Since it appears I'm gonna be working late that night, my plans involve the feast of St. Mark Downs instead. Celebrated four times a year, on February 15th, Easter Monday, November 1st and December 26th, the feast of St. Mark Downs is a day for buying arseloads of candy at half off the original price and sticking it in your freezer for use at a later date.

You mean St. Valentine's Day?

Because while the day has lost most of Christian connections, religious Jews don't observe it. And the coincidental choice of Feb. 14 as the date of Batya's sister's wedding (as it was on a date they wanted on the Jewish calendar) only served to drive up flower prices.

That said, look for Knox and Rapunzel's sweet little OOM tomorrow. He's such a mush sometimes.

She got it from co-workers. The catering hall, however, was very, very Jewish - it was a yeshiva that did events on Sunday night deep in Brooklyn.

The nice part was that the wedding was also the day before Presidents' Day, so I got to recover the next day. And it was also before our wedding and we got to see what to expect from the florist and photographer (we used the same ones).

And now I am recalling that was also the week "Storm of the Century" was on ABC. King's Valentine's Day gift to his fans, no doubt.

We need a "totally non-denominational symbol of romantic and/or platonic love" day for those of us that roll our eyes at Valentine's. Something like...something like..."I <3 U" day.

Besides, Valentine's day is marketed now with such a heavy subtext of "if you don't have a significant other, you're nothing but a lonely loser that will die alone and unloved in a basement apartment while playing WOW. BUY OUR CANDY!"

A batch of vegan vanilla buttercream frosting
Pink food coloring
Pink Barbie sprinkles (shut up, my mom sent them to me)
A spoon.

(I say 'a spoon,' but I am sure it will turn into multiple spoons. There are many single-and-depressed-about-it people in this apartment.)

Oh oh oh I have an idea for DE tomorrow. The theme for DE tomorrow should be love (or lust) letters that your pups never got/will get, or love letters that your pup should get. Or love letters that other people want to send your pups.
