Midsummer is coming. And strange things happen in the woods when the year starts turning back towards autumn.
For one thing, the Queen of the Fairies starts getting nervous about that tithe she's going to have to pay in four months.
Hi. *cheerful* This is the Queen, from the ballad of Tam Lin. She'll be entering the bar around midsummer; this is your heads-up/information/approach with caution post!
Important things to note:
1. This isn't Titania. (Titania is nice. And genuinely likes mortals.) This Queen owes more to traditional balladry like "Tam Lin" and "Thomas the Rhymer," along with a certain amount to modern interpretations of the fair folk like Pamela Dean's Tam Lin and Terry Pratchett's Queen in Lords & Ladies and The Wee Free Men.
2. The Queen likes mortal men in much the way cats like mice -- they're fun to play with, and it's all right if they break, since there's always more where that one came from. She likes them young, she likes them pretty, and she likes them artistic; fairies aren't very creative, and so the creative powers of mortals hold a special fascination. If she likes them enough, she may offer them a chance to visit her kingdom, or some kind of gift. If you know your ballads, you know that these are double-edged offers. (If you don't know your ballads, you can find links in the Queen's userinfo.)
As for mortal women, well, sometimes they're entertaining in a limited sort of way, but usually they just get in the way.
This post isn't necessarily meant to scare people off with dire warnings about the Queen, though! I've apped her largely in the hope that we can stir up some plot -- there'll be posts about that in the future, but if you're familiar with Tam Lin, you probably have some idea where we're headed. It's only fair that you have some kind of warning before you go tagging her, or before she tags your pups.
On that note, please comment here if you don't want the Queen tagging your pup or pups. I'll try to make a point of asking before I go tagging out, so as to avoid any unpleasant consequences, but if you already know that you'd rather avoid her, let me know.
3. Similarly, the Queen has been around a long time, though she spent most of her time in the British Isles. If you want to come up with some kind of prior encounter backstory, I'm open to that, but please contact me so that we can work out details.
Any other questions, comments, or concerns? Comment here or drop me an e-mail. :)

Y'know, I still have never heard the Fairport Convention version, even though it's probably the best known? >.>

Ahahahahahaha.
:D!

Oh! But I forgot to mention that I do encourage the meetings of the Queen and the Tams. I'm a sucker for bad puns.

Did you see that in Edwardian England, Simon's alias was Simon Tamblyn?
*sidles off, whistling cheerfully*

I know Marlowe isn't young, but, hey. He's fair game! And that m_m thread we did was fun.

and sadly has a weakness for dangerous women. I mean, uh*grins back*
So. You know. I'm game for anything.

Tagging Lissar would be a Bad Idea all around...and as for Spoon, uh. He's got a habit of picking fights with people who could kick his ass. And, uh. Well, crazy werewolf. I'm okay with things happening, but he's pretty...violent.

But I'll keep that in mind! We can always see how things shake out later.

. . . Yeah, I have trouble with the image of her going after Gibbs, too.
Anyhoo, fair enough: no seducing Knox.

Very new here and when I read your post, I couldn't resist finding out more.
Good heavens! Well, I'm sure Christian wouldn't have any appeal to her at all, lol!
If you are seeking deep plotting and so on, as a newbie, I might not be who you're looking for, especially since you have so many others here who are interested. But cheers for playing the Fae with the tradtional edge of darkness. :)

At the moment I'm not specifically seeking anything -- I'm just looking to stir up some excitement and trouble. We've got some time before heavy-duty plotting starts. :) In the meantime, I'd love to put these two together and see where things might go!

And certainly, having them encounter one another on neutral ground would be interesting to try. I'm willing to pit my hopeful, romantic writer against your Queen, and see how the knight fares. ;)
And yes, I'm known to pun a bit, here and there...

We'll call it a date, then. *cheerful*

Just let me know when you'd like to have them chat, and we'll set something up.

I think the only pup I have that might be remotely interesting is Clark - as he is young and pretty - but in no way creative. He'll also get skittish as new colt upon mention of fairies and magic. But! Feel free to tag anyway, if you like. :D
