"What is your pup(s) theme song?"

Canonical or mun-selected, what tune plays in your head when you play your awesome pup of awesomeness?

Also, comment on other people's replies telling what you think a certain pup's theme song -should- be!

And I thought I was logged in, and now cannot delete the anonymous post. Bah. Please remove it, if you can. Drives me spare when that happens.

'Come What May', from Moulin Rouge. Predictable, perhaps, but that's what keeps looping through my head when I write as Christian.

That and the 'Roxanne Tango'. :)

The mun also has, unfortunately, random snippets of tragic opera pieces, interrupted, fortunately, by more recent pop, rock and folk songs that might make Christian feel better.

Sadly, angst songs from Nickleback and Evanescence keep cropping up... ;)

He's trying to move on, he really is, but I think Christian needs a new shuffle on his iPod, lol!

:O!

Behold, a mun is fangirling you!

Also, just so we're clear, Lorne will so be all over Christian here should they ever meet. It might make for some mind-boggling distraction, if nothing else.

Or, who knows, maybe they'll have absinthe and be maudlin together. YOU NEVER KNOW!

...also, uh, hi! :D Predictable but lovely theme selections.

Ray refuses to claim the Ray Parker Jr. song as his theme on the grounds that it's for all four Ghostbusters, and says instead that his is The Impression That I Get, by the Mighty Mighty Bosstones.

I've never been able to quite settle on one for Harry Wells; I keep hitting songs that'd work for his family theme, instead. Specifically, Driving The Last Spike by Genesis and We Work The Black Seam, by Sting. Annie Wells is even harder to get a song for.

Bumblebee's is "Strangers Like Me", from the Tarzan movie soundtrack.

Ironhide's is a little tricky, but I tend to settle on Don't Fear The Reaper, by Blue Oyster Cult, for him.

Haven't tried to nail one for Belar. (Although I sort of want to say "I Wish They All Could Be California Girls, since he's canonically an immature, boyish God who's fond of blondes, but that doesn't include the part where he's the Bear God and leads a nation of some of the scariest warriors on the planet.)

Whistler's is Video Killed The Radio Star.

The Great Librarian's is Zaar, by Peter Gabriel; it's a weird little instrumental piece. You try coming up with theme music for Lovecraftian pups in a world without Erich Zann.

And Gordon's is the Sacrifice for Sparta remix of "To Victory", from the 300 soundtrack.

For [livejournal.com profile] artfowler - Artemis Fowl's canonical theme can actually be heard here (http://www.eoincolfer.com/artemisfowl/index1.html). I don't have a mun-selected theme for him yet; nothing I've heard fits quite right him yet.

For [livejournal.com profile] organicmeatbag - Revan's canonical theme, I think, is just the regular old Star Wars theme. It's been awhile since I've played the KotOR games, but I'm pretty sure they didn't change what's already a good theme. My mun-selected theme for him is probably Shinedown's I Dare You. You can hear it here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLy2LDO1dSw) on YouTube.

Kirk has several theme songs, but the one I think suits him best is that from the fourth film, which was the most upbeat and nautical (though my favorite is from the second film).

Knox has told me he's appropriating the faster version of the Elfman Bat-theme that was used in the animated series, since the new films don't need it any longer.

Gibbs doesn't have any particular tune, but any of a number of traditional sea shanties will do.

Cyrus wants "Street Fighting Man," but that really doesn't quite fit.

This (http://www.box.net/shared/la0xtun4k4) is GLaDOS' theme song. (Was anyone surprised?) Although I do want to put together a playlist for her in the future.

Uh, this (http://www.box.net/shared/kglzbd98gg) is one of Ella's songs, canonically. Well, it's the only one that she sings by herself, but it does a good job characterizing her, I think.

And here (http://www.box.net/shared/8pyw4i7oc8) is Irina's theme, by John Williams. I was highly amused to hear shades of the Star Wars soundtracks in there.

Very cliché, but Clark's is "Superman" by Five for Fighting. Not only is it ridiculously appropriate for this version of Clark, but I can simply no longer stand the theme song for Smallville.

As for the rest, they don't have theme songs, because I'm just not one of those people who associates music with RPing.

One of my favorite cheesy moments from when I watched and loved Smallville was the one where Remy Zero plays at, what, the school dance? And Pete is flipping out over how amazing they are. Oh, show...

Puck's tends to be somewhere between Guster's "Center of Attention," Get Set Go's "My Wasted Life," and "Hey Pretty" by Poe.

His theme song with Oberon is "Always!"

Andrew's theme song is probably still "My Secret Origin" by Ookla the Mok.

Simon's ... I'm not sure, but I think it may be "When In Rome" by Nickel Creek. Possibly also "I'm Your Moon" by Jonathan Coulton.

Charlie McGee has "Daddy's Little Girl" by Julia Ecklar and "Winter" by Tori Amos.

Cavilo's may be "Control" by Poe, or possibly "Secret Agent" by Melissa Etheridge. Or, possibly, "Smile! No One Cares How You Feel" by the Gothic Archies.

Bootstrap Bill Turner, even though I hardly play him anymore, has the Soul Cages triptych by Sting ("Island of Souls", "The Wild Wild Sea", and "The Soul Cages"), and also "Dutchman" by Steve Macdonald.

Green!Jack's is "The Green Man" by XTC.

1941!Jack's is "'Til We Meet Again", or perhaps "Come Fly With Me."

Ianto's is "Damaged" by Primal Scream.

[identity profile] gethenian.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Miniver's themesong is "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen. Ideally, the VERSION that's his particular themesong is the one sung by Elton John and Axl Rose. >.> Because it's a flamingly gay dude and Pickles. :D?

Therem's themesong is "Possession" by Sarah McLachlan. That song has a beautiful duality to it that illustrates his personality wonderfully -- particularly the chorus, which is so light and calm and floaty until you realize what the words are and go WAIT YOU WANNA DO WHAT...... that's Therem. He is retrospectively the most passionate and varied lover in his canon, and the most openminded human on his planet, only he's so savvy with his riddles and comfortable in his hermetic island self you have to listen closely to realize how fierce he is.

Therem's child Sorve's themesong is "The Mind's Eye" by October Project. I think of it as sort of both Sorve's own thoughts, and Genly's thoughts about Sorve. The singer's voice has a very innocent quality that suits him, and the song opens with a recording of Martin Luther King Jr. talking about stars -- which is Genly, splendidly.

If the fox had a themesong, it would be written by a Vulcan.

EDIT: Also, because it makes me laugh how perfect it is in my mind, the themesong for the Gethenians in general is "Reach for the Light." Yes, the song from Balto. THEY HAV E ESSENTIALLY THE SAME DRIVING PLOT ELEMENT, IT WORKS. XD;;

Homestar's theme song is the website's intro or perhaps the song over the end credits photo montage.

Mia's theme song is Fairy Rain, played prominently in her introduction, as well as the theme for Vane itself. *pats poor crying Mia*

Psst! She also hums it in this scene, which is not safe for work or for people who personally know Draco Malfoy. Why yes, I do shamelessly parade my pup around.

Farley's theme song is Farley's Song, with Dame Edna in a yellow suit and a show of jazz hands from Richard O'Brien, Patricia Quinn, and Little Nell. We've even got a RHPS pre-show live performance which has a wolf whistle for my pup, audience commentary, and the complete stinger at the end.

[identity profile] buongiornodaisy.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
The version of canon that Paul Varjak is based off of does not have a theme song, but the version of canon that Paul's name comes from does (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_aU02NIFdQM)! As for his mun-selected theme song, I'm partial to "Brigitte (http://www.sendspace.com/file/tjihju)" by Stereolab (lyrics here (http://gzirra.homeip.net:8888/stereolab/songs/lyrics.php?lid=17), which you will need unless you speak French).

James Bond...yeah, let's not go there.

Emma Peel, too. That's way too obvious. Though she just has one (http://youtube.com/watch?v=tvmgrnsaE1U) theme song, as opposed to the aforementioned spy, who has, like, a CD full of them. Also, Emma's canon theme song happens to be one of the most perfect theme songs ever.

Raymond Shaw...'s 1962 version of canon had a theme song (http://www.sendspace.com/file/3dio1q), but the canon I base him off of? Eh, not so much.

Harry Caul's canon theme song (http://www.sendspace.com/file/pkw7k3) is AWESOME and was blatantly ripped off in the score to HBO's Recount, which, despite the score, was similarly AWESOME!!!

Fredo Corleone...ah, I'm sure you all know his canon theme song (http://youtube.com/watch?v=2rW2I6KmWhw) (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] newredshoes!)

Skinner's canon theme song (http://www.sendspace.com/file/zptddo) has the unfortunate coincidence of being written by the same person who co-wrote one of James Bond's many many theme songs. Why.

Kaylee's is Wilco's Heavy Metal Drummer -- but the live version, with the more ribald verse included. (This version's from the Val Air Ballroom in Des Moines, Iowa on March 9, 2008. I was four back from the rail.)

Dale Cooper's is quite easily Ballad of a Thin Man, by Bob Dylan.

Still working on the others. It is hard to come up with good ones. :(

Teja has an entire playlist!

Teja has a theme song, canonically: - his dirge, which I linked here, with the caveat linked in the notes very much valid! There's no other version of it reachable, so this will have to do. Nobody would wish to listen to my mother and me singing the melody by which my grandparents and their friends (who were already fans in the 1920s) used to sing it.-

On a more personal level, his theme song might be 'Hand Of Sorrow' by Within Temptation. There's much in that song, its high drama and pathos (very late, late, late 19th century by its ballad-y melody and pacing, too) that resonates much with the private Teja, and his choices, that one may find in canon once you look past the heroic deeds and 'Hero's Death' part of it.-

Oh, I love this game.

Yuna's is hilariously Billy Joel's Only The Good Die Young. Not a masterpiece, but dreadfully appropriate.

Susannah has quite a stable, especially given the multiple personalities; for a long time the music in her userinfo was Love Minus Zero/No Limit/a> but these days Johnny Cash's cover of One is number one with, as they say, a bullet.

(Detta has Whitey on the Moon, while Odetta has Eve of Destruction, and I am STILL looking for a good one for Mia; there have been some candidates but no real champion.)

(I am no great shakes with contemporary music, so Jez has helped me with Rose's tunes--House of Wolves is a good one.)

Coalhouse is from a musical; Coalhouse's Soliliquy is probably my favorite, and if you combine it with His name was Coalhouse Walker and Make Them Hear You you've basically got his arc in a nutshell. Although Coalhouse Demands is just plain awesome.

I have never had much of a playlist for Harry Truman or Monkey.

Canonically, Sylar's is a ticking clock. No, really. It's occasionally punctuated with chimes and a piano ditty for some variety.

Mun-chosen...I've got a twenty-three track playlist sitting in iTunes, because I am just that much of a dork, but if I had to pick one song from it, it'd be More Human Than Human by White Zombie. That's where the title and subtitle of his journal come from, and it is, in many ways, creepily fitting.

As for my others, I don't have a lot of music I associate with Mac. Mercer, though? Hands down, his theme is Extraordinary Machine by Fiona Apple. If "More Human Than Human" is creepily fitting for Sylar, "Extraordinary Machine" is terrifyingly so for Mercer.

Raven's is Zebra, by the John Butler Trio, and Dark and Lonely Man, by Jump Little Children.

Galadan's is Mack the Knife (the version by the Psychedelic Furs)and Middleman, by Bright Eyes.

James' would probably be something by the Pigeon Detectives, though. Or maybe Cobra Starship - "Kiss My Sass" (http://www.lyricsdomain.com/3/cobra_starship/kiss_my_sass.html). cause y'all know nothing but my name~
