Ungh. I get to work earlier than Johns Hopkins releases its delays and closings data. Screw you too, random city university. *sigh*
IN OTHER NEWS:
1. Anyone been getting a lot of spammers lately on pup journals?
2. What canon are people not watching/reading/consuming that they really should be and why?

Some days I wish I could use computer code as an arcane connection, a la hair and fingernails, blood, personal items, what have you. Just to bestow painful but curable diseases on the people who write this crap. If you're going to infect my system, I get to infect yours. It's only fair.
*ahem*
Anyway. Canons. I've played 9/10 of the way through Psychonauts and am of the opinion that we should really have people from this canon in the Bar. And that more people should play it so that they will understand what I mean when I start frothing at the mouth and raving incoherently about the Meat Circus, which would be that last tenth I haven't played. Thank God for Youtube.

So you can imagine my joy at the Meat Circus.

(Also I know at least a little bit about everything thanks to my connection to the Troper Hivemind)

Canon that may be missed: Sandman Slim (http://www.amazon.com/Sandman-Slim-Novel-Richard-Kadrey/dp/0061714305) (which might best described as what would happen if John Constantine had become a Hitman) and the Kate Daniels series (http://www.amazon.com/Magic-Bites-Kate-Daniels-Book/dp/0441014895/ref=ntt_at_ep_dpt_2) of books (it's like what White Wolf would have made if they had made Rifts or Shadowrun, i.e. lots of fun! The covers are very cheesy but the books are good).

As to the covers, it amazes me that the artists can't even get her sword right.

Golden SunNo, I know I say that too much to too little effect. Um......
Does C.S. Lewis' nonfiction count? I mean, I know it wouldn't be a valid pup-source even if it had actual characters, but I've been rereading some lately and it's just amazingly inspirational.

2) I cannot say enough incredible things about Amy Greene's Bloodroot or Tom Rachman's The Imperfectionists; both feature sharp, visceral writing, and characters so faceted and flawed they're real. Gold stars all around, for serious.

For serious, e-mailing you about that very scenario has been on my mind for the past week! We have Bat's blessing (and Bill's, unbeknownst to him, bwah!); once I'm home and not sitting in traffic, typing on my phone? Muahaha, expect SHENANIGANS in your inbox. :D!

And you, m'dear! I, uh, had forgotten what it's like to EP; it's amazing to have in-bar threads again, bwah.

...also, my cat seems convinced that since it's nearly two hours past when I normally leave for work and I'm still puttering around the apartment, that means MORE PLAY TIME YAY. Kitten, that is not how two-hour delays work. I'm sorry. *pats her*

As for canons, we need some Five Fists of Science characters. Because one-shot comic about Mark Twain and Nikola Tesla saving the world through science? YES PLS.
(And as ever I think more people should check out Warehouse 13.)

As far as canons go, anyone who's a horror fan needs to check out the indie computer game Amnesia: the Dark Descent. I have briefly considered making a journal for the player character, but I'm afraid actually roleplaying him would cause my brain to try to escape through my left ear.

I'm such a fan of Kij Johnson's books and recommend her stuff, its fantasy set in medieval Japan. She writes about shapeshifters and is just amazing. The books I've read are Fudoki and I recently started The Fox Woman.
Also I started the Otori Chronicles and the Attolia series and they're both wonderful.

The canon I'm the most obsessed with right now is the new-to-me manga Liar Game. I ran into it randomly on TV Tropes, started reading it, and got hooked deep. If you're anything like me and love learning about game theory and watching battles of wits, you'll enjoy reading Liar Game.
My dad recently got me into Ugly Americans by gifting me with the first season for Christmas. I'm only sad that I don't have DVDs of the next season yet but what're you gonna do? Besides tell others they should watch it and that someone should really app Leonard, that is?
Dad has also reminded me of how much I love Futurama (and in relation to that, how much I love Dr. Zoidberg) by gifting me with seasons 3 and 4.

As for New Canons YAY! I can't recommend "The Hunger Games" and Pratchett's Discworld enough. (I'm just finishing up: "I shall wear midnight" at the moment.)
