Oh oh oh okay. So. What I tend to do if I am looking at apps is I try to get ahold of someone who plays the same genre of pup if it's not a theme I'm used to. This tends to apply to comic books more often than not, because I tend to lose at comics.
Milliways is rubbing off on me: I pinged Lynne and was like "Steve Rogers = Captain America y/y?" I WAS SO PROUD OF MYSELF.
I'm going to NYC tomorrow (but that's pretty much like going across the street, for me >_>) and at some point soon I'll hopefully be going to Baltimore. :D!
And I just found out I may be going to Toronto over my Winter break.
To which I say: IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME I STARTED TRAVELING. :|
In two weeks, it's off to The Ohio Valley Filk Festival, which is my absolute favorite con and which I missed last year. Coming between the Jewish holidays and the onslaught of new shows at the Museum, it will be a welcome respite.
At the end of January, we are off to Seattle for Conflikt, a fairly new filk con. It will be Batya's first return to her childhood hometown in ages, though odds are that we will get to see very little of anything but the hotel (as is usual for cons). We are also hopeful that we can get the many Internet friends we have never met to at least pay a visit to the hotel, including at least two Millifolken.
Beyond the cons, we have a bar mitzvah in January south of Boston, and not much else.
This weekend's Canadian Thanksgiving, so I'm home to visit my folks. It's three hours by bus and I will have to fight crowds of other people who will be wanting to take the same bus, so it better count as travel.
I am going to Wisconsin over Halloween weekend! My cousin's step-daughter is getting married. (My cousin is really all the 'immediate' family I have left asides from my parents and sister, so this is a pretty big deal.) I haven't been back there in ages, and they have actual, y'know, weather.
(Lately its been mid 90s (degF) and just sunny and dry around here, here being S. Cali. I want clouds, and rain, and cooler temps, and something that sorta, in some way, resembles fall.)
The amusing part about this is my sister and I keep asking our dad how we should be dressing back there. "Well, they've usually had their first frost by then, since the tomatoes are rotten and squishy for throwing on Halloween..."
Just going home for Thanksgiving, though I'm looking forward to my parents coming in December. I get to go to fancy restaurants when they're here and I'll actually be able to drink alcohol! Legally!
... but there's also the super seekrit possible January trip that I'm not allowed to talk about until November 5. >.>
Anybody have travel coming up they're excited about?
Yes! We will be going to Mexico next month for our annual few days before Thanksgiving, and then we will be heading to Disneyland for three days just before Christmas for something of a tiny family reunion.
I WANT to. I have a long weekend off from classes and I want to go to, like, Boston or something, but the bus is expensive and I am afraid to go by myself. :(
I have LOTS of travel coming up! Though..."coming up" sort of means "in the next year or so."
In two weeks I'm going to the Baltimore area for a birthday party. I hear there'll be Scorpion Bowls.
Then in November I get an Innerbrat of MY VERY OWN! This will involve going to the Bing Family Homestead for Thanksgiving and The Armpit of Mass for a Bing Family Wedding.
In December I'm spending a week in London.
Next July I'm going to Comic Con in San Diego, and then next fall I've got plans for Dragon Con.
Dance weekend in Albany in late November! And then going home to Vermont as per usual for Thanksgiving. I don't thiiiiink I have anything upcoming before that, though. Some local events -- oh, and quite possibly a trip to Brunswick, Maine next weekend. Dance, again.
I did a fair bit of traveling this summer, so I am mostly pinching my pennies a bit and enjoying the weekends at home. Though I might try to go hiking on Sunday or Monday. The weather is gorgeous! At least, if it continues this weekend as it did this week.
