Cubefall edition!

Now I'm sure oodles of Cubefall stuff went up in Sunday Indulgences, but I thought a DE recap of the holiday would be a good idea. Talk about what you liked, what happened with your character, etc. Did anyone keep their reconfigurations? Did anyone really really wanna but there was no way they could have possibly done so?

I think my highlights were...aw, damnit, I'm not sure I can pick just one or two. Sallie picking up Sam Winchester and Charlie while youngified was just spectacular, whereas SARAH as a Cylon just was way too cool. Though I'm not sure she ever needs to tell Jack Carter that Zoe suggested she get laid. :D???

Doc got turned into a fennec fox (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2082/1577506262_03177b0e0f.jpg), and was glad for a few days to escape his current problems. He also enjoyed a tongue bath (http://community.livejournal.com/milliways_bar/21835615.html?thread=959127135#t959127135) from Coyote. And then there were hunting lessons, and delicious snacks of demon bunnies.

He was the only pup who played, and while it might have been tempting to stay a fox for awhile longer, there would never be a serious consideration to keeping it.

Though he wants to be another fox or coyote the next time a change event happens, so that he can go explore the desert properly.

I know! I was going to go to sleep, and then plotting overtook my brain and kept me awake. Also - neck pain. But I'm going now, I swear it!

Zoe would like to request that her father NEVER hear that, yes.

^_^;; I'm sure. Poor Jack.

Felix enjoyed it quite a lot. He took the "new beginnings" part very seriously, turned into a bird, and was much more pleased with it than he expected. Neither he nor I had any intention of making it stick, however; he'd much rather stick with his familiar Earth-aligned human form, and I don't want to snarl up timelines that much.

Aaaand he's already told me what he's doing next Cubefall. Some headvoices...

Charlie as Captain Atom was tons of fun. He found being a metal-coated extremely powerful metahuman both liberating and disturbing. That much power can't be good for the wielder, and Charlie is now pretty sure that there is a reason some of his world's super-heroes are rather unstable.

At the same time, like at any costume party, he was relaxed being someone else. He was very comfortable flirting with Tali and with Sallie, even though he knew that neither was who they seemed to be. It will be interesting to have him meet them again when one is an alien and the other is in her 60s, but for now, he's glad he had the chance to meet them (and to take Sallie flying). And he had a hoot showing off his powers.

In the end, though, he's glad that he is himself again. I am hoping that he gets to talk with other people who were Cubified and see how they reacted to being animals, robots, the other gender, etc. Not sure if he'll do it again next year, though. (Next year might the time to see about convincing Knox to try. Can guarantee, though, that Cyborg will say no, since any option offered will remind him that he's a cyborg in a way that's not fun.)

Oh, and the fact that he was flirting rather actively has reminded him that it's been a while since he's met anyone, and I think it's high time he get into a romance.

defy_ka about Sallie keeping her reconfiguration.

I have never actually done Defy Ka. But if you do, let Charlie and me know.

Neither Meg nor Verity got reconfigured, but Meg wound up with a rabbit!angel in her lap, and Verity had a, um, hare-raising run in with security.

Ray got to do a voluntary version of something that happened to him at Halloween years and years and years ago: turn into a Cybertronian who could fly. I picked G1 Jetfire for his form, mostly because Jetfire's alt mode was a damn sweet Valkyrie VF-1 from Macross and because Jetfire was a scientist. Didn't realize until the third day that his paintjob actually matches his daughter's:

But then again, their colors matched before, too, more or less:

So, anyway, yeah. It was cool.

Okay, so I already gathered up all the links over here, but in conclusion: Moist kept his and I was so not expecting that at all and it is awesome.
(I do have to wonder whether he could have made a fully-informed decision if Coreen hadn't pointed out the badass potential of his canon state. If you're going to give something up, you have to know all of what you're giving up.)

But, well. He thought it was the best thing overall, in the end. And there's always next year if he changes his mind.

Yes, it's an awesome decision. We'll totally have to play with that, re: compelling Moist to be a lab assistant. You knew it was coming.

I did. And I don't think he's going to take much compelling, really. Knowing he'd have something like job security was a big factor in his final decision.

I had a lot of fun with Cubefall though I would have had more fun if work hadn't gotten in the way. *cue Dr. Doom voice* Curse you WOOOOOORRRRRRKKKKK!!!!!

Anyway, Ben Grimm got turned into an Asian dragon who has a knack for lounge singing (Destiny (http://pucca.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Destiny) from the TV show Pucca to be exact). This didn't turn out to be as awesome as I had expected and I blame work for derailing to crack.

Val had fun being Arcee from the original Transformers animated movie. She had so much fun in fact, I'm still on the fence about whether she stays in that form until next Cubefall. Chances are she will go back to her human form but I don't want to close that door until she's done talking with Scarlet about it (http://community.livejournal.com/milliways_bar/21855886.html).

Cleo didn't go to Bar for Cubefall. There's only so much she can take you know.

Coreen...had a fairly crappy Cubefall. Highlights: Helping Moist, getting a free tea, hanging out with a few friend. Lows? Fighting without fighting with robo-Joe. She prefers him himself anyway. The fact that he could read chemical reactions in her and how she reacts to things intimidated her.

Shrug.

She's more looking forward to a mini-holiday she's planning soon.

Cal is the only one of my pups who did Cubefall. This was not my plan, but oops. You know how these things go.

He did not partake in transformation - he did not, in fact, even bother to look at the options offered (which is too bad, since one of them was a binome, which would have been some decent practice) - but he had a good time with people who did.

Enzo was a dragon! (http://community.livejournal.com/milliways_bar/21823450.html?thread=958579674#t958579674) Cal watched him practice flying.

He also had an entertainingly silly argument (http://community.livejournal.com/milliways_bar/21826666.html?thread=958698602#t958698602) with Atton the polar bear.

And, most importantly on a personal level, his relationship with Izzie Stevens got an upgrade from acquaintance to friendship as he helped her enjoy her time spent cancer-free (http://community.livejournal.com/milliways_bar/21825304.html?thread=958607384#t958607384). I expect they would have become friends anyway - they were well on the way already - but that thread gave them a huge boost. Which, I think, is the way in which the spirit of change in Cubefall most manifested for Cal.

Also: the Legos were awesome. Cal is so getting some for his apartment after he leaves Milliways.

Yaaaay, Cal and Izzie. ♥ Their new friendship has made me very happy.

Ianto built things! This made him happy.

Archy was human! He wrote lots of poetry and got to use the shift key and enjoyed the hell out of it. I need to officially change him back, I think, but it was grand to have him stretch out a bit.

Chuck and Izzie probably enjoyed their new forms the mostest, but there was absolutely no way, with canon taken into consideration, that either of them could've kept them. (Especially with Izzie, because I have no idea whether or not she'll even be alive come fall. Sigh.)

Em, on the other hand, probably would've liked to stay older, but I also want to get her through her canon before any aging happens.

As for Cuddy... well, she's very happy to be back to being human again. Very.

Hey, Daniel and Becket had fun being the opposite sex.

Okay, so I'm curious: other than obvious reasons [viz. having to go through canon as a dead girl who Ned can't touch], what excuse did you give to have Chuck not be alive anymore? In other words, why wouldn't she keep her new form?

Other than the obvious reason of canon, Ned-mun and I had already discussed waiting until the canon of the show finished to give her the option of having her be technically "alive" (mostly because we have other plans in store for them).

Mia turned herself into a very tiny robot while Draco accidentally turned himself into a very large robot. She spend most of her time riding around on his shoulder. And Demeter helped her build an elevator so she could get from the bar to the floor and back.

Draco was a Transformer for the holiday, and his wife Mia was like a Persocom. It was weird and cute. He was definitely out of sorts with being something so counter from wizardy and magic.

Kate enjoyed being a hawk this time around, and had fun with Will as a fox. She also ran into Kitai as a horse in a slowtime.

I just spent time watching and being utterly floored by the number of people who took advantage of it, whether for changes or RP or just showing up to hang out, and am pleased people found it interesting and fun.

Not really. Maybe Todd, It would help with his interaction around the bar. But not really.

Well, Seras did get turned into a particularly cute kitten, that goes by the name of Dust-bunny. But she likes being what she is, human.

Daniel is happy to be a man again, no matter how attractive and creative being Audry is. (She thought it was hilarious by the way.)

And Todd got to be human. No one talked to him but Tesla and the Devil. He's not all that impressed being human. I think he likes being a Wratih.

*wanders off in a depressed stupor* 6 more days. *grumbles about grandparents being jerks*

My cousin's Husband got a yellow bug! He's named it Bummblebee and we were talking about getting it an Autobot decal for the front. And I said "happy Cubefall!" and had to explain that it was over, and what it was. And they thought it was great.

So, Melpomene was the only one who ended up changing. She became mortal, probably around 55 years old. It was an experience. Still writing a not-really-OOM on that one.

Demeter really enjoyed Cubefall since it fits in quite well with just what she represents and loves. Also I found an amazing Demeter statue that she thought about transforming into but since part of being a Greek god means she can change whenever she wants to, it wasn't as big a deal. Here it is, I need to make an icon out of it but its such a large image that my iconning fu isn't quite up to it.

Will turned into a fox since he seems to really enjoy that form because things are simpler.

Cubefall provided a major plot point for Dr. River Song. And yes, she's keeping it. (Watch for a millitimed "Cubefall Day 3" thread later today, and come celebrate with her!)

Teja was an eagle -- and enjoyed flying on his own wings, and hunting demon bunnies.

Some things don't even change for Cubefall, though: - like deeply emotional declarations of love to Charlie!

Yrael didn't do anything for Cubefall but have enjoyable sex with a female!Nikola Tesla.
