Daily Entertainment.

Has anyone picked up any between-season shows to watch? Do you have any to recommend. I have like, zero teevee going on, it's weird. I watched the pilot for The Listener last night, which I think will stick around for me for a little bit. (Even though I can't shake that the main guy is an older Kyle XY.)

Burn Notice, Season 3, just started last week! It is muy awesome. Hence why I have [livejournal.com profile] miami_axe.

Seconding the suggestion. Lexie turned me on to Burn Notice some time ago, and after about three episodes in, I was completely hooked. Fiona with Molotov cocktails was the final thing that made me buy S1 on DVD.

I am sorry, Steph, I failed you this weekend. Nathan Fillion's autograph was £20. ;_;

Also, Naoko Mori cancelled.

But we met Nathan Fillion and Draco Malfoy and the goddamn Leonard Nimoy, and Emma got kissed by Burn Gorman. So it worked out okay.

I'm no good on the TV thing, sorry: I don't watch it enough.

I haven't picked up anything new. In fact, I need to re-watch what has aired of Eureka S3 before the new eps air.

But I've been doing re-watches of Bones and Dark Angel. Um. *looks cute*

We are hoping to catch up on things we missed, like Castle. The remaining episodes of Kings are due to start running again this week, and Merlin is finally making its way to NBC (though I expect to hate it).

For the most part, though, when we are not busy, I think I will just look to see what's out there from old shows that bear rewatching. I have found tons of classics on Hulu, and AOL's In2TV, and other sites. (I swear, I am not buying any more DVDs of old TV shows. I bought the first season of Bob Newhart, and there are three seasons already on Hulu.)

I recorded that pilot! I just haven't watched it yet. Worth it?

As for other things-- I'm waiting on Kings to return so I can see my sister's episode, waiting on True Blood season 2 to start because I am evidently hooked on this cheesy Southern vampire series, waiting on America's Got Talent because... I don't know why I'm so fascinated by that show DO NOT JUDGE ME, and waiting on Project Runway season 6 because I like fashion shows.

... wow, that's a lot of things. I'm surprised at myself.

I need to watch that show so I can do Toronto-spotting. :D

...Also AHAHAAA COLM FEORE IS IN IT. So that makes 24, The Listener, and Macbeth at Stratford that he's in in the last 6 months or so. This could start to be a drinking game.

I'm another one who needs to catch up on all the things I missed, more than anything else. (Hello, Castle!) I am terrible at keeping up with shows. Or, um, starting them. But I am always happy to add more good shows to my list of things I should get around to watching sometime?

Mostly I've been reading a lot recently. It makes me happy. I feel like I'm getting back a habit that I mostly lost back in college. I mean, I always read, of course, but it's been a while since I could reliably point to a stack and go "Here's what I've read this week!"

I am mostly focused on how pathetic it is that I consider myself "jetlagged" because I couldn't keep my eyes open at around 1 AM (... sorry guys! -__-) and woke up at 10 AM. WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH THAT?

I'm not really watching anything in particular "between-seasons," beyond my existing cycle of getting Buffy, SPN, and The West Wing from Netflix. I'm about done with SPN though, so I might end up replacing it with something else when the time comes.

[identity profile] nothawkingbird.livejournal.com 2009-06-08 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Been watching So You Think You Can Dance with my mom. Uh, let's saw an ep of the Unusuals which isn't bad. Still need to see Castle. Also waiting for Kings to come back. I hope HBO or Showtime picks it up. Stupid NBC.

[identity profile] kali921.livejournal.com 2009-06-08 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
The Unusuals is a great concept but is kind of failing in execution, although I love the obviously intricate Larger Plot that is slowly but surely going to be unfold.

I've gone back to the classics. I'm starting to rewatch Quantum Leap, for instance -- Hulu's posted the entire first season -- and it makes me SO HAPPY. :D That show was my childhood, man.

(I'm also watching some original series Star Trek, which is pretty neat from a fannish/geeky ancestry POV. So many tropes! So many instances of, "oh, that's where that came from!" And the show itself makes me giggle a lot, too...mostly for unintentional reasons. Oh, William Shatner.)

ETA: Oh! And while it's only aired one episode, and won't be airing any more until the fall I think, Glee makes me very, well, gleeful. I want to hug that show lots.

I kinda fail at keeping appointment TV, really. But I want to check out Royal Pains at some point - though I suspect the girl is going to be the best part of the show. XD

Saw my first ever episode of Burn Notice. It seems highly entertaining, and I'm going to see about finding the first two seasons.

Roomies and I are working our way through Weeds, and are almost caught up to real time. This saddens me because there's nothing worse than having to wait.

When we remember we're also working our way through The X-Files which I'd never seen before now.

Um...what else?
I'm hoping to watch The Shield at some point, and maybe finish Freaks and Geeks. Plus, there's the entire collection of Turtle Cartoons....

Busy busy busy.

Yes. Highly recommended. And not just because I'm madly in lust with James Franco. -ahem-

Want to catch up on Castle if only I could remember when it's on. Will probably finish season 1 of True Blood on DVD. Looking forward to Merlin and Torchwood.

Other than that...Cartoon Network, mostly. I'm so gone on The Mighty Boosh it's ridiculous.

My family's caught up on Harper's Island. ... I have no excuse, really.

We love CSI-type crime shows- but this is being more of a slasher/gore/thriller thing than any legitimate mystery. But that's ok! We're applying all of our Criminal Mind-style profiling to try to figure out who the killer could be (since there's no forensic Skience! for us to use). We got it narrowed down to

I love how people are just now discovering Burn Notice. I heart my show! (Michael Westen in the bar soon! ~happy dance~)

Ahem.

Also? Royal Pains was very, very well done. I really enjoyed the pilot and will be watching that again.

I have no TV going on. I also have no real computer as my main one has killed itself mostly dead and I only have it limping along with essentially text.

Deeply suboptimal. Deeply.

Wish me luck on the effort to put together a new system?

There is basically nothing currently airing that I am watching - but I am so, so hooked on Korean TV right now, it is a little ridiculous. I think because they do not have the same sort of TV seasons on Korean networks! They set a start date and an end date and then it's done! Which is sort of reassuring, really.

BUT YES. I am re-watching some shows, and watching new ones. I recently finished Wonderfalls, and am now going through Merlin. Afterwards... hmm. Reaper is a possibility, as is Babylon Five and re-watching Psych.

HEY. I suspect you could help me with this! Where does a person find the first half of Chuck S2 online? I mean, beyond the totally illegal places I certainly don't know about. Hulu only starts at 2.12, and I just finished S1 last night and WANT MORE. MORE PLZ.

I've decided to give Six Feet Under a try on the strength of True Blood. Alan Ball's a local boy (or what passes for one), and I like HBO show structure.

Also there's the second half of this season of Ugly Betty, which I stopped watching when I realized I had seven shows per week and that was WAY TOO MUCH.

...also, America's Got Talent is coming back on at the end of the month, and as it's the closest thing I'm going to get to The Gong Show until that's released on DVD, you'd better BELIEVE I'm all over that. At least until the tryouts are over.

Oh, Six Feet Under is phenomenal; the writing and the cast are outstanding, and it made me fall in love with Alan Ball's brain. (And if you liked the humor of Dead Like Me -- which was Showtime, I think? -- it's a safe bet it's gonna be love at the first disc.)

Saving Grace starts up again on the 16th. Hurrah for new canon! I'm also waiting for True Blood and Leverage, and entertaining myself with NCIS, Burn Notice and Friday Night Lights in the meantime. Yeah, I watch too much television. :D?

I missed the pilot airing of The Listener so I went to download it, only to discover there are 13 episodes already! Which will be wonderful or terrible depending.
