Here, have some cute kitties (http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/72474db08b/noisy-kittens-want-dinner?rel=player).
I usually keep some links handy, like YouTube videos that make me laugh, threads on love memes where people said nice things about me, or read comments on fanfic or art I did that people liked. Things that made deliriously and stupidly happy at the time. XD
Some of what I do depends on why I'm grumpy. If I'm feeling low on self-image, for example, lately I like singing Katy Perry's "Firework" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGJuMBdaqIw) at the top of my lungs while I drive to work.
Hope you feel better, hon! Sometimes grumpy is okay. Let it out!
That is an excellent question. I'll let you know when I figure it out.
Oh, all right. First step, where applicable, is to close crackchat; those bweeps are annoying enough when you're in a good mood.
Beyond that, I have no consistent solution; sometimes I watch ridiculous AtLA music videos on Youtube, sometimes I review canon, sometimes I pace the living room.
I have a couple of songs on my mp3 playlist that I set aside for this purpose. Praan is the lead contender. You may know it as the song from the Where The Hell Is Matt (2008) video. Which is a massive mood-booster as well.
If it's still a problem when I get home from work I tend to load up Fallout and punch mutants in the face a lot. Or something similar.
(I am mostly unashamed to admit I was smiling on the inside when my purchase gained obvious cred with the guy behind the counter. Uh, mostly because he looked like a nerdier Joel McHale. But, shh.)
Hm. Knowing you're into the stringier side of alt-country -- my first inclination is Sky Blue Sky, but if you want something with more jagged edges (and songs about being drunk) that's a little more rambunctious, go with Being There. The latter is eleven years older than the former. Sample a little on iTunes if you can!
Play ragey music. I have a playlist for such purposes, because - um. It happens often enough. :\
Also: writing out all your frustrations, then tearing the page to shreds sometimes helps. Even if it's kind of terrible for the environment. (Just put the bits into the recycling after so it can be remade into other paper-products!)
Um. What's also worked for me is taking it out on characters in writing. If I've had a particularly bad experience, I'll put a character through something similar and let them deal with it the way I would've liked to/let them FEEL THE BURN more than I did. Idk.
For me, I find that looking at adorable things, or make-you-smile videos only makes me angrier.
A valid point, I think. Sometimes if it's bad enough, the cute, pick-me-up kinda stuff doesn't help.
I like your writing stories suggestion. I've always had a bit of trouble doing anything creative when I'm upset, but interestingly, my sister writes her best smut fic after she and I have had a really bad fight.
Do something, go for a walk, write, hide in a book, but moving always helps me the most. Also going driving with loud music helps too. A change of scenery can do wonders depending on what's bothering you.
I bake something that requires me to beat the living shit down in it. Though most recipes will call that instruction kneading. Or I bake something that I know I love like chocolate chip cookies, brownies, or croissants.
I've got a super easy bread recipe if you like. Nothing makes you feel quite as good as the smell of bread baking in your oven. Except maybe that first taste of the bread with a little bit of butter or cherry jelly.
Chocolate and/or fancy cup of coffee. >_> But don't just scarf either down- take a few minutes, eat/sip slowly, concentrate on and enjoy the flavors!
Or, I take a quick, 10 min break, and either listen to some music- closing my eyes and paying attention to each beat, riff and vocal in the song, or I do a 'quick' deep-breathing chakra meditation.
Any of the above helps me to concentrate on ~something~ else, and focus on something calming.
Also, the saying 'I knit so I don't kill people' very much applies to me. GREATLY.

(Katy Perry is good for that, I find. Except I end up singing "Circle the Drain". I wonder about that sometimes.)

If those fail to make me smile, then there's clearly something seriously wrong.

Back when I used to play WoW, punching monster-things was a very good form of stress-relief.

And then there's extremely silly.

Thank you. I'm going to pick up one of her albums and one of his. Oh and your last post about the poem was an amazing read.

I completely and utterly believe that sparkles fly from his fingertips in Real Life.

Just sayin'. :3

It's kind of awesome. Angry + productive!
And if it sucks, you have no obligation whatsoever to show anyone. But if it's brilliant? Weeell, then.

I hope you feel better.

I was feeling that way until my boss showed up with a warm apple pie...and now all I feel is well fed...

On that note, I'll be back later.

I tend to snark and insult when I'm irritable.
