Well folks, we've had a good ol' fashioned lay about, here on the Milliways Bartending Side of things. Nice November break. It was restful, don't you think? Don't you feel rested?

Yeah, me neither.
But that doesn't change the fact that Something Must Be Done! And that Something involves Happy Hours and New Hires.
Yeah, you read that right: Happy Hours. do you see what I did there?

But first things first. There is not a single solitary Happy Hour scheduled for the month of December.
That right there is just Not On. I know that things have been slow around here. What with the holidays coming, and semesters ending, and...the inevitable ebb and flow of game herself. I've been here long enough to know the drill. No one wants to EP because EPing is a commitment. No new EPs and there's no new threads. Then we get into this downward spiral of ruttage.

You know what I say to that?
Let's kick this rut right in the keister.

I challenge each and everyone of you reading this now to tag into Happy Hours.
Thread hop like you've never threadhopped before.
(If you've actually never threadhopped before, lemme know and I'll give you a break down of how that works.)

For those brave few of you who are up for braving the harsh uncertainty of hosting a Happy Hour thread, I say unto you:
Give me your Character name, your timezone, and your start time.
Lend me three hours.
NAY!
Lend the game...the COMMUNITY, three hours.

And the glory of game shall be yours!

I would love to have a breakdown of thread-hopping. I've never actually gotten the official definition, with pertinent examples.

Okay, so examples might be a bit of a problem. But let's see what I can get across with words first.

Thread Hopping is when someone tags into a thread with the intention of making a branch in the action.

Take Happy Hours for instance. When people tag into a Happy Hour they're looking to interact with the Bartender du Jour. Thread Hopping in a Happy Hour would include tagging someone other than the bartender for the purpose of just talking to that character.

Like...seeing them sitting at Bar and just turning to them for a chat.

One of the things I've tried to encourage is the idea that while Entrance Posts can be controlled by the poster to a certain degree, Happy Hours are free for alls. If you tag into a Happy Hour, you're opening yourself up to any and everything.
No plot locks.
No hiding in a corner.
No sulking in the rafters.

Tagging into a Happy Hour is putting yourself out there for...what ever happens by. They're supposed to be fun, and encourage the sort of cross-canon interactions that make Milliways the awesome it is.

That said...give me a few and I'll see about finding an example.
Barring that....maybe I'll just MAKE examples, should someone claim a Happy Hour shift today.
(I'd claim one myself, but I've got an Innerbrat in town...)

At the moment this comment list is the only widely available list...er...available. There is a way to code the Google Calendar to show up on the User Info page of the Staff Comm, but I don't know that I'm going to have a chance to go and muck with that today.
