitely almost as long since I went to church. The internets can only tell me so much! Thank you! :D

I... wish I had someone who this would be of use to. (Well, other than the aforementioned wedding)

Come to think of it, Valentine might take him up on it. Her world outlawed religion, but she's always secretly been fascinated by catholicism and that whole sort of thing. Hmmm. I shall ponder.

I think this is a fascinating idea.

I also very much would like to have a conversation or multiple between Mulcahy and Gabriel Tam, as I think this has both good character development possibilities and seriously plot-shaped ones.

Aspenx3 on AIM, as you know, and aspen-at-silveraspen-dot-net on email. I will look for you as well!

Oh, yeah, I suspect that could be all kinds of interesting! I'm usually around most weeknights and weekends; will IM/shoot an email if we don't seem to be hooking up. :)

I have been eagerly wishing to thread with Mulcahy, so I'll send you an email. In my AU-verse for Tom, written before the last book came out with all the pseky issues, he was raised in a Catholic orphanage. He also is still puzzling out a lot of his redemption issues; he's made it a far, far way, but a recent discussion with Mary Lennox brought some things to the fore that he likes to not think about. So yay!

Ooh, bring him by Bernard sometime, for the existential musings and for the funny anecdotes about being kind of the captain of the ship and therefore being asked to officiate at marriages.

He said no.

=))

Well.

April took a shine to him last time. And he got her thinking about God.

I don't know if Suzanne or Audrey are religious. (I'm thinking maybe for the former and a resounding NO for the latter. But I've been wrong before.)

Hee. Don't think he's getting a convert, but he's most likely gonna get hit up by a clumsy attempt at confession next time she sees him.

I adore her. She's so... quirky. I almost wouldn't be surprised if she did convert. XD

[identity profile] politestpirate.livejournal.com 2007-02-04 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
Bwah. I've been looking for excuses/reasons, specially when Archie Kennedy'mun and I were commiserating that he and Wellard would have been better off without the doctor on their last ship, and had a chaplan instead.

And now, particularly in the light of some questions Mary was asking Wellard? This should be fun. ^_^

I seem to be hearing a lot of mentions of Mary and her questions. XD Sounds great!

Sheesh- Mary may just be sent to talk to the Father, on the subject of that survey. *grin*
