From mmexlibris:

Who is your pup's nemesis? What opposes them? What prevents them from reaching their goal? Or simply, who bugs the ever-living crap out of them?

Mal...I'm not sure, anymore. D:

Sallie: Margaret, no last name in my head. Another little old lady, the queen bee of the social circle in Jefferson District. Sallie gets her revenge in her five-year winning streak at the baking contests held at the church. >)

This is now expanded to whoever Bar's enemies are. :O

Eduard: The emperor. Whoops.

SARAH: BRAD? Not sure.

Carlisle: I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT CARLISLE LOVES EVERYONE. >_>

Freddie Benson isn't anywhere near enough to Sam's level to be her nemesis, but he's really annoying, she says. Neville Papperman (this irritating kid who hates Sam's webshow and is constantly trying to undermine it and get it off the air) is maybe a nemesis, but he's more Carly's nemesis than Sam's.

Hawkeye's nemesis is Frank Burns. :D :D :D I think that Frank takes the whole idea of nemeses more seriously than Hawkeye does, though...

Plourr's enemies are dead. Except Ramon Salazar, who is like a bad penny. :D

The rest of mine really don't have a nemesis, or much in the way of specific enemies! Tony bugs the living crap out of Rhodey. Mulcahy isn't a big fan of the devil???

Elle – The first thing that came to my mind here was Claire Bennet, though I wouldn't characterize it as direct answer to any of those questions except the last, and that's only when they're ever around each other. But they are narrative opposites, so it... comes up as the right answer? I'd tell her that her father would be a better one, but she wouldn't listen to me.

But, anyway, her issues with Claire pretty much all come down to jealousy one way or another: the belief that her own father would have liked Claire better (not really even because of her ability, but because she's sane, which just makes it worse), that Noah Bennet watched what happened to Elle but didn't do anything at all to help her, instead helping Claire (which is something her own father wouldn't do), and the notion that Claire's what she should have been but was cheated out of, since Bennet decided to help Claire because of what happened to her – after all, if Elle is what Claire would be had she been taken by the Company, Claire is what Elle would be like had she been saved from it.

But that's her answer. I don't think she's going to come around to mine until it's too late.

Caprica – Uh. I can't think of a lot of direct nemeses, maybe surprisingly enough. I'll just go with my head canon that the Sixes and the Ones generally dislike each other a lot.

Sharon – Boomer? And her inability to not screw up a landing.

Carla – ... well, when it comes down to it, no one is brave enough to be Carla's nemesis. Though it does bug the crap out of her when doctors talk down to her.

Emerson – THE NORWEGIANS. Er. Or things that have to complicate his life.

Walter Elias Peck, formerly of the EPA, currently the world's angriest Siamese fighting fish.

As for the rest of my characters:

The BLU Medic has a 'I will kill that son of a bitch permanently if it's the last thing I do' attitude towards the RED Pyro. I've millicanoned it that the RED Pyro is actually his vengeful ex-wife, but he'll never know it unless BLU starts taking prisoners and gets the mask off, which isn't likely.

Adrian Shephard: That grayfaced sheepfuckin' son of a bitch in the suit. Gordon isn't sure if he agrees or not.

Ellen: Thinks maybe Mr. Tenpenny, whoever he is; ever since she shot Mr. Burke, the mercenaries of Talon Company have been after her, and the first ones she survived had a note saying 'show her what happens to people who thwart Mr. Tenpenny's plans- oh, and there's a thousand caps reward for whoever brings in her head'.

Knox probably thinks of every corrupt official, every lazy editor, every bleached blond TV newsman, and Ted Turner (founder of CNN) as his nemeses. I doubt any reciprocate.

Gibbs would probably say Davey Jones. Or maybe Beckett. But really Barbossa.

Cy has many enemies, but the ones he hates the most are Brother Blood and Slade. Brother Blood is probably plotting revenge even as we speak.

Charlie made enemies out of a lot of people during his years in Hub City, but few are still alive. And those who are, mainly the ones affiliated with the Church of Blood, are no longer his problem. Though he wishes Renee and Batwoman all the best in fighting them. (Remember, both Renee and Batwoman appear every month in Detective Comics, featuring JH William's amazing art on Batwoman and Greg Rucka's strong scripts, now on sale.)

And Kirk...I could say the Klingons. But...well... you can probably guess what's under the link.

Ace: Daleks. OMG Daleks. The girl, in any brand of canon you choose to follow, has a deep and abiding hatred for Daleks, and an extreme fondness of blowing them to itty bitty bits with Nitro 9.
She also wouldn't mind a crack at the Master, but even she knows that isn't likely to go well.
Oh. AND BLODWEN. *cough*

Glorfindel: ... Balrogs? Balrogs and minstrels. I mean, technically, the remnants of Sauron's army, but that's a bit of a given, and not that difficult an opponent.

Wedge: Paper-pushers that have made themselves at home in the new government. The rat-bastard Fel who stole away his sister. Imps. Always the Imps.

Laranth: Right now? That Paladin is bugging the heck out of her. Later in canon? Well, there's this jedi-killing bounty hunter, and, y'know, VADER. Oh, and that red-haired punk chick that swans in on her territory.

Romana: ... ? Not too much at the moment, but later? We have arrived back at Daleks. Hi Daleks!

Scaramouche: Gazza. He's a twit.

Urahara: The list really is too long. Long and boring and... fiiiine, Aizen and Gin. If those two would just go die in a fire, he'd be infinitely happy.

Bones: The damn-fool idiots who won't let themselves get medical attention when they need it.

Ciel probably doesn't have a specific nemesis - folks who get in his way tend to die mysterious deaths the first time around. The people who murdered his parents might get the position honorarily, though they've either a) not poked their head out since or (less likely) b) already been killed by him.

His household staff, who reach unbelievable levels of bumbling, definitely count as a major annoyance and a distraction, even if they serve their purpose. Ciel's fiance Elizabeth falls into that category, too, even if he loves her like a sister.

Sebastian is probably the biggest reason that Ciel doesn't have any major, directed life-goals, because he already knows how things are going to end up, i.e. dragged to Hell.

[identity profile] alas-a-llama.livejournal.com 2009-09-30 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
For Atton, from a narrative standpoint, probably Darth Sion. They are parallels of each other, in the same way that the Exile is a parallel of Darth Nihilus, and Visas and Kreia are parallels of each other. Sion and Atton are both tortured individuals who are bound to servitude of one form or another (They're both manipulated by Kreia, and they both end up allied with people who overshadow them so vastly that they sort of have to go along with it all), and they both are quite keen on the Exile.

The big difference is that Sion embraces the whole pain thingymajig, and tries to drag everyone down with him. Atton detests the whole pain thingy, and tries to pull himself up to other people's standards. I don't think they ever meet in canon, but they do in the cut content: It doesn't go well.

For people that Atton actually meets, he has something of a rival in Mical. It's something of a one-sided rivalry, though: Mical has no problem with Atton, save for some occasional distaste, but Atton is intensely irritated by him. I mean, Atton's first words to him can pretty much be summed up as "We don't need anybody else on this ship! Go away! *sulk*"

For other pups: Sparrow has Lord Lucien Fairfax, which is sort of but not quite a one-sided enemy thing. Sparrow is destined to ruin Lucien's plans (and ruin his life in the process), but is, more importantly, a little miffed that Lucien shot his sister, and then shot him, when he was but a tiny child. Lucien, for his part, doesn't even know that Sparrow's alive, but even when he does, probably doesn't think of Sparrow as his nemesis, just as someone who could potentially be a big problem.

For Takumi, Kusaka Masato/Kamen Rider Kaixa. Kusaka is pretty much a sociopath, and spends a considerable amount of his time trolling Takumi: Trying to either beat up Takumi, or convincing everybody that Takumi hates him and is trying to kill him.

Chuck: Death would be the most obvious answer to this question. For sure. Um. Yeah.

Izzie: Other than cancer? Jeez, these answers could be depressing.

Beckett: Castle bugs the crap out of her, but he's less of a nemesis and more of an annoyance that she's repressing feelings for.

Cuddy: House. Hands down.

Lacey: The Man. Or, you know, people who hunt animals and aren't going green.

Pam: For a while, I'd say it might've been Karen, but look what happened, so there you go. And they ended on slightly less-than-tense terms.

Saffron: Anyone who gets in her way tends to be a pain in the ass more than anything else.

Sally: Well, she's never exactly cared for Dr. Manhattan.

Ellen: Anyone who raises a hand in threat against the Roadhouse or tries to touch her daughter.

Sophie-Anne: She's not a fan of snobs, as her username would imply. And she absolutely detests people who accuse her of cheating at Yahtzee.

The Doctor: The Master. I mean, yeah, Davros and the Daleks, or the Cybermen, or any number of other recurring villains, but the Master is the only one to achieve real arch-nemesis standing

Xanatos: Goliath. All the gargoyles, really, but he doesn't feel any of them are his equal except for Goliath.

Gaius Baltar: Laura Roslin. He knows Adama just thinks he's pathetic, but Roslin has a deep, genuine antipathy toward him, and the feeling is mutual.

Echo: Alpha. 'Cause you know he's not gonna stop.

Jean-Claude: Belle Morte. Really the whole Council, but Belle has that extra added sense of betrayal that pushes her to the top of the heap.

Agnes: Once upon a time, she would have said Perdita, but the two have come to an understanding by this point. Right now, the only people she fears returning are the Magpyrs or the Fae.

Moiraine: The Shadow, ever and always. Extendable to true evil in all shapes and forms.

Sam Winchester: At this point in canon, the Yellow-Eyed Demon (Azazel). He also really doesn't like demon 'Meg,' but it's the YED who's got the special focus. Unfortunately for Sam, he's got a few more major enemies lining up, although he doesn't know it yet.

Jack Sparrow: Barbossa. Cutler Beckett. (Yes, Beckett's dead - so was Barbossa, and so was Jack himself once....)

Kim Ford: No one really at present, although I wouldn't call her and Galadan friends. Same goes for Sylar.

Gabriel Tam: Also on the no one really at present, save for political opponents. Atwood's probably the biggest one there.

Frank Black: Lucy Butler. Sylar. A few more are waiting in the wings, but those are the big two right now.

Laura Roslin: If you're a Cylon, you're on this list. If you're Gaius Baltar, you are too.

Nathan Stark: Stupidity in general. And yes, Jack Carter really annoys him.

the demon 'Meg': the Winchesters, especially Dean Winchester.

Blodwen Rowlands: .... where do I START? Okay, let's see if I can narrow this down. Major Nemesis-Types: Merriman Lyon, Will Stanton, Bran Davies, Gwion, Caspian Seafarer, Raven, Mercer, Prometheus. In-Between: Peach, Coyote, Puck, Ace, Duo Maxwell, Yrael, and Sabriel goes here too for now, at least. Of Interest/Special Focus: Mary Lennox, Sameth, Charlie McGee, Tom Riddle, Ingress, River Song... I haven't had coffee, I know I'm forgetting someone. Special Bonus Category (i.e. of interest to her for reasons that have nothing to do with enemy status): Agent Zed, the Doctor, Nick Carraway, Kick Carraway, and Henry Wellard. For now.

Medusa is easy enough: Athena. The reasoning why is a little more complex, but I see them as mirrors. They are hugely, hugely similar in a lot of respects (due to the whole 'used to being different faces of the same deity' thing that you find if you look at the history of their mythologies) and yet due to being mirrors, the differences make them clash. It's not QUITE as simple as "Athena didn't help her/cursed her/helped murder her" and Athena being very pro-patriarchy and Medusa being very not...but that certainly helps.

(Although Medusa would say that Nemesis is her nemesis, as that is Nemesis's job, and she could quite like the goddess to stay away from her kthanx)

Marlowe: Shakespeare (and could be seen as vise verse). And no, Marlowe is so not over him yet.

Camille would like to say that she is Medrano's nemesis rather than the other way around. He just doesn't know it yet. <.<

Merlin is Dara's, I think. In a weird, ultimately ironic way.

[personal profile] kd7sov 2009-09-30 02:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Felix, as secondary antagonist in one game and protagonist of its sequel, is in a rather odd position for this question. In the first game Isaac fits two and three, and during that time Isaac probably thinks of Felix as his nemesis. Then, for a while, there is no nemesisness, although Felix is decidedly unfond of Karst. Then, post-canon, he's got it in for
Alex
.

Frederic is, frankly, not effective enough to have a nemesis.

Going back to a long-ago former pup for a moment, Picard has no greater opponent than the Borg.

And for potential pups... Kain has a slightly odd situation, given the allegiance changes over the course of the game. Golbez, Cecil, Zemus... any or all of the above... And, if you believe (what I've heard of) the sequel, his own dark side.

Doroga doesn't really have any nemeses. There are people he dislikes - Atsurak, for instance - but he's not built for carrying a grudge.

Mia's enemies at home are, by definition, anyone who opposes or threatens the Magic Guild or Lunar. It sure made family life weird for a while. As far as personal Milliways enemies go, well, Draco Malfoy was almost her first and you can kind of see how that went. She's not fond of Scarlet at all, but I wouldn't call her an enemy since that would imply that Mia wishes her destroyed and she simply just doesn't want anything to do with her.

No one wants to be Mia's enemy, really. I mean, look at this icon. She's my own pup and she scares me with that.

Angel, I don't think really has one. He facepalms a lot at the people who think Mark's canon!film was fiction, but there's only so much one can do about that.

Carl: COSMO. Why yes this makes life in my head very interesting! XD

Larry, at present, is largely up against himself. His ex-wife used to bug him about the lack of steady employment thing, and that really got on his nerves, but... I need to post the point-A-to-point-B OOM at some point. Poor kid's got to deal with his own success.

Marty Brice may be Cosmo's best friend, but he also bugs the HELL out of Cos. Guy can't seem to do anything wrong! (Or, at least, he never seems to get caught for it.)

Cata is going to leave Mizzamir on this list, even if Sam did kill him permanently. She's in absolutely no hurry to forgive him for the whole whitewashing thing. Otherwise, I think she'd take a particular glee in taking a contract against one of Mizzamir's adherents, for similar reasons.

Moist counts Captain Hammer as a nemesis, even though he mostly harasses Doc. Some kind of loyalty thing, I guess? Up to Cubefall, his own dubiously-call-it-a-superpower probably counted, considering how much it screwed up his life.

Oh, and there's Conflict Diamond. I'm not sure who all she counts, other than the jewelry industry. XD

Renee Montoya: Two-Face. And man, I wish we had one in Bar to play around with that. GO ON, YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO.

Annabeth: Rachel Elizabeth Dare. She is not only her nemesis, but she's awfully annoying as far as Annabeth is concerned. (There may be a bit of jealousy there, but you'll never get that out of her.)

For a while, Enzo would have declared Vlad Masters as his nemesis on Dani's account, even though he's never met the guy, but he's now in the same category as Megabyte (replace "Web" with "asteroid belt"). There are kids at school and in town whom Enzo doesn't like, but he knows from nemeses and they are not it. He may have to wait until he's a full Guardian to acquire a proper nemesis of his very own.

Revenant: The RPG book mentioned a Sooper-Sekrit Evil Organization called OMEGA, but they haven't appeared in the comic yet. I'll check the book this evening for more info.

Jasper: I think the best answer for him is himself. He holds himself back from goals, he has the tendency to forget about himself because he's focused on Alice, and he fights so hard against human blood because he still wants it. So, himself.

Revan: Um. Well, I can say his family prevents him from reaching his goals. He's too tied up in obligations and love to leave them to truly do what he needs to do. As for his enemies? That's sort of iffy. He has far less than people tend to think he does, but enough to cause problems.

Scorpius: I think he has a few bullies at school, but no true enemies. He tends to stay out of conflict when and where he can. Other than that, only a certain unborn kid is the source of most of his problems at the moment. He'll work through that eventually though, he just needs time.

Raph: Really the only person getting in the way of Raph being happy....is Raph. He's his own nemesis. There was a time when it was Dream or possibly Destiny, but these days it's really just him.

Mike: Destiny. No question about it.

The Loompas: In general it's the dreaded Wonka. Specific to the Rogues, it's the Loompa in charge of the Oompas Republic of New Loompa Land.

(The Littlest Loompatm might put Scott Evil on his list of nemesiseseseses. But...that's one obstacle he's in the process of removing, so the point is really kind of moot.)

Ida: Pretty much anything that keeps her from her stories, online mahjong, but more specifically it's the tokin' lovechild that is Wendy Watson.
