So I don't think anyone claimed today's DE and there's nothing up yet for our East Coast and EU muns so I'm jumping in.

Inspired by a weekend DE, tag in with a pup whose PB icon you are not satisfied with. List characteristics and impressions of the character you value and see if anyone has any suggestions for you.

Or, what is the strangest/crackiest idea you've had for a pup? Doesn't matter if you app'ed or actually played them, it's time to come clean!

For the second question, I'm actually a little embarrassed about this one. But the crackiest/strangest/WORST idea I've ever had was actually the reason I created this journal right here. The character is from a an old not-quite-rock opera, about this cowboy (who I suspect used to be a talker at a carnival) who meets a pair of Siamese twins and exploits them as faith healers. It all gets really interesting when he starts to seriously lust after the female twin, and plots a rather violent way of separating her from her brother.

The kicker at the end was that there was no female twin, and the cowboy's violent plan winds up turning against him.


I created the account because I wanted to try him out somewhere. I never even got past the main post before deciding, that, no. I cannot play that character. But I really liked the name, and was fixing to switch my main LJ over to something else, anyway.

Okay some of the crackiest/strangest ideas:
Mark and Danny from the Shriekback song Gunning for the Buddha. I couldn't decide exactly why philosophical assassins actually existed and so dropped it. Before I did however, I pictured them as being like the characters Samuel Jackson and John Travolta played in Pulp Fiction or one dressed as a mafioso hitman and the other as a gunslinger. They also traveled the Multiverse in quest for whatever.

And onto the PBs:
Ben Grimm in human form. (Canon is hinting I'm going to need it.)
Tall, about 6', and strongly built. Think American Football Linebacker.
Short auburn hair, blue eyes.
Tough and with a broken nose if possible.

Thalia, daughter of Zeus.
Medium height, black hair (ideally short and spikey), blue eyes and freckled.
Pale and punk (not Goth).
She needs to look young, as in 12-15.
She also needs to be fierce and have a definite sense of gravitas.
Currently I am using a model named Annalee (http://www.livejournal.com/allpics.bml?user=aigiochos) but she seems too old for me. And I don't think she's fierce enough.

Nothing to do with today's DE topics at all, but I had to share this.

Currently on my street there's some construction going on to tear down the buildings on one side up to the library and the building next to it which has among other things the Laurier University store in it.

There was much argument about it coming from those who wanted to preserve those eyesores and keep them standing despite the fact that these buildings were keeping people away and turning the downtown area into a business death zone, where you were lucky if your business stayed open for at least a year.

But that's just context.

Yesterday, while heading over to the library to borrow some DVDs I saw a Hulk plush doll likely left by one of the workers.

It amused me loads. So now I'm sharing.

For the first part, there's Kitai (wantedahorse). She's petite but strong, with pale skin and green eyes. The hardest part about her, though, is her hair -- it's pure white and shaved on both sides, leaving the middle long like a horse's mane. Yeah, good luck with that.

On the subject of crack ideas:

Back when we had the Roaming Gnome, I wanted to app the Priceline Negotiator just so they could get in a fight.

I've also thought about having Echo come in with the imprint of an actress named Eliza Dushku, only the trip to Milliways monkeys with the imprint and she ends up thinking she's actually her character, Faith. But that might be too confusing for me to deal with. LOL

I have never been completely happy with Rapunzel's PB. I started with Josie Bissett, and now have Christina Applegate, but she is getting a bit old. I need a pb that is:

In her early twenties.
Has golden blond hair.
Has varying lengths of hair, from very short to long.
Blue eyes (not a strict requirement).

Well, this is an opportune topic!

I am happy with Enzo's human PB, but he's outgrown the current pics and, so far as I can tell (and many thanks to tlvop for finding this), the only recent source of older Leo Legrand is a German movie called Vetraute Fremde. TL got me some nice screencaps from the trailer, but I really need more material and TL wants to see the movie anyway, so... does anyone know if it's on DVD yet, and if so, where one might get it? Or other means, torrents or anything?

Someday I'll probably switch over to using Thomas Dekker, but I am not comfortable depicting an almost-13-year-old, however much older he looks, using an actor in his 20s.

...Following up Roger, actually: if anyone knows Codex Alera, and has any idea how Marat-Aleran crossbreeding would work and what traits might come out and what might not, and has any idea what the hell the kid might look like... um. Yeah. Then I can use a consult and probably a couple decent PB ideas.

Beyond that? I have two pups I'm actually playing lately, and one I am holding on to in hopes he talks to me again. Two of these (Amy and Giles, I SWEAR I am not letting go of hope yet!) are visual media, and the decision is made for me. Yum, Karen Gillan. The other two I sorta used to do that I never worried about: one was from a video game, so I never bothered, and one is from a webcomic. I could probably try finding PBs for them, although the temptation to use Boxleitner-in-Tron for Dave would probably only be broken by the fact that I can't think of Boxleitner without thinking SHERIDAN and then hiding in a corner. I never did settle on a PB for Carrot and was always unhappy about that, but then Carrot got overshadowed by Tavi, so... yeah.

And for Tavi I lucked out and found freaking great PBs, at all ages. ...Although adult!Tavi is also just hot. I didn't mean to! I just was on hollow-art, looking for green eyes or Roman looking, and there was like one option that had both! And and and... yes. yummy. So mostly PBs are a non-issue for me, thank god.

--however, if anyone has any ideas for who could be a PB for Kel of Mindelan, I swear this has no relevance to anything in the near future. But eventually I need it because Kel is a cute little badass.

I'm actually pretty happy with all of my PBs. My crackiest pup is the Pirate King who I apped after talking about Gilbert and Sullivan in chat. He was my second pup, I find this crazy and amazing.

All my guests have left and I have things I need to today but I don't want to. I need to yell at Comcast and hotmail keeps changing how they display mail and its annoying. I didn't mind how they last had it, but they're doing something odd today that I really don't like. Also I need to talk to the woman I work for at the library. Oh and I need new batteries for one of my remotes.

Can it be vacation time yet?

And now for something that is on-topic for DE.

Crackiest idea I had for a pup [and I play him] is Unicron.

Way back in late '04, just after discovering the world's favourite crack bar I decided that I wanted to app Soundwave and Unicron [only Unicron was apped, but much later].

Back then, before I ever came across the Transformers Wiki I was under the impression that at the end of the original movie [the animated one] Unicron was Quite Dead, and that Soundwave was retired once the Great War was over.

So my idea at the time was that Soundwave had taken up DJing, and that Unicron was...

...wait for it...

...Soundwave's disco ball.

Seriously.

Thank goodness that idea was scrapped long ago. The universe would never forgive me for that one. [Neither would Unicron D:!]

I'm pretty satisfied with all of my PBs. Two-thirds of them are visual media, and my choices for the others (I'm including Conflict Diamond in this, since she doesn't actually appear in Dr. Horrible) work well.

As for cracky character ideas... we used to have the Milliways kitchen sink, though that wasn't me, and I believe Jo brought in the Land Shark from SNL for one post. (And there was that Monty Python guy who steals everyone's lupins. Lupines? The flowers.)

My crackiest character ever was family_gaggle, who I never got around to EPing and eventually deleted. He was mostly going to keep coming in from running seven times around the seven hills of Rome, and bump into people and go 'pardon me, young woman.'

I am pretty satisfied with Yasmin Abdul Aziz as a PB for Amascut, but, I rely on caps from her fans and photoshoots for magazine. I suppose I could just buy or download her movies somehow, but I do not understand a single word of Arabic except for the occasional word that has inserted itself into the Spanish language.

I suppose I shouldn't ask since my icon space is all used up anyway, but I am curious about what more seasoned RPers can come up with.

The crackiest idea I think I ever came up with was possibly apping Quetzlcoatl, the plumed serpent of Mayan lore, as a Vegas-level Drag Queen.
"Oh honey, I'll show you devour the earth in Flames!"

Which I think is leaps and bounds crackier than the Loompas, who come in at a very close second.

But now on to the PB portion of this DE.

I've got to say that I'm very happy with my choices for all my pups. Ida came with hers, and I can see no better Loompa icon than McFarlane's Korn Kids.

It's Mike and Raph that I'm curious about.
When it came time to choose human faces for them, I went with my first gut instinct.

Breckin Meyer for Mike. I remembered the smile from "Clueless" and "Road Trip" and that was that. Briefly, when it was pointed out to me that there's no real reason for either of the boys to be white, I considered Ernie Reyes Jr. but opted for Meyer because finding pictures of him was easier. Though, the meta for Reyes Jr was so deliciously hard to pass up.

Raph was originally Zach Braff because of the stony-faced cluelessness that Braff portrayed in the trailer for "Garden State". Yeah, I had no idea the actor had such a career of being a rubberfaced dork on "Scrubs" when I chose him. Lemme just say that watching the first couple of seasons on dvd proved to be painful.

An older Raph though, couldn't be played by the same face. That new face needed to be the face of the stereotypical NY thug. So that's where Dominick Lombardozzi and Michael Chikliss come in.

But! Having said that, there's no in-canon reason for these two characters to be played by the white boys I've chosen for them. So with that in mind, who would you have cast?
