Purely out of interest-

I was wondering about some of the usernames people have chosen for their characters. I mean, some of them are pretty obvious ([livejournal.com profile] green_eyed_luck and [livejournal.com profile] pjpettigrew, for instance). Then again, they might only be obvious to those of us involved in the fandom in question. Anyone care to explain? Indulge me. *g*

I second that. I'm not sure about many of the names. And for those who don't know my character, Tonks is very clumsy, and she's an auror (read: policewoman, or "soldier-witch," as Crowley likes to say).

And Nny...did the angel leave Tonks? How sad. She'll just have to go be comforted by big, strong, Charlie Weasley... ;)(And I have no idea who's playing him.)

Thirded.

A lot of them are rather easy, but only if you're in the fandom. Then again, I don't know anyone who wouldn't get [livejournal.com profile] aj_crowley.

For mine, Luna's rather spacey and a bit crazy in school (Hogwarts) and the kind, decent children nicknamed her 'Loony' Lovegood. She knows, and really doesn't get all that het up about it ("They call me Loony, you know.").

Mine's simple: desire was taken.

Didn't feel like making _desire (or any variation free), and after consulting with a friend, decided on true_desire.

All righty then.
[livejournal.com profile] otherwhiterider: For those who haven't read Good Omens yet... first of all, what are you waiting for?! Secondly, Pestilence's part in the book is roughly once sentence, where it's mentioned that he retired in 1936 due to penicillin. I created the LJ last year for [livejournal.com profile] buggreallethis under the reasoning that there's no way Hell would let him off permanently - besides, with AIDS and all going, he's got to be out there somewhere. The LJ name is a bad play off those 'pork: the other white meat' commercials. (Pollution is his replacement, for the record.)
[livejournal.com profile] artsmartscarlet: I had the HARDEST time coming up with an LJ name for this girl, but then fandom saved my arse. More specifically, it's a nickname she gets in The Look-Alike Series, that being the stuff that got me writing fanfic. (It was a lot shorter back in those days; very good reading, if y'all can pull yourselves away from the RP long enough. XD) If memory serves, it's first used in 'And Then There Were Four.'

When her sister Jane gets sick at a neighbor's estate, Elizabeth walks three miles to be with her (she is not a horsewoman, and the carriage is unavailable). It had been raining the previous day, so there was mud everywhere. By the time she arrived at the neighbor's her shoes and stockings were filthy, and her petticoats were "six inches deep in mud". Hence, [livejournal.com profile] muddypetticoats. ^_~

I loved that you picked that for her. :) So her.

[identity profile] controlsthedeck.livejournal.com 2004-07-13 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Fate is a cheater. He controls the deck [of cards]. And loads the dice. But it is also a reference of sorts to Zigzag (ZigZag? Zig Zag? Er?) the Evil Vizier Person from the Thief and the Cobbler, which is an...er...amusing...piece of...work. Yes.

[identity profile] job26.livejournal.com 2004-07-13 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
From the Bible ( The Christian Bible, that is...). The Book Of Job, Chapter 26. You kin look it up, eh?

[identity profile] sweet-beatrice.livejournal.com 2004-07-13 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Benedick calls Beatrice "sweet Beatrice" when they first declare mutual love, so it seemed appropriate.

[identity profile] neosso-irrado.livejournal.com 2004-07-14 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
[livejournal.com profile] neosso_iraddo means Angry Youth, that's what they(the Limners or Gifted Grijalva painters) called Sario in the Golden Key, and it fits him reath well. Angry boy, that one.

I'm not sure why I'm telling you this seeing as how you were being constantly consulted throughout the choosing process, but in case anyone else was wondering:

[livejournal.com profile] samael_diablo

Samael is one of his names, and 'diablo' means devil in Spanish :D

Ooooh. Good one.

[identity profile] darthrami.livejournal.com 2004-07-14 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
I'll be interested to look at other people's answers. But first I'll write mine, as it's all about me, obviously. I'm playing [livejournal.com profile] fevered_dreams, Rodya Raskolnikov from Crime and Punishment. In the book, Rodya was haunted by dreams of his crime both before and after it was committed, and it was in part these dreams that drove him to madness (while in part madness which drove him to these dreams).

Ummmmand I thought it might sound nice? :-D

[identity profile] watch-wait.livejournal.com 2004-07-14 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
I take no responsibility for watch_wait. I was tired, and I thought "Wouldn't it be cool to give my journal the name of the type of angel Bartleby was?" But I couldn't remember what the hell they were called, only that they watched things.

And Bartleby waited for a good long time to get back into Heaven, so...

Sleep deprivation makes me unoriginal and slightly pathetic.

I didn't want anything that directly referred to Constantine, who he is or what he does. But I thought that [livejournal.com profile] bloody_awful might be something that John might come up with himself if he were to start an online journal. (*shrugs*)

Hi, new RPG kiddie *waves* Not that I'm quite young enough to be a kiddie, but anyway. And I'm Sam's fault also, indirectly. But my game name:

Sara Pezzini is the most recent wielder of the Witchblade, an age old bracelet and sporadic weapon that allows her to kick some serious ass as a NYPD detective. So wielder_00 seemed appropriate 'cause in 2000 she became a wielder... yeah.

Glad it's summer so my world can be taken by Milliways'. *facepalm* But nice to meet all of you!

Note: dammit, so bad at LJ speak, how do you make the name link up with your little member icon (I'm so articulate). sorry :)

[identity profile] darthrami.livejournal.com 2004-07-14 12:53 pm (UTC)(link)
To do LJ tags for names, it's [lj user="yournamehere"] only where [ is < and ] is >

I think that's what you mean, at least...
