Summary: Bran Davies Comes to Milliways
The drama begins with Mordred Pendragon meeting Jane Drew and chatting with her about her piano lessons. Will Stanton joins them. Everyone stares at the new arrival, one Bran Davies, who has found a way into the bar from an isolated hill in northern Wales where he was angstily shepherding. Bran's fairly startled at seeing his old friends. Mordred's even more startled, because he thinks he knows who the boy is. Mordred answers Bran's standard where-am-I introduction using Welsh slang for "little boy". Will and Jane supply Bran with more nonsensical information. Is Milliways a place, a philosophy, or an alcoholic beverage? Yes. Bran is glad his father isn't here to see the den of iniquity. No, Mordred, Will says, Bran means his other father. There is banter. Jane tells Bran she's Bound. Bran freaks; what if he has to leave the sheep untended for months? Will gives a not-at-all comforting answer.
Meanwhile, Mordred and Bran are discussing the end of the universe in Welsh. They have identical tawny-gold eyes behind their sunglasses. Mordred's nervous about introducing himself. Bran is skeptical. Mordred's confused; What did you say your father's name was? Bran has no idea why Mordred cares. The muns change the subject before their characters break. Mordred announces that he was hit by a train. What, Bran says, there were trains in sixth-century Britain? Mordred announces he's a ghost. Bran's afraid he's dead too. Mordred has a near-Freudian slip. Bran, coming from 1976, has never heard of the Chunnel.
Things seem to be going relatively well at this point, and we all know what that means: it's time for the forces of evil to show up. The Rider makes a snide comment about familial reunions. Will gets as protective as he can get while not letting Bran know there's anything weird going on. Jane is suspicious. Will and the Rider use their mad doublespeak skills while pleasantly discussing how and why people help their friends.
Bran doesn't trust the Rider at first, but the conversation warms when "Mr. Aphelise" announces that he's distantly related to Bran's late, lamented adopted aunt. Will is not reassured, as the adopted aunt in question was secretly evil. Will and Mordred exchange significant looks. The Rider and Will doublespeak directly over Bran's head about what happens when loved ones are taken away. Bran, noticing but not quite understanding the tension, decides to leave the bar and check on his sheep.
In another thread, Mordred and the Rider discover that they both enjoy creating chaos. Will makes a stand for order. Mordred says goodbye in a quote from Silver on the Tree and earns the undying love of all the tDiR-canon muns.
In yet another moment of Milliways time, the Rider offers unspecified aid to Jane. Will, Jane and Bran agree that she doesn't need help from Mr. Aphelise. The Rider, in a triumph of oily wickedness, volunteers to erase Jane's memory again. Jane says Ewwwww. The conversation gets even icier. Feel the frostbite.
The Rider, acquiring a Parseltongue accent, reminds Jane of her nightmares. Jane bumpsinto a chair. The Rider displays empathy for her suffering Will shields Jane's mind. Heaven preserve us from the righteous mortals, the Rider says; this statement is especially apt as Cordelia Vorkosigan is approaching in full Betan fury.
Cordelia shoots Jane a we're mortals and they're not look.
Will, Jane and the Rider discuss justice as it relates to the Rider's defeat in the final battle. Will points out that the Rider's at Milliways because he has nothing better to do. Evil still exists, says the Rider; at least, it still exists in Milliways.. Will and the Rider have a philosophical discussion about Light, Darkness and interference that the members of the Reformed Evil Overlords Club might want to check out. That conversation finishes here, when the Rider heads to sleep. (Do the forces of evil sleep, I wonder?)
Cordelia asks if Jane's all right. Jane's fine. Cordelia asks whether Jane's talked to Will about the memory wipe. Jane has, and is not angry. Cordelia is definitely angry.
She wants to know if all of Jane's memories were restored. Yes. Jane heads to sleep, and Cordelia and Will talk about the ethics, or lack of them, involved in memory removal. It was done for Jane's own sake, Will says. Cordelia, of course, is deeply skeptical, and furious. Will doesn't expect Cordelia to take an immortal's view of the matter. Old Ones are different from ordinary people. The conversation ends inconclusively.
Bran-mun would like to express her love to Will-mun, Rider-mun, Jane-mun, Cordelia-mun and, most especially, Mordred-mun. (You'd better come back, Mordred. We have unfinished business.) See you Monday night!

*raises eyebrow* You know what they say, Evil never sleeps, and Good is ever-vigilant. Except when they're at the bar at the end of the universe, I guess.
Thanks for the lovely summary of the even-lovelier RP. Had much fun.

*still giggling over some of the doublespeak fun*
Oh, and Cordelia and Will's conversation isn't quite over; it was just put on hold so the muns could avoid falling asleep on their keyboards. Though I somehow doubt it's going to get much more conclusive than it is now.

Not to butt in... but there's always AIM Express and the older Quick Buddy. They're web-based Java interfaces, so you don't need to install anything. All you need is an AIM log-in, which you can get without having to download and install the actual AIM program.
Just, y'know, suggesting, if you were interested in being squeed at via AIM. :)

I will so be watching this unfold, whether Moiraine is around or not. :)

If Moiraine is around, Will will want to quietly stress at her at some point. :) (And Will's mun will probably wibble at you on IM.) But no pressure -- if you can't make it in to RP tonight, that's fine.

IC, maybe-- have to work out some details first.
I'll definitely be around on IM, though. Wibble away as needed! *pets and comforts, preemptively*
