The crack has officially taken over my brain now.

My theory of Milliways is this:

Somewhere, in the infinate multiverse, all of this is real. The characters are doing and saying pretty much exactly what we write out. Without the typos and OOC comments, of course. But don't get me wrong -- we don't tell the characters what to do. Quite the reverse, really. The actions and dialogue of the individuals we are attuned to are dropped directly into our brains. We do not choose the characters; we have no choice but to play them when thier actions are told to our brains. This is how we manage to keep playing even when half-asleep. This is why the actions of our characters suprise even the mun playing them. And this is why I've come up with a plot idea that seems utterly insane to me, and yet I know it to be utterly true.

I just want you to know how utterly horrified I am to even entertain the idea that a ninja turtle and a swarm of Oompa Loompas would be dropping ideas into my brain.

If you'll excuse me...I have to go rock myself to sleep now.

My theory is that, somewhere, somehow, every single book/film/movie/show/play/comic/etc. is real. And that, somewhere, somehow, amongst all those self-contained universes, Milliways - our Milliways - exists.

[identity profile] miraielle.livejournal.com 2004-10-06 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
...okay, that's possibly a little farfetched, even for me.

Wensley agrees with you, though.

Somehow? Wouldn't surprise me much.

Although I would be really, really afraid to find out I'm channeling an Endless. *flees*

Man, I don't need to be told that Beavis and Butt-Head are real.

I went to high school with about fifty of them.

We ALL went to high school with about fifty of them.

*raises an eyebrow*

So, I am channeling Sario, Delia and Mordred...

No wonder I feel bloody insane.

[identity profile] toddbaby.livejournal.com 2004-10-06 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Herr Jung and his dudes basically agree with you.

[identity profile] timsbooks.livejournal.com 2004-10-06 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
See... i belive it... And sometimes, people try to force a char they shouldn;t, hence why sometimes it feels wrong...But this explains why some of these things feel so right...and why the plots that hit our heads do.... Some people are jsut capable of channeling more, or such.....

Actually, if you buy the infinite multiverse concept, there need not be any connection between our brain and the Milliways universe. If there are infinite universes out there, then statistically anything that can possibly happen will happen... including our Milliways. In fact, there are an infinite number of Milliways out there, some bland and mundane, some similar to ours -- all possible Milliways plot threads exist in some way, and tucked in there somewhere is our unique one. Of course, there are also an infinite number of universes with us RPing every possible thread in Milliways such that there exist, for every Milliways, a matching universe of RPing folks. It'd break down to statistics rather than some sort of mental/spiritual connections.

I rather like your theory better, even if I am a little worried to know that I might be an amalgam of Murdock and Corwin. I'm just throwing out an alternate theory.

[identity profile] what-a-guy.livejournal.com 2004-10-06 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
so I'm chanelling Ace Rimmer and the Chesire Cat? That is too awesome for words. I like the Theory.

So, you're Cheshire-mun! Was wondering. :) I'm still a bit tickled pink over the fact that Bigby semi-prophecized the Cheshire cat's appearance. :)

Wait, wait...You're saying ten, going on eleven, people are connected to my head? And I'm not in an asylum WHY?

Actually.... in the Ender universe, there is a theory. Everyone and everything is connected with an actual physical connection called a philotic connection. I am connected to people through these connections, and they are connected to me. Even though I only speak with someone online, we still have a connection. Now, there is this physical world, the world of atoms and molecues, but there is also Outside. This is a world entirely of philotic connections. Some of the philotes are so connected, tehy make consciousnesses, called auias. This, my friends is where Milliways comes in. We make connectiosn to the auias of our characters. They can talk to us, they can tell us what they would do. This is why I'm bouncing on my sofa when I have Cute for Val. This is why I am so intimately aquainted with my characters. It's the philotic connections. Now, I probably sound like a nutcase here, but it's something I've thought a lot about as well.

Ah, so that is why I've taken a liking to creating havoc and smirking a lot some of the times, and saying "Oh dear" and being vaguely confused the rest of the time?

And perhaps why I dreamed last night of the plot point Kibeth and Yrael have been planning.

Darn, I'm doomed.

The mun is nodding thoughtfully, because she's willing to entertain quite a few varieties of strangeness so long as it's moderately plausible, and this qualifies. Of course, extend this to other RP communities, and it means that I'm having instructions shoveled into my brain by Sergeant Preston of the Yukon and by John Constantine, which is a combination of matter/antimatter if I ever saw it.

The muse, on the other hand, says: "Dis what Okenite sound like after three-day slab bender, right before his brain run out his ear. An' here is me, thinkin' humans don't get der effects of slab at all. Huh."

Here, have a pillow to put between your head and the desk.

I totally agree to something like that because today, when Divia walked in, I was genuinely frightened. As I typed, I couldn't figure out what to do, I was so scared. Enter why Nick spaztically jumped behind the bar...because I think, for a moment, he was channeling me in reverse because we were both so afraid.

I'm glad to be parceling out some part of my brain to an anime ex-mobster bounty hunter with green hair and a bad attitude. It's strangely satisfying, and I love your theory very much.

After some thought, I can honestly say I'm not sure I like the idea that a salty cartoon sailor, a giant robot dragon tyrant warlord guy, and two morons are beaming their ideas and thoughts and actions into my brain.

I think I'll just say I'm kind of a decent writer I guess.

Less nightmares that way.

Rather smart of Gollum to find the brain of a person who's been actively studying his character for upwards of a year and a half now to channel through.

. . . what? It's George-mun's fault. I swear. She's been a terrible influence on me.

Speaking of the twins, I suppose it's only natural they'd get people like George-mun and I to play them, considering how we worship the ground they turn-into-swamps-and-then-walk-on, egotistical little bastards that they are. And George-mun and I are pretty Weasley-twinnish in our own right, despite that whole being unrelated and female thing.

Gir is welcome to send whatever he uses in place of thoughts my way any time that isn't when I'm taking exams or eating or writing or trying to think coherently.

If we have plots we're waiting to spring on the bar, does that mean we're seeing the future or that our plots have already happened?

So I have speaking through me, at various times, a 5th-century Celtic courtier-servant, the comic version of Angelo Espinosa, a bastardised adapted version of Angelo for another game, the Marquis de Carabas (not in Milliways), Caleb from Buffy, three different versions of Nightcrawler, and a Parisian street urchin?

*boggles*
