The third film suffered from 'too many stories'; over all it wasn't a bad film, but it was signifcantly weaker then the previous two, which sort of set the bar for what comic book movies should be (and was then raised by Iron Man and The Dark Knight, though I consider the latter less a 'comic book' movie and it's own animal more and more these days).

Really, they should have cut The Sandman storyline out, handled Venom only, and made it a singular, more coherant story, and still been able to handle the Goblin issue too.
