Emergency Daily Entertainment Day 2 : The Bethan Version

What are you listening to right now? What should everyone else be listening to?

And what colour(s) should I paint my nails?

ETA: Off out now for a couple of hours. Talk amongst yourselves!

So, uh, 'a couple of hours' kinda turned into seven. And a half. Whups. Was partly my fault, and partly not. Ah well!

YOUR ICON IS LOVE!

Okay, very quickly before I go to dinner - I am listening to the Passion of Christ soundtrack. No intention of seeing the movie for any number of reasons, but the soundtrack is pretty damn kickass.

And...*thinks* Hmm. Violet, lets say.

I'm listening to the building site next door, and to my cat trying to tell me that the wet food I gave him today isn't really to his liking, and I shouldn't buy it again. As for music recommendations: I'm into all sorts of odd folksy/medieval crossover thinggies at the moment, from Jethro Tull to Korpiklaani.

As for the nail colour, I feel nails are best painted pale this summer. Pale pink to non-opaque white.

I'm listening to people yell as the dog gets hyperactive and tries to literally walk all over them. It's remarkably therapeutic. For me, not them.

my 'recently added' playlist, which includes: a bunch of covers I'm not yet enamoured of (there might be some good ones) and Black Sabbath/Ozzy live albums. I was compiling versions of Iron Man from my flatmate's music collection.

Each one a different colour.

The last thing I listened to is the news. Before that, the Mets game last night. There are times when I am not particularly musically minded. And I am the last person who can or should make recommendations, being cheerfully out of touch with the contemporary music scene.

Right now? Nothing, but the tap tap tapping of someone typing in the other room.

It's kind of nice.

Let's see -- recently I purchased "Green Cosmos" by Deerhoof, "Venus on Earth" by Dengue Fever, "Serial Girlfriend" by Holly Golightly, and "A Few Steps More" by Monade.

Yep.

*listens to the hum of the fiche room computers*

Music-wise, I've been binging on System of a Down from my iPod recently.

...mainly so I don't fall asleep on my train home.

Also, I agree with the purple nails suggestion.

I must admit, I've been listening to a bit of Scars on Broadway of late. Embarrassedly.

I am listening to the hum of computers/printers/lots of voices right now, because I am training someone and can't listen to my iPod. D: (She is away from the desk at the moment. :D!!!) But I am listening obsessively to the Iron Man soundtrack; I haven't taken it out of the car since I burned it to CD. SO. BADASS.

Worst driving soundtrack ever, because I just stomp on the gas, but still!

"Throwing Stones", by the Grateful Dead. I leave my iPod on random shuffle most of the day, so it bounces through about seven hundred songs. Small collection compared to a lot of people, but it's enough to make me happy.

I'd say go for sparkly light green. I'm big on sparkly.

Listening to the bootleg of this. Soon I will be listening to the bootleg of the following evening. They are BEST. <33333

When I am not listening to Wilco (it happens! for srs!) John Doe's A Year in the Wilderness has been on pretty steady rotation in the car.

I'm listening to SPACEAPE, who will clean your effin' SKULL.

What else. Er. The sound of the tea kettle freaking out, Misanthrop, Gutter Twins, Kode 9, Telemetrik, and, oddly, Blood Red Shoes. That's what I've listened to since I woke up twenty five minutes ago.

Toes? Anything goes, baby. I like a nice soft coral for the toes in summer.

Edit: Oh, and I had to pull out some X Japan since they just did reunion gigs in Japan. I wonder if Sugizo dyed his hair pink for the event, since he was playing in hide's stead.

Been listening to Preston and Steve's Morning show on WMMR, a show based out of Philadelphia, but about to switch over to University of Pennsylvania's station since they do a good mix of music you normally wouldn't hear.

I'll pass along what I mentioned in chat last night, people should get a hold of some of Julian Lennon's music. He's a talented artist in his own right.

Also Kate Bush and since I just bolstered my collection of hers, Loreena McKennitt.

nail color, hmmm metallic blue?

I recommend, on a completely unbiased note, the Zodiac soundtracks. Either one is good -- the one by David Shire, or the one with the old pop songs that can be heard on the radio throughout the movie.

And, umm... Fountains of Wayne.

I also endorse the Iron Man soundtrack.

Jonathan Coulton, at the moment. I changed my Facebook status last night to "I feel fantastic, and I've never felt as good as how I do right now except for maybe . . ." and two different people have gone "WHY ARE YOU SO HAPPY???"

My iPod on shuffle, so it's everything from one-hit wonders of the 90s to Chet Baker. Sister Hazel, right this very second.

I like classic fire-engine red, myself. Or black. Of course, I think the last time I painted my nails was my sister's wedding eight years ago.

I recently replaced my stolen iPod (which was snatched 3 days before my birthday, but not replaced until after my vacation due to money concerns) and right now I am listen to Wolfstone off it. It is the Year of the Dog album, and currently playing is Morag's Reel.

They're a good little celt-rock band. I like them.

What I am listening to: people talking in the hallways.

What I want to be listening to, and thus you should for me: Antje Duvekot. Or Vienna Teng or Dar Williams, but Antje's song "Anna" is what's running through my head at the moment.

You should paint your nails something sparkly! So should I, one of these days. Hrm.
