Recently, Bonzo exercised one of his wishes (it took him long enough...*sigh*) and can now open his door pretty much wherever he wants in the Enderverse. Only after said wish, did I realize a bit of a side-effect of this, and hence Bonzo and Enzo had an OOM where they went into the Battle Room at Battle School.
To make a long story short (too late!), they had a blast but figured out that there was at least one thing they needed: More people. So, Bonzo and Enzo (and by connection Shiny and I) are going to try and organize another game that's not one-on-one, but instead has several people on a side.
For background (for those of you who haven't read Ender's Game), the Battle Room is basically a zero-gravity laser tag room. It's about 100 meters on a side, and will have an indeterminate number of "stars" (cubes, about 1-2 meters on a side, in the middle of the room) that can be landed on/used for cover/moved between. Both the walls of the room and the stars will have handles on them for grabbing onto. On two opposing sides of the room in the middle of the walls are the gates, where the players will enter/exit the room; there are other accessways, but they're sealed up pretty well.
This version of laser tag also has a bit of a variation: The suits that everyone wears in the games lock up when you get hit (if it's a leg shot, just a leg locks up, but if you get hit in the torso your whole suit goes rigid and you can't speak), but they also make sure you don't get hurt if you slam into something/someone (which can happen even if neither person is frozen).
So...thoughts? Muns/characters that would be interested?
P.S. Most of the needed equipment will come from the Bar, and can probably be sized to fit just about any pups. Regrettably, equipment to fit muns is outside of my budget these days.

Basically, if someone was going to break into the space station, they generally won't appear smack in the middle of it. It's sort of like one time I got stuck in an office at my family's business: Because I was in an interior office, the alarm didn't trip, but as soon as I left the office (about 15 minutes later), it went off. Battle Room's probably operating the same way: If they went down to the main part of the station, they'd trigger security alarms of some sort out the wazoo, but as long as they stay in one Battle Room and the two gates attached to it, they're safe.
Also, if it's only sensors in the gates to the Battle Room tripping and nothing's gone off in the corridor and it's three in the morning local time, I'm willing to bet that someone's just making a note to check the system for faults whenever they get around to it and simply assuming that something's broken. That's certainly more logical than "Two people materialized in this hallway, sir. Yes, I did say materialized. No, I don't know how. And no, sir, I am not on any medication." I wouldn't be surprised if recordings are turning up, but...like I said, the alarms themselves are probably further out.
Finally, it's canon that the students were tracked through devices (probably RIFD) in their uniforms. Bean was able to go climbing through all sorts of air shafts and so forth without detection thanks to this.
Trust me, that's a good question; I didn't include it in the main post because I sought to avoid writing a novel there (as you can see by the length of my explanation), but I did think that out ahead of even the OOM. Also, I'm not against plotting some security check at some point, either...
Oh, and nice to see you too, Carabba. Sorry I didn't recognize the user ID.
