getting to knoooow you...

Hi folks! I can't remember the last time one of these was done (and given that I am relatively sure that I am the one who posted it, that's probably not a great thing), and we have had an influx of fabulous new players since then, so I think it is time once again for

THE GRAND 'GET TO KNOW YOUR FELLOW PLAYERS' POST!

The way this works is simple. You make a comment with whatever information you would like to share (examples that may be helpful: name, mun-journal name, characters played, journaling habits, likes, dislikes, favorite breed of puppy...), and then have conversations with people, and friend people/be friended if you should so choose! These posts are always an awesome excuse to get to know that person who you have been fangirling from afar for ages and have been wanting to friend, but maybe you have been too shy to say hi and need an excuse. Consider this post your excuse!

Mun journal: [livejournal.com profile] sotto_voice
I play: Lots of characters! Iella Wessiri, Tycho Celchu, and Plourr Estillo from Star Wars: X-Wing, Father Mulcahy and Hawkeye Pierce from M*A*S*H, Dennis Doyle from Run, Fatboy, Run, Riley Poole from National Treasure, Maya Antares from The Red Star, and Pippin Took from The Lord of the Rings, and I'm possibly hoping to add a character from Iron Man to the mix, this next go-around.

I tend to post at least once a day, often about RL things, which, at the moment, mostly include family, friends, New England, the Boston Red Sox, and formatting insurance questionnaires in a cubicle. In the fall, the last part, at least, will shift back to flailing about the last year of undergrad, my senior thesis, anthropology, and applying to graduate school. My journal will probably also contain some measure of discussion of structural violence, institutionalized racism, and Rwanda, due to the aforementioned senior thesis.

On a less serious note, I also write a lot about fandom, RP, and cracky things. At the moment, that's mostly Iron Man (the movie and the comics) and Bones. Other fandoms include but are not limited to The Office (both versions), Hot Fuzz, Spaced, Black Books, the Star Wars extended universe, The Red Star, Sherlock Holmes, and your mom.

I think I kind of have to friend you, especially since we have The Office, Hot Fuzz, Star Wars and Bones in common. :)

O HAI.

I'm Heather (or Hat, since there are so many Heathers here) and I play these pups.

I talk about a lot of stuff on my journal, mostly things involving college (which I won't mention for the next two months, probably) and my dreams. They are often very strange and I tend to remember them in detail, so it makes for some awesome morning entertainment! Things I also talk about a lot: Nova Scotia, things going on at my alma mater, my pets, stage managing, and things going on here in my home in New Jersey.

Um. Um.

That's all I've got right now. *is getting ready for prom, swears that if she breathes in any more hairspray she'll pass out*

Mun journal: This one!
I play: Sylar (Heroes), Cindy "Mac" Mackenzie (Veronica Mars), and, in theory, Mercer/Hermes (Greco-Roman mythology).

My posting habits have been kind of erratic lately: sometimes I'll post multiple times a day, other times I'll go nearly a week without updating. Almost all of the RL posts are under lock. The fannish stuff, on the other hand, hangs out in the open for everyone to see -- I follow at least a half-dozen TV shows (Heroes being the most prominent one, but SPN, Doctor Who, Ugly Betty, Pushing Daisies, and BSG have all popped up at some point or other) and enjoy talking about them and their fannish activities when I get the chance. Sometimes there's even fanfic and vids to go with it!

As far as the RL stuff goes? Right now, unfortunately, I'm in the middle of a very frustrating job hunt, so I talk (and vent) about that a lot -- I hope to God it'll stop soon, though. I also moved to Denver about two months ago, which means wide-eyed newbie stuff like, "Hey, look at how pretty Colorado is! :D" pops up every so often. Discussion of current events...doesn't happen as much as I'd like, but when it does, it's usually got some kind of library/information science bent to it. (You can take the girl out of grad school, but... *sheepish grin*)

Oh, yeah, and I've got an RP filter, so if you friend me and go, "Yo! I'm from Milliways!", I'll go, "Yo! Here's my Milliways babbling!" and add you to said filter. :D

Name: Sweeney Agonistes is the internet handle (no, it has nothing to do with either Sondheim or John Milton; it's Eliot's), and I treat it like a first and last name. So call me Sweeney. :D
Mun journal: [livejournal.com profile] agonistes
I play: Many and several -- I've been here on a regular basis since fall 2004. Current roster includes (and is not limited to) Kaylee Frye, Bobby Singer, Al Swearengen, Dale Cooper, Bill Adama, Angela Petrelli, and Claude Raines.

There is not enough coriander in my lentil soup today, and I'm disappointed.

I graduated from a tiny women's liberal arts college just east of Atlanta (where I spent teenage years; I grew up in Louisville, Kentucky) last May, and last January I moved out to Denver, Colorado. I work as a financial aid officer at a school you've never heard of (and I'm not telling you what it is anyway, so neener). If you are heading to college, currently in college, or have student loan issues, please feel free to ask me questions -- I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I know more than the average joe about Department of Ed regulations, alternate sources of student loan funding, who you need to talk to in order to get stuff done, how to get into and out of default, the FAFSA, et cetera.

I wrote my senior thesis on Stephen King's Dark Tower novels, and that is entirely due to Milliways. No joke. In a couple of years I plan to continue in graduate school, switching from English to American Studies, and I want to study Westerns. As in the genre. The eventual goal is to teach, do research, and save the world, not necessarily in that order.

Know me for about five seconds and you will figure out that I have a ridiculous, all-encompassing love for the band Wilco. I talk about them a lot -- faint efforts at criticism (I find most rock criticism to be absolutely appalling and utterly misguided), including textual and historical. I do the same thing with the American South, and the West. Every now and again I talk about current events -- recent topics include the ongoing custody case in Texas related to the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, for example. Sometimes there's religion as well; I was raised as a Unitarian Universalist, and I've recently started attending a church here in Denver, so I'll talk about that.

And of course, there is fandom -- Wilco counts in sheer terms of geekiness, but I'm also into David Lynch, Battlestar Galactica, Supernatural, Ugly Betty, Doctor Who and Torchwood, The Office (fairly recently), Ninja Warrior (not that it has much of a fandom that I've found), and... stuff. That is only the film-visual stuff, even, and only the fandoms that I've briefly dabbled in. I'm a media junkie; the list is long. :D

My journal's pretty RL-heavy, and as such, I like to restrict it to people I know from somewhere -- and Milliways definitely applies! -- rather than give a random LJer from off the street access. And that is pretty much it!

Also, I am long-winded. :D?

I play: Raven, X-23, Galadan, Dean Winchester, Nynaeve al'Meara, Jordan Black, Door, Aslan, Destiny, and Asyr Sei'lar.

My journal is chiefly a very random place, full of occasional memes, venting about work, discussion of how ridiculous students (and professors) can be sometimes, random long strings of words about polymers, fandom squee, and a little bit of cranky. Posting is also rather intermittent, which saves space on friends lists!

I'm a chemist, going to grad school (one more year, oh god!). I tend toward the sci-fi/fantasy end of the spectrum, both in media and in books. I get cranky when people tell me depressing = deep, and I fully embrace the X-men side of the comic force. I like to RP more than I probably should, and most of my characters are either really old, or they possess a very sharp edge. Shocking, I know.

I play: 1941!Jack Harkness (Torchwood), Ianto Jones (Torchwood), archy (archy & mehitabel), and Jack Green/the Green man (Celtic mythology). I maaay be adding another name next month. Still deciding.

My journal habits are erratic and possibly irritating. Sometimes I'll post several one-liners during the day, sometimes I'll post one big thing and not post again for days. I treat my journal as a journal so you'll get everything from my blatant materialism to my issues with the day job. It's friendslocked, as a few years ago I had an Incident I don't care to repeat, though fic announcements and things of that nature are public.

RL is: day job, roleplay, fandom (Torchwood, Doctor Who, Lost, Supernatural, Stargate: Atlantis, and many, many cartoons), assorted geekery (I am enamored of Wordpress), and flailing over my writing career. I talk in LOLcats a lot. It makes me laugh. And I'm trying do decide if friending Gareth David-Lloyd on Myspace is too fangirly even for me.

I'm also snuff_dog (Sirius Black) and a few other characters in a Harry Potter RP called hp_dungeons which is now over on Insanejournal, but I'm too lazy at the moment to paste the URL. I also write fanfic -- albeit at a glacial pace. Mostly what I've written is hardcore NC17 kinky Jack/Ianto stuff, but I'm also working now on a Supernatural/Boondock Saints crossover. So that should give you an idea of my current fandoms: Hellblazer, Harry Potter, Supernatural, Boondock Saints, Torchwood and Doctor Who. Oh, and Battlestar Galactica as well, though I don't write in that one.

I'm also a feminist, a witch, and generally a decent human being, if I must say so myself. Come by my journal and say hi!

I'm Alex W. This is my LJ. I joined Milliways Labor Day Weekend 2004 (under my wife's Batya's pernicious influence) and haven't looked back since. I play Alex Knox, Cyrus O'Dell, Captain Kirk, and Gibbs.

My blog tends to be bout pop culturey things, like comic books and books and movies and TV shows, with some side trips into reality, filk, SF fandom, and sports. I post a weekly review of the comics I have just bought, and try to keep people up on the comics industry news they might have missed. Once in a blue moon, I post on things related to work or being Jewish. All are welcome to visit.

Name: Amy. Yes, actual name. On the internets! I know!
Mun journal: This one.
Pups: Havelock Vetinari, Shelley Winters, Harth Fray, Captain Jack 'intergalactic manslut' Harkness, Ducky, Nico Minoru, and once she gets approved and I'm done with exams, Sabriel.
Past: Dark and mysterious. Er, I mean - I played one of the Opera Ghosts, around the time we had three of them, (Blame Pratchett. And [livejournal.com profile] innerbrat) and also briefly a canonmate of Shelley's. My first year at Milliways also brought out my deep and unfortunate fascination with evil, leading to highly dramatic threatening notes all over the bar, and [livejournal.com profile] batyatoon and [livejournal.com profile] bookelfe being incredibly indulgent to my wee newbie self. and I'm sure this propensity will surface again once I have time.

Online and in RL, I'm one of the more-or-less regular MilliBrits, and have been for over three years now. Milliways was my first game, and remains my one true love, despite my occasional defections elsewhere. My mun journal mainly contains posts rarely longer than five sentences, except when I'm drunk, flailing over canon, or righteously and incoherently outraged at the actions of some government or other.

There may also, very occasionally, be Torchwood MPreg. I swear it is both tongue-in-cheek and not my fault.

Finally, so long as I know who people are, and where they came from, I'm very welcoming.

Hi guys!

I'm Becca, and I've been playing Meg Giry here since the first month of the game, which I guess makes me officially an old-timer, but I still sometimes feel like a newbie anyways. I haven't been around much lately due to things like thesis and impeding college graduation, but I hope to be around more in the future! When I am, I play Mary Lennox, Sophie Hatter, Jamie Hamilton, and Jayne Cobb, among others.

My journal is a mix of fannish dorkery (including occasional fic), things in real life that I think are cool/wish to rant about, and, these days, a lot of babbling about books, since I am trying out this whole 'booklogging' thing. Anything pertaining to RL I keep under friendslock, but my policy is pretty much 'add me and I'll add you back', and I am always excited to meet new people!

The good things I whine about are my friends, my plans, school, my fandoms...I rant about tv shows a lot. Flist? Expect a big "season 3-4 of House" rant 'cause kgjaldkjflkd I'm on the finale now and I'm trying not to cry.

I used to talk a lot about RP but now it's about friends who don't have LJs and the crazy parties we have and the awesome comm called [livejournal.com profile] statements. I'm a twenty year old girl with an aspiration to be a teacher, so you can just imagine the other random things I talk about.

characters: when I play them, vaguely in order of "main"-ness ... James Adams (best teenage spy evs); Wes Janson (he used to have a stuffed Ewok...); Ben Skywalker (best Jedi teenage spy, and star of the GFFA's latest drama CSI: Coruscant (claim unsubstantiated)!); Andy Gallagher (like a nerdy twenty-three year old Obi-Wan); Desmond Hume (PENNYYYYY); Jack O'Neill (every time I think of him, I also go "crap, I should post him in"); and Syal Antilles (aka Lysa Dunter).

Jack and Syal are actually tied in this list, as are Andy and Desmond.

Whenever I mention two of my characters in the same sentence, I immediately picture them meeting (if they haven't already). Jack would give props to Syal's dad (and he would, in fact, remind her of her dad, which would amuse her). Andy and Desmond would bond over estranged lovers, killing someone in the heat of the moment, and being mildly crazy (though Desmond wins on that count).

My posting habits are entirely random. I'll go days without posting anything, or at least anything of substance, and then I'll whine for a few paragraphs about my life, O Discordia.

I am currently re-reading the Dark Tower cycle; its buzzwords and phrases have infected my speech pattern. It's also resulted in an Eddie headvoice elsegame, which is vaguely surprising because if I was going to pick up any DT character, I would've put my money on Cuthbert. Then again, that would be like playing Wes all over again, if Wes had a slingshot and said things like sai and long days and pleasant nights. Or if Cuthbert liked Ewoks. (I have a feeling he would.)

I live in Britain and recently acquired an office job for a bank (well, through a temp agency), which means I hate myself in the morning if I'm online past 11pm GMT, and I live for weekends and bank holidays. THIS COMING MONDAY IS A BANK HOLIDAY, guys, you don't know how happy I am right now.

I think this is more than enough information that no one cares about.

This is my regular journal. Crazy, I know.

I play: Coyote (from southwestern myth and legend, natch), Duo Maxwell (from Gundam Wing), Elda (from a series of Diana Wynne Jones books), and Kaoru (from Ouran High School Host Club).

My journal tends to be me talking about whatever catches my eye that day. I work in a comic book store and am part-timing my way through college. I also like to picspam with nature-y things. Besides that, it's family, fandom or random. I welcome friending, lurking, or de-friending. I don't consider my life all that thrilling, except to myself.

I'm also really bored at work. SO SLOW TODAY.

I play: Ramon Salazar, Julian of Amber, Justin Taylor, Satan (End of Days)

My journal consists mainly of a mixture of real life ramblings about college or my kid, fandom musings - Supernatural is the order of the day at the moment but 24 will no doubt make a comeback next January - yelling about things in the news that catch my attention or squeeing about football. I usually share whatever CD's I've come across recently and can never stop myself talking about whatever book I happen to be reading at the time. Occasionally I post pictures I've taken of things and have been known to write fic. Sometimes my entries make no sense at all.

Uhh...what else...I'm British, which probably explains a lot. And I love new friends!

Mun LJ: neenie
Characters: Mal and Sallie Reynolds, SARAH the smart house, Ned the Piemaker and Delysia Lafosse.
Journaling Habits: Um...I have had my lj since 2001. I think my only consistent habit is that I have one.

My journal is flocked, but just ping me or whatnot. I am usually easy.

HI! :D

I'm Feather, and I'm another one of those old-timers (four years next month! HOLY SHIT!). I used to play Fleur Delacour, but now play Candice, Brooklyn, Leo the ninja turtle, Mori from Ouran, and the two unicorns from Charlie the Unicorn.

My posting habits are totally dependent on my production schedule. I normally write about my day and all the different ways I almost died in the pursuit of Art, my original projects, and even sometimes about politics! I'm finishing up school (two degrees! WOOO!) in theatre education and public history with a focus in US politics, and I work full time in a regional theatre in the Appalachian Mountains in many, many different positions but mostly as a teacher.

Um...what else? I used to plan the Millicons before my work schedule got to heavy.

And I always welcome new lj friends! Just let me know if you do. La la la! :D

Mind if I friend? I've been admiring your RP for frickin' ages and anyone who loves theatre and politivs is automatically awesome in my book.

Name: Veronica (sometimes 'Sho' also comes up from my journal name/AIM sn)
Mun journal: [livejournal.com profile] shoroko
I play: Elle Bishop (Heroes), and less often these days Behrooz Araz (24), Jim Halpert (The Office), and Mei Kusakabe (My Neighbor Totoro).

I post when I feel like I have something to say, so it can be kind of off-and-on. It's usually stuff about RL (just finished up my junior year of college as a Middle Eastern Studies major with Anthropology and Politics minors), or fandoms (... pretty much whatever media I happen to be taking in at the time), and sometimes even intelligent things.

My journal is flocked, but I friend pretty much whoever, it's mainly flocked to keep some kind of idea of who's reading it.

I'm Kate or Fi as I'm known in chat and I just came back from about three years in New Zealand and I'm currently working on finding a job, getting my own place and that sort of stuff.

I play Will Scarlett, the Pirate King, Demeter and in June I'll be apping Tumnus from Narnia.

My journal at the moment is a mix of what I'm reading and seeing, thoughts about life in general and when I remember picture posts.

I love having new people on my friends list, so comment if you do so I know you're from here.

Name: Carly... and that's pretty much it.
Mun-journal: [livejournal.com profile] austen
Characters Played: As of right now, it's just Pam Beesly (The Office), but I plan to app a few others over the next few rounds.

Journaling is a mix of fandom, fics, and RL stuff, obviously (tags are pretty self-explanatory). Entries are friends-only for the most part but I'll friend anyone who wants to be!

[identity profile] prix-etoile.livejournal.com 2008-05-24 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I am going to add you. Because your Pam is amazing and you seem pretty awesome.

(Just...Pam/Jim in Milliways is like EXTRA TREATS for me. :P)
