I was barefoot earlier, too, because I got woken up by my dog freaking out at something outside. Turns out it was a terrier who had somehow gotten out and was wandering around our backyard. Sweetest little thing - healthy, and friendly too. We hooked him up on a leash, got him some water, and we were going to stick him in a small crate and call Animal Control.
Five minutes later, his owner pulled into our street looking for him.
Black high-top reeboks. Comfy enough to wear everyday, pretend-smart (i.e. black) to wear at public engagement jobs. I only have one pair of daily shoes.
I will be wearing machine-washable mesh-upper slip-ons that do not aggravate my ankle when I try to put them on. (Sprains should not take this long to heal fully.)
That said, within the next two hours I'll almost certainly have put on shoes. I think they're Nike cross-trainers or some such, but don't quote me on that.
One reason I love working at a university is that I can get away with jeans and sneakers all summer. :D Of course, this means I've been totally spoiled by the last few months; come September I'm going to have to go back to business casual, and it will make me sulk every day for a while.
A pair of gray stacked heels (at least that's what I think they're called) from a nearby store of vaguely yuppish pretentiousness. I can't remember which one. All I know is that my last pair of office dress shoes blew out on me some months back when the heel suddenly ripped away from the sole of the right shoe; these were the first office shoes I could physically reach that cost less than $100. (I refuse to buy shoes that expensive unless they're actual performance enhancers or protect my feet from some horrible environmental factor.)
Today is my first day back at my old job, so I get to dress up! The place where I was working was as casual as you want, so I went to work every day in jeans and Chucks or flip flops, but I'm very happy to be going back to a place where the dress code is business casual. In celebration, I'm wearing my favorite purpleheels.
Black and white low-cut Chucks with black and white striped laces. I wanted to wear my Doc Martens wingtips today but I couldn't find them. How one loses a pair of chunky Docs in an apartment is a mystery to me.
