There's a cross-step workshop in Boston in February that I'm excited to go to! Extra-excited now. I don't get to waltz anywhere near as often as I'd like.
Getting together with "the guys" for gaming at 10 am yesterday, playing Castle Ravensloft. Anywhere else in America, five guys on a Sunday hanging out without our wives would be for the football game. Not us.
Though it's also worth noting that one of the gang brought his toddler. Who of course took great joy in taking and playing with a D20.
Best moment: The brother of the host asks "you have any D20s?" Which is a silly question. But there was only one D20 in the bag of holding. Weird.
I spent my weekend cleaning up my flat so I have a clean flat to come home to after my holiday.
And then I dyed my hair out of sheer boredom. I very nearly took scissors to it as well, but thought against that at the last moment. I still might, though.
Oh and I was introduced to Horrible Histories. I can't decide which I like better, the songs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xL5GmZg6GM&playnext=1&list=PLBB569AB4BC28355F&index=16) or the historical wife swap (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLyW5UYPYYs).
Saturday was full of housecleaning and cooking, so I felt all productive! Which was both nice and overdue.
Yesterday I slept a lot, went dancing for less long than I thought I would (because the rehearsal was short, not because I wimped out), and then watched the end of a ridiculous French movie about mummies and pterodactyls with the housemates. Steph, if you have not seen Les aventures extraordinaires d'Adèle Blanc-Sec, you ought to. It's gloriously ridiculous, and bits of the aesthetic remind me of Pushing Daisies as a period piece. And then I spent a while reading a Laurence Yep Star Trek book when I should have been sleeping and now I am tired, um.
Also, there was RP all weekend. :D Which is also overdue, and was lots of fun.
No idea! Ask Feather. I know she had some trouble finding it, but she also did manage in the end, because, uh, we were watching it. It might've been via Netflix? I'll ask her tonight.
It's called Shadow Lord, and I think it might be out of print; I bought it used on Amazon. So far I'm about halfway through. The basic premise is that Spock and Sulu accompany an alien prince back to his planet, and then a lot of swashbuckling ensues.
I'm finding it fun, although kind of underwhelming as a Trek book; he does some interesting things, but I suspect that loving Laurence Yep will carry you far with enjoying the book, and loving Star Trek may or may not depending on which aspects you like best.
Saturday was all about errands and starting a new knitting project that I will only get done in time if I NEVER STOP KNITTING (it might have been a bad idea). Also lots of RP and John Wayne movies.
Sunday was painting and making the stuff for that family-wedding-trip-thing later this week, which only got partly finished because I'm still knitting... and RPing... and watching another John Wayne movie, actually. <<
OH AND YESTERDAY IT SNOWED, FINALLY, and today it is so lovely outside with a little blanket of white over everything.
This weekend was full of nostalgia for me: playing Pokemon, watching VHS tapes, and drinking Mountain Dew. I also watched The Master Swordsman, which ended up being one of those cases where somebody gives you a spoiler saying that you won't understand it if they don't spoil you on it but it ends up being something painfully obvious. (The spoiler being that it wasn't a movie but a tv series. Really? I never would have guessed from the quality, the theme song, or the sheer length of the 2 disc set that it wasn't one movie.) But I also started a couple of snowed-in projects, the main one being the maple apple sourdough bread that will probably be done in about...*checks watch*...two week-ish? And I'm thinking of baking some rolls or buns today.
My day was going really well since it seemed like my weekends were my own for the first time since I started at SI. Every semester I've worked some weekend shift. I like not working on them, but it turns out that I was wrong. I checked my email and found out I was working a Sunday chat shift. That wasn't there when I was putting together my schedule last week and I missed it and now seem like a bad worker.
Its worrying me because I know that shift wasn't there when I was arranging things last week. Now I'm freaking out because honestly I'm going to have tons of group work and I didn't actually want another shift. Just fuck.
Sorry, so far my InfoCulture class looks really interesting with lots of fascinating social science stuff and I think my Professional Practice course will be good.
It wasn't there last week, but its there now. I know at the start of the semester schedules get moved around a lot, but I think I would have remembered getting another shift.
I sent her an email and I asked if actually it could be taken by someone else. I really don't want to work three hours on top of the huge reading I have to do for my Monday classes. I think it'll be okay, I'm just flailing.
What's bugging me is at one point, I had a different Sunday shift but that was taken away from me. Usually if I was going to have an added shift, I'd have an email saying, this shift has been added to your schedule.
I know I must have gotten one and gah, I just want her to email me back so I can stop flailing.
Well, I've got class soon and that will be distracting and tomorrow my only class is at 5 pm, so things will get sorted somehow.

I mean, I had my period ao by the end of it I was lower back pain tastic, but it was so much fun and I waltzed! Yay waltzing.
If only I had more money. I'd dance SO MUCH.

BEST. WEEKEND. EVER. XD
Actually, went out for dinner a couple of times, did some karaoke. Oh, and I had today off, which was nice.

Made a model of Saturn and a few of its moons with the spawn for her science project on Sunday.
