Daily Entertainment!

Hijacking because I'm a dirty hijacker. Thing.

So! 2008: A Space Odyssey A Year In Review. What'd you like particularly? What was new? What was old and you still love to bits anyway? What threads made you giggle, wibble, or want to take your hat off to the writers?

(And yes, these threads can be yours.)

(I wouldn't suggest actually taking your hat off to yourself, though; it looks weird.)

(Unless your hat is too small/big/uncomfortable in some way.)

(I'll shut up now.)

I like this idea and I can think of a few sort of lovely sagas which I'm going to list but not sure the best way to link them.

Couples: Kate Warner and Bill Pardy, Kaylee and Simon, Gordon and Alyx.

Plots and trickier things: The Ford sisters, Susannah Dean and her family, The Nobodies though they did a lot, but my favorites are the stuff with Rachel Grey, Coyote, Marvel Civil War again this plot covers a lot of people and I was involved with part of it but I love all the different ways, Milliways brought it to life.

I know there's more but this is just what first comes to mind for me.

It makes me giggle, Caz used it and recommended the maker. I don't remember who made it off the top of my head but its in the userpics stuff and a whole wonderful set of beautiful and funny Disney RH ones.

Thank you so much! And for the record, Susannah's tag is here and I think I've gotten (almost) everything in the last year.

Before that it gets sketchy, but everything since she returned to the bar twenty years older should be there, even the OOMs she does not actually appear in.

You're welcome and I just really love reading what you're doing with that world.

I have had great help developing everything with other muns. My special thanks go to:

Lynne (playing X-23), Sweeney (my partner in crime lo these many years), Rym (whose input has been invaluable), Shati (who has yet to murder me for talking her ear off and who has helped me brainstorm), Batya (who is my equal partner in all things Tet-related) Aspen (who has brought Susan Delgado out of the shadows once or twice at key moments), and the person who posted this thread--Joann?--who I don't know well (obviously) but have enjoyed playing Rose with in mixed_muses. I have learned unexpected bits about her and gotten some relief from my own meanness.

And I will make a separate tag about my favorites from the last year because this is getting v. long.

That reminds me that I should really tag Rose one time with my OC who lives over in mixed muses. I keep meaning to and then get distracted by something else.

Rose or *rueful* any of her descendants who seem to be multiplying over there. Ohhhh futurefic. More addictive than heroin.

>.>

This is true. Billy-mun and I started a future AU with a huge Skrull conspiracy which is kind of on hold right now...

...due to plotting the conspiracy being more fun than the actual threading itself. Oh dear.

...been there, done that. *high five!*

*high-fives back* Also, Mafia AUs are similarly addictive.

*waves* It is not a thing, take your time. I just-- *eyes OOMs* In some universe, somewhere, Rose's New Year does not suck. That is nice to think about!

They are. Rose is much better at coping with things that are concrete ('this is my girlfriend') than things that are abstract ('I think I would like to have a girlfriend maybe') and she's so much happier and together and braver with Kelsi.

I know the rule against OCs in the bar is a good rule. I do.

I do.

Couples: I will always have some severe love for Jim and Pam, but I am very very biased. :)

Additionally: the thread between Cuddy and Wooster filled me with much delight.

The Halloween hijinks were also marvelous.

As a newbie, I can totally say "all of it" and get away with being lazy.

Go team me. \o/

I REALLY DO.

WHATCHA GONNA DO ABOUT IT?

YOU'RE A BAD PERSON AND YOU SHOULD FEEL BAD.

OH MY GOD FINE.

Um. Um.

I have a really bad memory and Mandas was all touching and stuff but I just want to say that she and III-mun have made everything here awesome for me.

(hmm, who am I leaving out? I WONDER.)

(PSSST IT'S BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS ALL SLOW AND I LENT MY BROTHER MY DS FOR HIS BIRTHDAY. *siiiiighs* I HAD NOTHING BETTER TO DO.)

[[You do! Fine, here:]]

We gallifrump through the gelatinous internet
Flagellating with our melodious words and fickle phrasings
Come to me, muse of that gloriously parsimonious bar
O! Milliways! Thy naturations are to me!
Like magnificent Banahs from a turgid bee!

Alack.

Not comprehensive...

[personal profile] campkilkare 2008-12-31 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I really enjoy a four-years-coming payoff with Moiraine! Aspen is amazing.

Lynne is also amazing--when I look at the X-23 Susannah met this time last year and then look at X-23 as she is now... wow. What a long way she's come, and all of it handled beautifully.

Sweeney and Batya (and Gen and Muji and...) continued to break my heart and thrill me with the progress and setbacks of the Tam family (and the whole crew) this year.

People I know less well! Doc Scurlock has become a rough-and-tumble bar fixture in the last year, and made me sorely miss my own cowboy bounty hunter. Nice to know there's still a place for a quick-witted and quick-handed mundie in the bar.

Is it cheating if I bring up the Half-Life contingent? I know Cam pretty well, but not the mun behind Alyx Vance. Really enjoyed watching that unfold.

I will second the Jim/Pam love because... Jim! Pam!

Aaaand one more before this turns into an epic. Hannah Griffith. I could never, ever play a completely ordinary person and KEEP them ordinary and still fascinating. I remember being like, "What? Who? Logan's girlfriend for five seconds?" when I first saw her in the bar, and now... jeez. Talent!

Oh, and self-pimping--Monkey and Cameron have had some amazing conversations. Monkey has been in the game a long time and had fun with many people, but never quite clicked with anyone like he has with Cameron. Something about non-living creatures of destruction and chaos forcibly retrained to protect total idiots for the sake of global salvation...

Goodness. I . . . thank you. I don't really know what to say beyond . . . thank you.

And Happy New Year.

[identity profile] alt-hulk.livejournal.com 2008-12-31 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Um, tons? I have a bunch bookmarked, but I'll have to say that I loved HLplot, I loved Revan-John Vattic, I loved Barney's Convos thread with, I loved CivWar, and.... yeah. There was tons of awesome.

Also, I want to give a shout-out to Banah for being amazing and getting me back into comics/Marvel, giving me a universe to become reacquainted with and to obsess over, and for sharing my love of 'what if's and AUs. Milliways would not be half as awesome for me without her poking and prodding, which initially started with 'I wish I had a Teddy' in crackchat and just took off from there.

(Thanks, dear. Love you lots, and Happy New Year!)

ALSO PAID ACCOUNT WOO.

And for others: pretty much anything with Raven, Coyote, X-23, Lissar, Teja, Susannah Toren et. al., the Organization XIII, the Transformers...

Oh! Oh! Caprica-Six's first EP/OOM (http://six-ofone.livejournal.com/764.html) was excellent.

Constantine/Ianto, and the subsequent trainwreck of a break-up, this year's Halloween (http://community.livejournal.com/ways_back_room/3837281.html), Pepper Potts....

AND WANDA. CUZ SHE'S AWESOME.

I've really liked, but keep neglecting to recommend, the threads with Scaramouche and Sir Nicholas Fury. The father-daughter relationship is just wonderful to read. It's also an example of an 'only in Milliway's' relationship, because it's likely to make anyone not familiar with the game think you're nuts for suggesting it.

I also really enjoyed my first ever plot when Annabelle participated in the Half-Life 2 plot.

There's been so much awesome that everybody's already covered... squee! ahem. anyway. :)

I'll give a shout out to the wonderful Ray-Jhalak dynamic; the father-daughter relationship is cute in and of itself, and adding the whole trans-species thing into it makes it twenty times cooler! *geeks out*

And of course, Kate's ever-awesome Sherwood plottiness, because that was a blast to participate in, plain and simple. How do you knock a twenty-fourth century pilot a millennium out of her timeframe and still have her be useful twice in a row? That's how! :D!
