Very vague indeed. I'm not sure Will ever emerged as a person for Joe, rather than as a scary pillar of Lightness, because of his mundie issue. To that end, though, Will was a good object lesson in not taking people at face value.

For Eddie, River was an opportunity to work out brother guilt, I think. He understood Simon far, far too well to ever do anything to hurt her.

River scared the crap out of Saionji! Which was awesome! I love crashing universes together that exist at different... threat levels. Like, taking someone from a world of subtle social manuevering and politics and symbolic one-upmanship and introducing the element of "you will be hurt, and hurt badly, if you cross me, you little puke." Particularly a big fish in a little pond discovering whales. And sharks. And fishermen.

Yuna thought Lan was so nice and approachable. I thought you'd appreciate that.
