Desire's already doing a number on Peter. The boy's fallen hopelessly in love with a woman from another time, he's aching for redemption and has no idea how to achieve it, he desperately wants forgiveness for his sins (even though he can't forgive himself), he misses James and Lily so badly that it's an actual physical pain, he wants to protect those in the bar that he cares about from, he feels compelled to try saving Tom Riddle even if it IS a paradox...

Peter is just one big lump of WANTING.

I get the feeling that Peter Pettigrew is Desire's hobby.
