I think because Bart and Elle's interactions tend to swing toward the rather silly and shallow, and neither of them tries to go much deeper than that, they just don't find very much to conflict on. Bart's too young to really get a touchy-feely reaction from her, and Elle is very capable of acting immature and silly, which tends to be jarring because she's sort of too old for it.

But yeah, I love their antics and they're always a lot of fun to thread.
