The Next Week

Greetings. As you may recall, I have been offline a lot more than usual of late. This week is the high point of that trend.

I will be AFK from tomorrow evening through Wednesday evening for the last of the fall Jewish holidays (called Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah). I will then be at the OVFF filk convention from Friday to Sunday. In between, I will be trying to do five days of work in two days, doing laundry, packing, and so on.

Thus and therefore I will be pretty much away from the game except for current slowtimes till next Monday, though I will be able to check on the back room now and then. If you are threading with Kirk or the Question, I will tag as I can tomorrow, Wed. evening and Thursday. I will then be back to something resembling a regular schedule next week, though work will still be extra-busy for a while.

(Random question - today as I was walking back from the GP session through what I think is a Jewish area of London just North of Hackney, I noticed a lot of the men were wearing a really big black fluffy hat-like-thing. I'm now intrigued, can I ask what that is? I'd google it but I don't know what it's called.)

You saw a Hasidic Jew wearing one of the many varieties of special hats worn on the Sabbath and the holidays. This should be a good intro, though I cannot vouch for its accuracy at the moment. But you'll see that there are a number of fur hats with different names.
