If you (or your character) were in the Firefly universe, where would they have been during the War?

ETA: Return of the Robots.

Ajedrez: Eavesdropping on Daddy running his drug cartel.

Corrie:...probably a casualty of war.

Dara: Fighting on the Independents' side.

Kore-Persephone: Um. Probably got distracted by garden.

Medusa: Staying on home, but as much as she'd pick a side, she'd fight on the Independents' side. If the fighting came to her.

Marlowe: Minding his own business, getting drunk, writing, brawling, clashing with people...being Marlowe.

John Aversin:...he'd be for Unification. And I can't imagine him not fighting, so. <.<

Steph, Steph, I have a book review due and I haven't finished the book yet and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh.

From what we've seen of the Alliance and "Special People", I imagine Elle would ... not be in a good place?

Robin would be reporting on the war -- probably on bizarre aspects of it, like soldier fashions and other 'human interest' pieces that make no sense.

Zoe would be locked in her bunker home by her father.

Kirk would have been with the Alliance. He would have questioned every order, and possibly been somewhat sympathetic to the Independents, but he would never have changed sides.

Gibbs would have done everything in his power to avoid the war, but since men like Gibbs can't be found on the Core worlds, he would have supported the Independents. I think that he would have been like Jayne, trying to make a buck and ignore the war.

Knox would have reported on things from afar. I think he probably would have been an Alliance loyalist but it depends on where he was born.

Charlie would have tried to steer clear of the war, but would have supported the Independents and probably would have tried to help them without enlisting.

And Cyrus would have been a very strong supporter of the status quo, and claimed that the Independents were cutting their own throats.

Revan would have been of his own faction, fighting his own sort of war, similar to what he did in his own canon.

Artemis would take the opportunity of everyone being distracted by the war to accomplish Other Things. I don't think he'd particularly side with or support one faction over the other, unless he was forced to.

Scorpius, though torn over which side to really support, would follow his parent's lead, siding with whichever side his family chose. He probably wouldn't be able to fight though, unless absolutely necessary, being as young as he is.

I actually play a 'Verse character in a weekly roleplay in Second Life. She spent most of the war as a slave in a mining colony on the Rim, before she managed to hotwire a shuttle and get the hell out.

Yrael would be happily watching from the sidelines, staying well out of it.

Zelgadiss probably either fight for the Browncoats or also stay out of it, citing that it's none of his business.

Were he there, the Black Rider would be... er... suggesting the use those psychics could be put to, with proper conditioning.

Mel would have been well out of the war, commiting crime of various degrees right in the middle of one of the Core Planets.

Dinah would have kept out of the war politically: she'd have probably bee sympathetic to the Independents, but she wouldn't have engaged soldiers. She would, however, have done what she could to reduce civilian casualities and the various horrors of war.

Francesca would also have supported the Independants; but intellectucally only from the comfort of a core planet. She probably argued their case in public debates and may have been arrested for incitement.

Will would have been Alliance. Right up until Elizabeth went over to the Independants and he followed her.

Claire - again, happy on her planet that's somewhere between core and rim; blissfully unaware of whatever her Dad's doing for the Alliance Independance side which benefits him most at this time.

Karolina - again, on some town in some core planet, too occupied with her own problems to take a side.

Death would enjoy the chance to run into War so often on the job.

[identity profile] kali921.livejournal.com 2008-08-01 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
She-Hulk would spend serious time talking to both sides and trying to get both sides to cessate violence and reach a reasonable accord. She would definitely be no friend to the more oppressive elements of the Authority, but would sympathize that the bulk of the populace is probably not able or unwilling to exert any control over their own autonomy due to fear. She'd support the Independents right up until they resort to violence that starts to get innocent people hurt and killed.

At some point, the Living Tribunal would probably notice, take her aside, and advise her that everyone involved is acting like a functional twit, and urge her to unleash herself as a weapon of mass destruction. Then she'd probably start smashing weapons and enacting serious property damage to both sides.

Hawkgirl would take everything on a case by case basis. When people are acting like brigands and space pirates, no matter what side they're on, they're getting smashed via mace just as hard as the people that prop up the Man.

Oh, and She-Hulk would offer to represent anyone accused of a crime, naturally, in the Firefly version of court.

YELLOW BRA.

I don't know a lot about Firefly 'verse, but I think just about all my characters would have been safely nestled on the core planets either quite convinced that the independents were really bad folks or just generally apathetic to it all.

Except Soren. He'd probably be an independent soldier but talk about how they should all defect like...24/7. But somehow never actually do it, because he's kinda just whiny.

Piotr would almost certainly support Unification. He would also almost certainly be from a farm on the Rim somewhere, though, or at least Rimwards, and I suspect would want to stay on that farm rather than going off to volunteer.

Lan... God, I don't know. He's so immersed in his own political and cultural context, which is different from FFverse in a lot of key ways. It depends on whether he was from Rim or Core, in part, I suspect, but even so I'm not totally sure what fits best.

Honey would be happily ensconced in the Core and completely oblivious. Or at least ignoring it.

River and Regan: Gee, I wonder!

YELLOW BRA.

Be a damn sad thing if I didn't listen, really.

My backstory for GreenJack includes that he was a medic in both WWI and WWII, and I imagine he would do the same for the Browncoats. He'd see Unification as a kind of stagnation, which makes him twitchy. At the very least, he'd be doing some kind of subversive activity in his own particular way, probably involving seed smuggling.

1941!Jack is an idealist and dislikes bullies, and I want to say he'd fight for the Browncoats as well. (And probably die horribly again.)

Ianto would be some bigwig's undersecretary, blissfully unconcerned with the big picture, until the war came home to him in the form of a family member or lover being killed or driven away, and then he'd cross galaxies to get revenge, war or no war.

[identity profile] agoodshinkickin.livejournal.com 2008-08-01 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Mwhahaha YELLOW BRA!

As for Unification day? Well that all depends on how/when Mike and Raph got to the 'Verse in question.

If we're translating turtle canon to have started there then, well...Hamato Yoshi and Oroku Saki were probably rival Operatives in love with the same woman, which would put Splinter and the turtles as quasi Alliance Special Forces based. They'd probably live under some hub planet's streets and fight low level hoods until they got sucked out into the greater 'verse, but chances are good they wouldn't be fighting in the war for the sake of sides.

If we put them there now though? Yeah...I could totally see them being at Serenity Valley with Mal and the gang.

Man...now I totally want to like, recast Firefly with the turtle gang.

Raph as Jayne
Don as Simon
Mike as Kaylee
Leo as Mal
April and Casey as Zoe and Wash respectively.
And of course Splinter as Book.

HAH and Shadow could totally be a stand in for River, what with her mob ties and all.

[identity profile] whisper2ascream.livejournal.com 2008-08-01 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Kate: She's anti-Registration so yeah, better believe she'd be a Browncoat.

Nathan: Well, depends on what would be an advantage, though maybe favoring Independents, and trying to keep him and his family away from Blue Sun. I see a lot of hiding.

Johnny: He's psychic so very obvious where *he'd* end up, poor man.

Draco: Likely Alliance, but would he fight? Uh no. He'd just quietly try to profit from it.

Pan: Probably helping the Independents and inspiring panic.

Truman: Traveling to distant planets, and trying to stay out of it.

The Doctor: Stopping the Cybermen from using Serenity Valley to upgrade the Browncoats and defeat the Alliance to establish themselves in power.

Agnes Nitt: "Student" at the Academy. (She's a witch, what do you expect?)

Kitai: Probably not taking much of an interest in things at all.

Karrin Murphy: Working with the BHGs, like her dad.

Ralph Hinkley: Teacher on one of the Core worlds.

David Xanatos: Gunrunning. To both sides.

Gaius Baltar: Scientist working for the Alliance until he falls in love (or at least lust) for an undercover Browncoat and inadvertently starts passing information to her.

Wayne Malloy: Out on the Rim, traveling between worlds, scamming and conning as usual, staying one step ahead of the war.

YELLOW BRA!

Teyla would be on the front lines fighting for the Independents. She's not big on interplanetary governments of any sort, and she'd probably have grown up pretty far from the Core. (Oh, also, since she's got that weird, vaguely psychic thing going on, I'd guess she'd want to stay as far away from the Alliance as possible.)

Lorne, sad to say, would most likely be on the side of the Alliance. He'd be sympathetic to the Browncoats, but completely loyal to his government, until he was ordered to do something he found morally reprehensible. Then he'd switch sides and never look back.

Harriet...umm...Harriet would be at home on some cozy Core planet, going to school and dreaming of being a spy against the Browncoats.

I have totally written this! Sort of. In the way where I really need to write another part/finish it. But movie-Rhodey would be Alliance! Comic-Rhodey is more difficult to call; he has the military service in his past, but I'm not sure I can see someone with his personality willingly being part of the Alliance.

Liz would be totally, totally screwed. Like [livejournal.com profile] shoroko said -- we have seen the reaction of the Alliance to people with special abilities. Maya'd be in trouble, too, though I have to wonder if they'd be successful in turning her into a weapon. I think they might.

I am too lazy to figure it out for the rest. :D Steph! I want to tag Mal, but are you overthreaded?

YELLOW BRA!

Gaeta would have been on active duty for the Alliance, wholeheartedly believing in the good Unification could do without quite understanding why people wouldn't like the idea/wouldn't trust their government/etc -- at least, until he witnessed firsthand what the Alliance was doing to the Independents. Then he'd...well, still be serving the Alliance, but far, far less enthusiastically.

Sylar would have been a mechanic on one of the richer Rim worlds, not giving two craps about the war, until he snapped one day and started killing people. Either that, or until a friendly neighborhood Alliance recruiter dropped by, told him he was "special," and offered him a chance to attend a school for people just like him.

Mac would have idealogically sided with the Browncoats while attending school near the Core.

Mercer would have been hitching rides on whatever ship he could find, Independent and Alliance both, and staying the hell out of the war zones. (He totally would've been on the Browncoats' side and a complete, unapologetic loudmouth about it, though. Stick it to the man, Independents!)

Will would be fighting with the Browncoats since he's very much Rim and also that's him.

Demeter would be wandering around the badly terraformed planets pleading with the soil and she'd occasionally trap some psychotic general in a tree.

Tumnus would be trying to not be killed, probably on the edge of the Core. He would be a scholar since that's what he is, I'm just not sure how to make the faun thing work.

The Pirate King would have his own ship and sing about his rather troublesome moral quandary as he causes chaos at the fringes of the Core.

YELLOW BRA FOR THE WIN!

Marian would have sided with the Independents while she was stuck somewhere in the alliance for political (*cough*orfamily*cough*) reasons. She'd be the spy sending over plans and information that got dropped, doing her best to help from the inside.
