I finally (almost) finished a cross-stitched gift for a friend I've been meaning to make for him for over a year. And a month before his birthday, too, which means I might actually NOT be sending his present a month late.
(Seriously, always late. The one time I managed to send it early, his apartment management office forgot to tell him it had arrived.)
I finally got rid of my giant pile of paper/cardboard recycling, and cleared off most of my dining room table for the first time in almost two years. Some stuff just has no natural place to be kept, I guess.
Also am making steady progress on a couple costumes that have been sitting around the apartment in pieces for a few months now (and a year, in the case of one). Even decided on a few older ones to give away to some lucky locals.
RP-wise, I'm happy with the finishing of Weyland's OOMage with Kate and with Melpomene; looking forward to some further evil things that are in the works for him; and enjoying a bit of sqrl mayhem that is in progress right now.
I'm close to being done with the drip irrigation project at home. It has certainly turned out to be a beastly project, massive in scope and vicious in practice. I've had many scraped knuckles from it.
I've finally accepted that my relationship with my iPod Touch is a sado-masochistic one and I find I am okay with that. Additionally, I have figured out how to turn it into a comic reader. I now have a mobile way to read my massive digital comic collection! \o/
And I learned how to diagram a sentence. A very useful skill which I am sure I never learned in school.
I found a 1900 edition of Plutarch's Lives in original boards and in rather nice condition (smells wonderful, with no water-damage or mold), yesterday.
RP has kinda slowed to a crawl. Anyone want to play today?
There are lots of things in real life - at work, at home, at my synagouge - that are sort of ongoing projects. I guess I take pride in keeping my head above water with all of them.
After a week and a half of screamingly painful labor and constant conversations with Research in Motion, I got the company's Blackberry configuration working again.
(context: I've never been at all comfortable with manual transmission vehicles. This, combined with many moons of no practice, makes the accomplishment a reasonably big deal.)
Not failed my exams, gotten a year's internship at the National Museum of Archaeology (now if only they would pay me), not gone gibberingly, foamingly insane at cast list stuffs (yet).
I am also fairly proud of my photoshop hijinkery in a recent Crowley OOM, and the fact that I cooked a ~fancy meal~ for four for Father's Day which included handmade vanilla/amaretto/white chocolate chip ice cream (no ice cream maker for me!) drizzled in handmade caramel and served in - wait for it - handmade chocolate bowls. Yeah, bitches, that's right. CHOCOLATE BOWLS. And I only nearly gave myself frostbite once.
RP, I've got a lovely OOM on the dock for when I send Moist home (which will be soon, now that the bit with Doc is OOCly sorted out). RL, I broke 50 pages on my latest original project last night. 50 pages of 10-point Verdana, too, so that'd be even longer in a more respectable font. And... well, I have a good feeling about this story. (If anyone's played off of Grace the hyperactive princess, when I've tossed her in MM? She's in this.)
RL: Have not made my babysitting charge cry yet, though I must note that this doesn't mean she hasn't, just that it wasn't my fault.
I count this as a good thing as I have three cats, none of which are declawed, and two men in the house, only one of which has any semblance of common sense in dealing with small children. (It's the daddy pheremones, we swear.)
RP...I haven't completely failed at threading yet? :D?
I am actually surprised by how well I'm taking the recent "your Metro station is shut down until further notice; here, have a commute that's double the length of your normal commute" deal in stride.
(I guess because all of my flipping-out energy has been directed at other aspects of that particular incident. *wry* Still. Considering how stressed I usually get when my schedule changes without notice, I suppose it's something to be proud of?)
I...haven't attacked my step-family in a fit of annoyance? I'm proud of that, but you know, it's still fairly early in the week.
Ummm. RP. Coreen's going to have her baby soon, which is good. And I think she's pretty much figured out how to break the news about her heart to Sqrl.
I also have a pretty big thing I'm planning on doing with her once she's out of Bar after the baby before I send her back. Should be fun.
My boss's boss left recently, and my boss is backfilling his position. Which means she has just taken on a lot more responsibility Which means, as her support, I have also taken on a lot more.
One of my new responsibilities is checking on her every hour or so to make sure she's not curled in a fetal position under her desk, sucking her thumb. (It hasn't gotten that bad yet, but twice yesterday I found her flat on her back in the floor of her cube with her feet propped up on her desk--I just keep bringing her Diet Pespi.)
I have an apartment in Ann Arbor and I'm slowly working my way through all the stuff that was stored in my brother's garage. I finally did a Happy Hour which I love doing but life kept getting in the way this past month.
Um otherwise not too much, I keep meaning to write fic but they don't happen.
I'm finally getting things sorted for Cal and moving him out of Milliways, which is a major step for him and something I've been working toward bit by tiny bit since December. It needed to move slowly, since he needed time to deal with leaving his world behind, but if he puts it off any longer he's just going to start stagnating. So. To the Whoniverse's NYC (PS - Love to the Whoniverse muns for giving their blessings on that!), where I shall happily mess around with politics, set up a life for Cal, and eventually invoke the big canon plots in S4 that had a global impact. Also, whatever other plotting comes up. :D
RP, I've been pretty quiet recently. But I do have a couple of slowtimed threads I'm enjoying! River with the Fairy Queen, and Trowa having a sparring match (read: mostly lesson) with Cass, and... a couple others. I think I'm forgetting a couple. Uh. Oh and a short-so-far but fun thread of OCs with Merc over in mixed_muses! I think that last is the one I'm most proud of; I'm getting to explore a side of the character I haven't before, and it's a lot of fun.
RL: Worked on costumes for Dragon*Con! With seriously major help from wickedtrue and bookelfe, got a good start on designing a crazy bodice from scratch, as part of that! And basted together a tunic, which I now need to tailor all to pieces and back because the pattern was a) designed for a man, and b) designed for a Martian, apparently. But I'm okay with that! And was expecting it.
Also I am managing to keep up my momentum of reading lots. Which is not to say that I don't have a stack of unread library books to renew, la la la, but still! I'm proud anyhow. Plus most of them have been really interesting.
