What instruments do you play? What instrument does your pup play?

I play the flute, alto saxophone, and fiddle around with a psaltery and my brother's jazz bass. Sallie plays the piano, and I'm going to say that SARAH probably comes equipped with Casio keyboard sound effects. xD

I play violin and pennyflute (I CAN'T FIND IT! D:!) and sing. Voice totally counts as an instrument.

Byers plays piano, since Roger's been giving him lessons.

Canonically, Max plays the bongos, but I kind of also want to make him play guitar. >_>

Frasier sings and plays piano.

I...used to play the piano. But I hated praticing and all the exams I took were based on seat-of-the-pants sight-reading.

I...don't think any of my pup's play any instruments. Maybe Kohl had a go at guitar when he was younger, but even him I don't think plays anything now.

It all strikes me as kind of weird.

I know the keys on the piano keyboard, the strings on a guitar and can interpret music. 'Playing' any of these instruments is a bit of a stretch.

Which, uh... extends to my pups 'cause I'm not imaginative *shamed*. Francesca can almost certainly play the pianoforte, but she doesn't choose to. Will has tried to learn on Davey Jones' organ (heheheh), but he lacks the conviction to put in 3 hours a day.

Karolina, I think, probably had piano lessons as a child.

Dr. John Vattic plays the jazz trumpet, and Barney plays the bass guitar. I think I had Metis maybe playing an instrument at some point, but that's gone away.

I play piano, flute and oboe, however, I haven't touched any of them in a very long time, so rusty isn't the word for what I'd be if I did now.

As for my pups, I don't think any of them play anything. Clark canonically took guitar lessons, but he kept breaking the strings so it didn't work out.

I was sent into recorder recovery. I play no instruments. I can't read music. I blame my dyslexia for the whole "unable to link sound + written note + position on instrument" thing.

As for my characters...Hmm.
Marlowe can read music and sing damn well, but not sure if he would have ever gotten his hands on an instrument.
Ajedrez millicanonically plays chello.
Medusa can play...oh, I can't remember what they are called. Your Middle Eastern/Desert peoples string instruments that you pluck, and she can turn out a fine tune on a drum. Mostly, she just uses her voice.
Esfir doesn't play anything, although I could see her on a piano if her fingers were longer.
Kore-Persephone...probably plays lots of things by now, although I can see her more with plucking intrsuments than ones with bows, or wind instruments.
Dara isn't saying. I suspect she can play things.

I have, in the past, played piano (8 years), oboe (5 years) and bassoon (1 year only, alas!). Plus I like singing! Just, you know, not in... any formal or talented sort of way.

*expands awe* As a flute player (for...13 years now? Yikes) my directors always wanted me to learn oboe. First off, I have way too much of an unfortunate overbite for doublereeds and I to get along, and secondly, I couldn't do it. Oboes can be pretty! Just not with me.

I am helpless with musical instruments. I played the recorder briefly in elementary school, but haven't really played anything since.

I don't think any of my pups can play one, either. It doesn't seem to suit any of them.

However...

Barry Allen could pretty much play anything. There was a classic story from my youth where he was a one man band, trying to flummox the Pied Piper by playing a whole plethora of instruments at once using superspeed. And after Piper yells at Barry to stop, Barry asks, "was I that bad?" Piper replies that Barry was actually pretty good. I never used this underappreciated skill when I played him. I hope that for the forthcoming revival of Barry, this plays a major role. :)

I used to play the clarinet, but lost interest when I was much younger. And lately I've tried the piano, but I've what I call "Alien Fingers" in which my fingers really do no want to listen to me and do their own thing. I do sing though! When alone, so no one can hear, because I hate singing in front of people.

Artemis plays piano and will gladly show off for anyone. He's really good with music where as my other pups, Scorpius and Revan, are not so much. Revan's got a pretty nice voice, very soothing and all, when he sings lullabyes to his girls, but that's about it.

...What is a psaltery exactly?

I have some basic knowledge of the piano and I played trombone in high school marching band. I also sing and kick ass at Rock Band guitar (that counts, right?) :D

As for my pups - Zoe has not been revealed to have any canonical musical talents. Robin sings though.

I do not play any! Except maybe cup drumming. I don't think any of my characters canonically play instruments, although Cameron would probably play the piano beautifully if she had any reason to.

Steph, this morning the shower tried to eat my face. I had to go use the showers on the first floor and it was like:

Me: Hello shower.

Me: It's...pretty?

And...he's about the only pup of mine with musical talent, unless you count justaplumber, who plays the accordion.

Then again, Luigi...sings (http://p-userpic.livejournal.com/81259315/16961651)? The musical notes are the only thing indicating he's doing something ~musical~ in Paper Mario. You don't hear anything thanks to that game's lack of voice acting. Judging by Luigi's Mansion, though, he could just be humming.

Ianto plays piano in a "took lessons long enough to read the notes" kind of way.

I play maybe 5 songs on the classical guitar and they are simple nursery rhyme type songs at that. You do not want me singing.

I don't think any of my pups play any musical instruments.

However, I can see Ben Grimm playing something that would translate to jazz and big band, trumpet maybe. As to Millicanon though, in his first entry to Milliways (http://community.livejournal.com/milliways_bar/19459900.html) I had him being a good shower singer.

I can see Artemis Gordon playing something, maybe a string instrument but I don't know if his canon would agree with me.

I used to play piano, but never got very far with it. My big thing was choir.

Elle never had any music lessons of any sort. The closest thing would be that her father played the cello. Six... I also don't think actually plays an instrument, but I get the feeling if you put her front of a piano, she'd know what to do with it.

I played the piano and flute a very, very long time ago, and I can still plunk out a melody on the piano given enough time. I've played guitar much more recently, though it's currently languishing in a corner of my living room. And I sing.

In othergame, Lorne plays the violin, due to something Kavan Smith once said in an interview. However, since we've never actually seen it in canon, it's not happening here.

And Teyla can sing, quite well. I'd guess she also has some sort of ability with percussion, but don't quote me on that.

There's no canonical evidence that Captain Viscen can do anything other than yell indignantly, but I like to think he could pluck the strings on a guitar, at least.

Arnold plays the harmonica and it's suggested a couple of times that he can do something with a piano as well. And he has a great singing voice.

I used to pretend to play the Alto Sax, but like I told Marc Summers that one time: It sounds kind of like a Canadian Goose in a meat grinder.

One of the first things on Mike's Human List was to learn enough guitar to play Jimmy Buffet songs.
He's progressed much further than that.

Raph plays harmonica.
Why? Because it makes me smile, and because it's one of the few instruments that doesn't really require five fingers to play.

There are canon references to them playing guitar though...

The Loompas can play all instruments, though normally they don't have need to do so. Being able to just summon music has its advantages.

I played the trumpet for about six months when I was twelve. And I keep saying I'm trying to learn guitar, but my Squier just sits there looking at me mournfully.

Wes tried to learn guitar for a bit. He even had a teacher! But I think it now sits in his room just like mine.

Er, none of my others are remotely musically-inclined. Andy just knows a lot about classic rock. He probably plays a mean Guitar Hero, though.

I played the recorder, once. Sort of thing. Wanted to hear what musical quotes in books sounded like, because reading music and imagining what that would sound like? No way! I sang in the church choir when I lived in England, though, but got by by simply copying what the others sung.

Teja canonically plays a small portable harp; in Milliways, he has acquired a guitar as well, and found that the idea of a piano (and hence, any keyboard instrument like organ etc.) is easily understood when one imagines the invisible harp-strings hidden in the wooden box.-

I am not of the having played an instrument--well, aside from that one half year where I played the cello--but what I have as my musical thing is seventeen years of being a soprano. I have had a longing lately to buy a lap harp though after playing with one at a camp out for three days. I loved playing it and the sound it made.

I am completely nonmusical. And I'm sure that at some point in 60 years of canon Steve has played SOMETHING, but the skill has likely fallen by the roadside given his circumstances.

Billy can sing! He was in the choir in middle school and as a freshman, but he dropped it when he realized it was more likely to get him beat up. This is, natch, before he had bully-frying powers.
