Do any of your pups have a battle cry? If not, make one up! (It doesn't matter if they would never engage in battle, much less have a battle cry. Make one up!)

This may be a repeat, but I'm sick and too tired to look up a new DE topic.

Otherwise, who has the day off? Anything interesting happen this weekend?

Well, Cyborg has that whole BOOYAH thing, but he tends to use it after fights as much as before or during. And the Teen Titans have "Titans, Go!" as the thing Robin says before.

Do I need to state Ben's?

Jessica doesn't have one and likely wouldn't use one as she's more the sneaky blast you from the dark kind of gal. Still something along the lines of "Avengers assemble" is possible.

Val...I'm not sure. Something like, "Don't make me _____" maybe?

Santo: "Prepared to get ROCKED!" This is canon as of X-Men: To Serve and Protect.

Usagi says battle cries are for the undisciplined. Sorry.

Thalia: "For Honor!" or some line from a Greenday song.

Barbie doesn't fight but "For Shopping" or "For SHOES!" just came to mind.

Artemis is another one who depends on not be noticed or blending in for his line of work. If he did need a battle cry it's be something along the lines of "Give me liberty!" or some Shakespearean quote maybe from Henry the 8th.

Jenks just screams insults and obscenities at his foes. "Your breath smells like faerie farts", "Your mom must have made it with a chicken to make you" and the like.

She hasn't used it in a while, but on the rare occasions Ellen actually feels compelled to yell anything during combat, it's generally "KNEES! ARE! A! PRIVILEGE!".

Brock just yells. Loudly. He might swear on occasion, but it's usually just guttural noises.

Felix isn't into battle cries. He doesn't usually have anyone to rally, anymore, and he'd rather save his breath for swinging that big heavy metal stick around.

Kain's reasons are a little different - he prefers to fight in silence, on the grounds that it unnerves the enemy. Really, that's what Dragoon combat is all about - the thematic armor and helmet, the spears to keep them as far from you as possible, the Strike From Above! in a spacetime with only one, fairly small, air force - all to keep the other guy off balance.

(Come to think of it, I wouldn't be surprised to find that there's a unit of Dragoon longbowmen - there's not a lot that shakes someone up like a rain of arrows. They'd probably be more wyvern-themed, with lighter armor... perhaps not much of a helmet... Not canonical, of course, but plausible within canon.)

Han tends to either mutter colorful swears under his breath, or scream loudly while running down a hall into a room full of storm troopers.

Dan doesn't fight now, though I'm sure even back in the day when he fighting in the Civil War (the one battle he saw before he lost his leg) he probably just concentrated on shooting and not yelling.

For Carl, it depends on if he's trying to be a sneaky!ninja or if he's engaged in outright fighting; usually if it's the latter he's yelling orders and possibly a swear or two.

Hex doesn't have one, and neither do Diego or Skellig.

Doc has probably the only true 'battle cry' -- or used to, anyway. "Regulators!"

(Followed by a "Shiiiit." when things go awry.)

As for my other pups:

Hellboy usually leads with smart/bad-assery.

Logan likes the savage roar when he's pissed.

Puss in Boots disarms with kitty-eyes, then pounces, usually with a "Ha-ha!"

Billy's was "Regulators!", or maniacal laughter.

And of course there's the Tick and his "SPOOOOOOOOON!"

(And I totally just hurt myself laughing at that Chicken Butt icon XD )

Will's is A Locksley, which is canon and for Robin.

I'm not sure about Sameth, it would be some variation of The Old Kingdom but I don't know what. Canon isn't helpful.

Jane would like to not go into battle.

Same with Moist, he'll just be riding a fast horse out of town.

William doesn't really have one.

Demeter doesn't want to go in battle but if she does, its for family.

Tumnus' would be For Narnia!

The Pirate King's is along the lines of a general yelling and singing.

Oh, this is entertaining. XD

The Playstation remake of Lunar, which is the canon I've chosen for Mia, has the characters say things during battle depending on their actions. These are officially called battle voices. Mia only has two phrases with her battle voice, both used when casting magic. If it's fire magic, she says, "By the power of Althena," and if it's ice magic, she says, "Summon elemental power." The sequel took the battle voice idea and and ran with it, giving characters things to say whenever they use magic, use items, or run away. I probably can't even list all of the ones used by my sometimes-Mixed-Muse Leo. But I do remember very clearly that his alter ego Mystere has been known to say, "You need a spanking."

There is no speaking besides text in Mother 3 and Lucas, being a silent protagonist once he's the player character, doesn't say anything before these battles, so canon doesn't really tell us. But sound is important for Mother 3 battles, as they use a rhythm based combo system. Each character has a unique musical sound for their hits connecting. When a hit from Lucas connects, it makes the sound of an acoustic guitar (unless you equip him with a bat instead of a stick). In Super Smash Brothers Brawl, however, Lucas will shout the names of his PSI attacks, which I've adapted into Millicanon. Even though SSBB gives Lucas attacks that he will never learn in Mother 3, being the main healer. Also, part of Lucas joining the battle in SSBB is riding in on the Mr. Saturn table he used to get to Saturn Valley in the game, which is far more awesome than any battle cry.

And my computer's working for now!

I have now had a full week off. (My workplace is waiting on new projects.) I have been working on a shirt for Gray, making glow-in-the-dark Tron identity discs in both styles, and sleeping. A lot.

Enzo does not have a battle cry aside from general yelling, but now he's starting to think he should. Any suggestions?

Sariel doesn't have a battle cry, and the idea of having one doesn't much appeal to her. She'd sooner get the job done than be loud about it, and considering she's generally the one steering rather than fighting, that's pretty understandable.

I had today off, and it's been super mellow so far. Tomorrow's going to be a smidge on the chaotic side, I think.

[personal profile] death_gone_mad 2011-01-17 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Canon has only revealed one battle that Amascut has personally been involved in even though she is a big bad in game. I suppose she is the type that lets others fight her battles. Whether her enemy or her ally loses, she wins because at least someone was killed. The battle that canon revealed was her fight with Apmeken. Canon was sparse on details, but in the OOM I wrote to cover it, I had her go in with a "YOU ARE NOT MY SISTER!" She probably goes into battles she is personally involved in with similar crazytalk.

She did canonically toast her minions after they lost a battle while saying, "It is over. Now burn in the hell of your abject failure!" I suppose it can double as a victory speech. Why she never just toasts the player is a mystery. Maybe she has principles. Or maybe she is just training the player to be a godslayer or something else.

Evil Chicken has the canonical battlecry: "Flee from me, <insert name here>!"

If you can't brain enough to make one up, there's a generator. Here's an example of its output:

Zang! Who is that, sprinting on the cliffs! It is [livejournal.com profile] rotwood_reaper, hands clutching a jeweled meat hammer! She roars ominously:

"I'm going to beat you with such zeal, you'll reincarnate as an X-file!!"

[identity profile] cameoflage.livejournal.com 2011-01-18 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Jeweled meat hammer" sounds like something out of Kingdom of Loathing (http://www.kingdomofloathing.com).
