I'm bored, so slap me silly with a side of subpoena

Is it just me, or are depressed pups the worst there could possibly be?

Speaking as a mun of one majorly depressed pup, I'm gonna go with "Yes, yes they are, me. They're so horrible, you just wanna huddle up under a blanket with'em and watch musicals all day until they feel better".

...although the musicals bit may be just, you know, my cunning battle strategy. Assuming, of course, you could cuddle up with your headvoices and watch musicals all day. I totally would, though. Especially with the cuddly ones. Anyways!

What's your cunning battle strategy in the fight against wayward pups? How do you deal with pups who just glooooooom their way through your head?

Hm. I think the best I've been able to manage for stuff like that's been something on the order of 'contact somebody who plays a completely WTF character, like Raven or Monkey or Invader Zim or something, and ask them about tagging my pup'. It may not actually cheer the pup up, but the value of WTF moments for jarring them out of ruts cannot be denied.

I have no clue as side form maybe finding someone the pup feels comfortable chatting with or spending some time on the Evil Karaoke machine.

I've been fortunate enough that none of my pups have been really depressed. Ben has been close and Val is in denial but none have actively been down for long.

Good luck.

When Kate Warner's particularly stressed or full of augh, I cling to ideas for fluffy plotty goodness in her future.

Kate, meanwhile, knocks boots with Bill Pardy more than usual. (Less action, more conversation in that link, I pinky-promise.) Orgasms as a coping mechanism -- one of the better ways to clear the mind, y/y? *g*

As for Ben Wade, well, Ben's pretty even-keeled. If he's particularly frustrated, he'll just go shoot someonething.

Ramon was depressed for about a year and he was damn near unplayable. He's not prone to that sort of emotion and doesn't know what to do with himself - hence, he got thrown in the cells a couple of times, got into even more trouble than normal and was generally a pain in the ass.

Ultimately, I had to fix what was depressing him because he was doing my head in so much. As soon as there was some resolution to his problem, he perked right up and it was all good again. :)

All depends on the pup for me but I find forcing them into doing something helps a lot. With Will, I distract him with his girlfriend and fighting and that usually helps a lot. Demeter is happier when she's helping someone else though her cases of depression tend to go all Winter sadly.

Also I'm with Cam on random slightly cracky can help a lot or even just random, the kind of thing where you go in not expecting serious or anything. Curling up with musicals sounds wonderful though, especially some Astaire and Rogers, they just make everything better.

River is, fortunately, fairly extroverted in her depression. That may not be the right word, because what I mean is not that she's exhibitionist about it, but that she's no good whatsoever at pretending she's cheerful when she's not. She mopes around under tables and hides in small corners and stares at the wall and stuff. So I can put her in, and people know at a glance that there's something wrong, which makes for decent thread-starting.

For Lan, uh, you can't tell, because he's stonefaced ALL THE TIME. There are very very few people who can tell when he's being extra stonefaced. I deal with his massive amounts of BROODING EMO MANPAIN by, um, putting them in allcaps like that and making affectionate fun of him, because he is so That Character. Threading-wise, I just throw him into the bar anyway and hope he isn't too repressive in his grunting at people, because he doesn't allow emo to interfere with his ongoing surveillance of whatever town/inn/magical apocalyptic bar he finds himself in.

Ava's going to ... kill some people ...?

That should cheer her right up.

This is true! Often a helpful tactic!

I mean, uh.
