since this is all my doing in a sense. I will do my best to explain. A friend of mine who is also a player here was asked not to attend the milliecon due to people possibly boycotting it if they went. I took this upon myself, much to this players protests, to inquire why. This was done of my own volition and had nothing to do with the friend who i was defending. They want me to drop the whole thing, as they dont see it as being a big deal. But I however see it as something offensive and elitist.
I understand that you are upset on a friend's behalf, but from what I can gather from scraps in the back room, you appear to have gone about their defence in a rather vitriolic manner.
This is the same as organising any party. If you feel that there is a person who will cause friction by their presence, it is best not to invite them, for the sake of the party as a whole. It's not an ideal situation, I know, but it's a minimisation of the potential conflict.
As a separate issue, a person is entirely within their rights to fail to invite a stranger into their home for a weekend.
I agree my manner wasnt really as thought out as i would like. Which is why I am dropping it.
and i guess what worries me about this is just like you said some people are worried that someone might cause "friction". But if that is only based on the character they play, i think thats a bit unfair.
i did initially post a rather obnoxious rant of a post, which i than deleted. The post was visible for 5 or 6 minutes at most. The subject being the apparent tendency for IC prejeduces to carry over to OOC. But since this was hardly constructive I decided to talk to some of the players I assumed might have started this, and i thought I might offer myself as a mediator between certain players so we could do away with any IC/OOC tensions. The one player I talked to said they knew nothing about it, to which i apologized to them.
