Wild Hunt! (this time for reals)
Here we go. Previous backroom discussions here and here. I've got a few addenda to keep things nice and orderly.
1. Hunters, you're not hunting the living bystanders. You can mess with them, you can chase them around a little if you like, but they're not your target. You'll be actively following the dead souls, so they'll probably feel like they're being chased, but they're not the target either--think of them as your hounds.
2. The actual target of the hunt, to the hunters, can take the form of whatever that individual hunter sees as desirable but elusive. Some foe they can never quite beat, something lost long ago that they dream of regaining, whatever is most appropriate--enough to make them really want to hunt down whatever it is, make them give in to their darker nature as need be in the process. Give them a good motivation.
To everyone else, the target of the hunt takes the form of a woman--ghostly, insubstantial, can seem either good or evil depending on what works best for your pup. From a distance, she looks like a ball of light, and pups may or may not get close enough to make anything else out.
3. Dead pups, feel free to appear in exactly the state of your death if you like. Incorporeal is good; you may well be terrified, but don't worry, nothing can hurt you. You probably have a feeling that you should run away from whatever's chasing you. You may catch sight of that glowing woman off in the distance up ahead and try to see if she can help you; or you may try to go off to the side and hide from the hunters, but they can probably find you. Sometimes it sucks to be dead.
4. I've set the post up with three headings, one for each of the character groupings. I'd like every pup to tag in to their appropriate heading, hunter or dead soul or bystander, and from there you can threadhop. But to keep things less messy and more realistic, you can only tag out within your same heading and to those lower on the page, which is to say:
Hunters can tag anybody.
Dead pups can tag each other and bystanders.
Bystanders can only tag each other (if they can find each other).
If that makes sense. Bystanders get to hang around and wait for action, but that's what bystanders do.
5. They're not really meant to be very long and convoluted interactions, since two of the groups involved have the urge to run and the third, at best, probably has a bad feeling about what's going on out here. Threadhop as much as you want! The post is going to be open for at least a week, so everybody who wants to will have the chance to get some action in (and because slowtime is love). Once all the threads are done, there'll be a last-call and then it's getting posted, but for now there's no rush.
Have fun with it, and feel free to poke me (via message, or comment here) if you have any questions. ^_^

1) Is it necessary for the hunters to actually have a specific target?
And:
2) Are you intending to NPC the target or whatever in the upper threads to actually get things moving, or - ? Presumably the hunters need to be kind of in the swing of things before they start jumping dead pups and bystanders, and if the latter two can't get involved in hunting-threads...
And thirdly:
3) Since there's a reasonably disparate group of muns intending to take part, and little in the way of structured thread-plans, it would really help to coordinate things and plot out encounters if there were some kind of chat or OOC post or something.

2. If folks need the target NPCed, I can do that, but it's more about the hunting than it is actually catching the target. And since people are free to make it whatever would be most appropriate for their pups, they'd do better at playing it the most fitting way for their pups, if that makes sense.
3. That it would. I don't know about everybody's schedules as far as doing a chat, but people are certainly free to use this post here to get together OOCly.
4. Not really. The hunters and the dead pups will probably be chasing until it gets close to dawn, at which point they're free to come back to themselves any way they like. Bystanders can duck out of it at any point by hiding or going inside, and everybody else is free to fade out whenever they get bored with it. I like keeping things loose and flexible :D

Maybe, if other people are having trouble getting the narrative ball rolling, it might be easier to make some kind of shared NPC account - wild_hunted, or whatever - that muns could log into if they want to, upload an icon of the target as it appears to them (or just generic atmospheric hunt-y icons), and use it as a kind of springboard? Like, to provide a kind of feedback/back-and-forth to ramp up the atmosphere and get their characters thoroughly swept up in the hunt before descending upon the spirits.
(And that way, people could do their own NPC work, or get friends to volunteer, which would save you the trouble.)

Wolves are hunters. But sometimes, villagers band together and hunt the wolves.
That works even metaphorically.-

I have no idea why that double posted. Sorry.
