sunday indulgences
What have you done this week that you're proud of?
Threads, ooms, posts, baked goods, world domination (WHY WASN'T I INVITED HRM?!), art, interpretive dance...you name it, if you're proud of it, show us so that we can marvel at your awesomeness.
Please send interpretive dance with video links, naturally...

I did a lot of cooking, leaving my family with enough homemade cran-apple granola and rice pudding to last a week. Though my fish gelatin thingy turned out being not so good as we discovered the hard way that Nerds keep Jell-O from setting, so stir them in after!
I also watched my very first Bollywood movie, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and survived a week with the three year old class at work without shaking their bloody brains out, so I rewarded myself with booze.

...thank you for that, now I have an urge to make Jello and throw in Nerds to just watch it fail to set. XD
And yay booze and kisses!!

And, in Milliways news, love to everyone who tagged in to Ben's EP last night. I laughed. And laughed. And laughed.

Ahem.
Bwahaha, Ben's EP was a riot, seriously.

But the trip was a complete success, as far as following in the footsteps of canon is concerned -- I did see a dead Goth in Ravenna, and got a good idea of Roman Verona. That's a place which Teja, historically, mus have known very well -- it's the first thing we hear about him in Procopius, that he fortified the way south around Verona, because Narses, trying to drive the Goths southwards into the heel and tip of the Italian 'boot', had to come that way.

There was also an OOM.
I will collect links when I am less loopy!

* Andrew and Ava continue to be cute and geeky and DOOMED. Meanwhile, Andrew meets Barbara Gordon, and there is conversation punctuated by AUGH CREEPY AUGH.
* Lots of people tell Simon to eat his dumplings before they get cold, including two or three total strangers. Simon gets increasingly irritated; I get increasingly amused.
* This has only just started as of last night, but Simon and Mal are watching The Maltese Falcon. This can't end well.
* I'm also really kind of proud of this OOM last week with Simon, Kaylee, and a little scrimshaw turtle.
* And this has just been fun: Charlie McGee gets to say hi again to Captain Jack Sparrow.

If anyone's ever wondered why I don't write dark moody stuff more often, now you know. This is what the inside of my head looks like all the time.

Sunday before last, Bela and Cal Chandler hit it off. The same night, Toaster said he wanted to tag Bela with Cerberus. I chirped, "DO IT!" even though I had not thought through the fact that Cerberus is, oh, you know, a hellhound, like the kind that will drag Bela to hell in a couple of years! So they had a terrifying thread. *cheerfuls!*
Bela, not being one to be cowed easily, had an OOM in which a plan was made for her to safely return to the bar.
She does, and X tries to help with demon battling strategy from her world, Ava pokes at possible weaknesses, Cal distracts her (successfully) and bargains are made, Buffy commiserates, and a showdown occurs. Luckily, Epimetheus steps in and reminds Cerberus that people are not fair game here, even if they run from his gaping maws. Bela pretty much collapses within her protective circle until Cal returns downstairs in the morning and sees her safely through the front door.
When Bela returns a few days later, she is on the verge of shattering. Not so much because of the hellhound experience (although she and Cerberus have a brief exchange) as her conflicted emotions about wanting to see Cal again. They talk, and he keeps her from falling apart in fabulous, "go upstairs and fade to black" kind of way.
The moral of the story: tag new people. They can bring you the funnest surprise plot evar. I am looking forward to seeing how this progresses.
