What is your favorite icon for a particular pup and why? Also, if you disagree with the favorite icon of a pup's that someone else lists, pick a better one and explain!

A fairly recent addition to Mal's collection, and one of ... actually, I think it is the only one in black and white. Oh wait! There is actually another one but it's from a Nathan Fillion photo shoot, so it tends to not stand out in my head as Mal. I feel like this is pretty easily read as Mal's personality lately: listening, more controlled than he used to be when he was younger.

Or he's getting old. I wonder which answer he would pick. *thwaps him*


Greenhouse! I like this one because it's the most...heh, organic, of SARAH's icons. It's got the aesthetic behind her, sure, but not enough is made of her plantlife in the show.

That being said, I don't make nearly enough of it in the game. =T I gotta work on that.



My favorite for Eisenheim. Not too much of a story behind this one. I feel like it looks like it's a painting more than a screencap, and very time-appropriate.





I don't even get a choice with this one for Sallie. EVERY TIME I USE THIS ICON, SOMEONE IMS ME AND GOES 'OMFG LOVE SALLIE'S ICON'. Thusly, it is my pick. It was either this or Sallie's shaking-fist icon, which I also love.





Last but not least, Carlisle Cullen.

Because a blond Peter Facinelli is a crime against nature, I don't care what SMeyer says.

ETA: Also because I want Carlisle to have a spine, this icon is good for when he's being serious.

Oh, smeg... every time I get a new icon it's my favourite. But the one I'm currently proudest of is this: The Dani in this pic started as a young AndrAIa, who, for those who don't know, looked like this at the time. I had no idea I could do something like this until I'd done it. Behold my mad Photoshoppery skillz! Woot! \o/

This one's more a conceptual than a visual favourite. I made it both as a relaxation pic, and for when Tucker is, in some way, acting "insufficiently black".

It's a nice shot.

This shows Robin's exuberant side, which is a good 75% of the fox's personality. Poor boy, it's been ages since I put him in. *makes a note to do that*

I love this one - Laranth is being serious and focused and just a bit skeery. And, seriously, green twi'leks are hard to find on the internets! Who knew? I think this one started as sort of blue.

I chose this one, because I don't use it as often, and she gets to be all confident in it, but her 'durbrain' icon is also a favorite. :D

That Sallie icon totally makes me grin, yo. (As does the fist-shakin' one.)

This is a fairly recent addition to Kate's icon batch; I adore the coloring (it's 100x100 slices like this that make me wish I had mad icon-making skills), and this scene from Day Two of 24 is such a small, personal moment that I draw tiny invisible hearts around every time I see it.


Um um um because it's Ben, through and through. And the quote is love.

In other news, whyyyy did I agree to a 9 a.m. copy desk shift? Working quote-unquote real hours is disconcerting.

To say I am not good at iconning is an understatement. I don't even have a decent shot of Kirk in uniform. It's just not something I have embraced, as I have noted many times.

But the icon I am using for this post is one I am very fond of. More than any photo of Knox/Robert Wuhl, it sums the man up. He is from 1992, and still uses a typewriter! He will use one for as long as he lives, even after his bosses make him do everything on disc. Why? Not because he's a Luddite but because it's what a reporter uses. It's that simple.

From the most recent Green Arrow/Black Canary, which had a story as part of DC's Origins and Omens line. The trouble is: the current writer apparently hates women, including Dinah, and his retconning her canary cry as killing on of her best friends in school in as far as I'm concerned in no way canon. Except that the character in question was clearly her gay BFF, and Milliways has proven teen Dinah to be a total faghag.

But the art in the current line is quite nice, and makes good icons, especially as modern art of brunette Dinah is so rare.

Death in Opera reds From the Paul Kidby art on an invitation to a private publication party for the Maskerade paperback. At the time I had a good friend whose father worked for Pterry's publishers, and they used the invitation as a card to me, which was nice. I don't have many different icons for Death, because it's not like he can do facial expressions, but it's nice to have some for his costumes, and the Phantom plot was a lot of fun.

The best part about iconning Will is giving him VR SRS keywords. I absolutely straight up adore this scene in AWE, because it's so obviosus that a) Will is having the time of his life being FOR ONCE the guy in charge, holding the cards and having power, and b) Orlando is having the time of his life playing an honest brave fellow trying to be smug and smarmy and not quite sure what to to with the cards now he's holding them. It takes talent for a pretty boy with a teacup to upstage Bill Nighy with a moving, CGI beard.

Some of these were hard decisions to make.

Because it just feels very Amyish to me. (But so do a lot of her others, honestly, and I might very easily have picked a different one on another day.)

This one just makes me smile every time I see or use it.

My still-far-too-infrequently-played Betty. I think it's pretty, and nicely optimistic.

The only default icon I picked. Hannah's had 3-4 default icons over the years, and the others were much more neutral in mood (mine tend to be). But after everything I put her through, I sort of feel like she earned the right to have this as default icon, and I love it.

There are others of Meg's I like as much as this one, but has always stuck me as the way Meg sees, or would like to see, herself.

You know, things get interesting in a hurry where icons are concerned when your pup has four canonical PBs in three episodes, none of whom you really use for day-to-day in-bar threads. But I think this one is pretty, and the apparent utter lack of concern about the gun pointed at her works for her.

Oh man, I have LOTS of favorite icons for Mia. But I think, fortunately for her, my most favorite one is not the one where she's climbing out of the bath and just starting to dry off, as shown above. (It is one of my favorites, to be fair...)

That said, I think this one is my favorite. Even knowing the context of the entire picture. Because she looks so cute and happy in this picture and, quite frankly, the rest of the pictures of her in the novels are.....kind of creepy. If not because of a different sort of Ghaleon factor then because she was drawn a little creepy.

This is my favorite icon to use for Narcissa. In the actual manga that she's taken from, the character is named Nia and she's an ancestor of Mia's rather than her daughter. But she's just so cute! I found one picture of her and colored it the way I imagined Narcissa to look, but this one felt better left alone.

This is my favorite icon for Cepheus. For lots of reasons. XD

And, also for lots of reasons, this is my favorite icon for Scorpius.

Didn't think I was gonna forget ol' Homestar, didja? Well, it has been forever since I played him. But EVERYONE loves this icon.

Probably my all-time favorite for Teddy, even though it includes Billy. The pose is just so cute, and it's probably the closest they're getting to a kiss any time soon. Though with Runaways, that may soon change! *holds out hope*
I also love his default A LOT. I made it myself, and the subtle composition is something I'm extremely proud of, for a 100^2 square.

It's hard to say for Barney, because they're all so different, but I think this one is my favorite. He's such a big teddy bear, but if you get on his bad side, you're pretty much screwed. I think my favorite thing about all of his icons is that nearly all of them have the color blue in them somewhere, and rather obviously. Since his journal name is blueshifted, it's a nice touch. Actually, I should go and fix the ones that aren't blueish, now that I think about it.

I wish this icon of the Heavy's had more uses. Because it just makes me grin every time I see it.

I love this icon of John's, because it's just so... dorky. I'd picked out Jason Statham as John's PB long before I found this image, and then I realized--they're the same person or something. I just want to pet him on the head in this one.

I love all of Tommy's pretty much equally, but my favorite expression of his is probably his floppy, self-assured smile. It just makes me giggle.

Chell also has color-themed icons! But I just love the smile in this one. It's pretty much what led me to pick this girl (Crystal Kay) as her PB.

I have a not-so-sekrit pup as well, but he doesn't have very many icons at all, because I've been lazy with him. :/

- This is, by far, my favorite Revan icon. Mostly because the quote I use for keywords with it describe the concept behind it best: "Each forward step we take, we leave some phantom of ourselves behind". And that just really best describes Revan altogether.

- Freddie Highmore, while extremely adorable, has never entirely fit my perception of Artemis Fowl - Arty is just not that adorable. But this one, with the look, is pretty close. So it's my favorite.

- I really, really need to play Scorpius more. But mostly I like this one the best for little Scorp because it reminds me the most of a Malfoy. It's the 'bitch please' look.

- Honesty? Jackson Rathbone is so pretty to look at, I like all of Jasper's icons. And I was going to pick another icon as I rather like it more than this one, but Jasper's default face - :| - is summed up so nicely in this picture that I had to go with it.

- Firstly? There are not enough Jo icons out there. Seriously, this girl needs more love in the fandom. But I like this one the best because it shows her playful/snarky side (aka: when she's poking fun at Carter), which I've always liked about Jo on the show.

This one is my favorite for Raven, even if I do not get to use it that often. It's the light, and the silhouette, and you just know after this moment he's either going to do something awesome or horrifiying. Or both.

I like this one for X because it pretty accurately sums up where her head is at a lot of the time. Even with friends.

One reason I like this icon is because it has Sammy in it! And it's also . . . . only going to get more and more accurate as time goes on. Especially the key words. *sad*

Nynaeve will fuck your shit up. That's all I'm saying.

I didn't really get to use this much, but Galadan knows the truth of it TO HIS SOUL.

The graffiti on this icon is so apt for Michael. I didn't even have to photoshop anything! Gen may have, but I think it was mostly image brightening.

Jordan is a special little girl, and sometimes I think she would have fit in nicely with The Shining. So.

I never get to use this one, but she really would smoke a cigar. She would probably have that same expression on her face, too.

Elle: I like her default icon a lot, because I made it myself and I like how it works in her profile and how it sets a colder and more serious tone for her. But I also really like because the expression is so spot-on, though I like the keywords I used for it in my own icons better ("not a sad little smile"). And and because I can use them ALL THE TIME, and I really like what's been captured in them.


Six is probably weirdly because I love it in combination of the keywords I chose for it. And , because I remember just finding it at exactly the right time that I needed it, and like above, I just love what it captures.


Carla is probably because it's good for her and can be used in a lot of different ways.

- I don't know why, but I've always had a certain amount of fondness for dorktastic!Tristran who was completely and utterly inept at everything. Sure, it shows up even when he gets all hot and made-over, but it's most pronounced at the beginning of the story. And look at his 'haha I dunno what to say' expression!

- Happy grinny Sora is my favourite kind of Sora. I get some pretty bad character-bleed when he gets sad.

- Same goes for James. Plus, I find myself using this icon a lot.

- I think this icon is so Hermione.

- This pretty much sums up Remy on a whole, I think: defiant, tiny, and has a lot of passion. Damn. I really need to play this little guy more. :\

- I'm a complete and utter sap - so sue me. I love this icon. It's too pretty.

- I like Seth's 'o hay guyz!" default icon because...well, I don't know why. *cough* I really need to EP him.

I really like Shulkie's default icon. I love the expression on her face - it's halfway between thoughtful and smiling, and she inhabits both almost equally in her life.

<-- My new fave for Shulkie is this one, with art by Mark Brooks. Her expression is classic, and it shows off her fantastic rack.


<-- This was my very first icon for Kendra. It was made for me by a good friend, and I absolutely adore the Alex Ross art. I like it because it's her with Carter, and they're both sort of contemplative. As well as heavily armed, as is their wont.

<-- Honorable mention goes to this one, because it's Kendra in a HUGE brawl with Scandal in midair, and she's fighting so hard that her mask comes off. I rarely get to use this icon, which is a damn shame.

-- More a Gabriel icon than a Sylar one, but I love the lighting and the way the clocks, even if they're hidden by shadow, take up the most space in the picture.

-- It's just pretty. Running a very close second, though, is this, which is not only one of the few times Gaeta smiles in the whole damn show, but is such a heartbreakingly sweet expression to boot. Even more so when you include the context of the scene. :(
