My last few paychecks have been laughable, and the materials for my Carnival costume were a little more expensive than they should have been, so no splurging for me for the foreseeable future.
I don't get paid until next Monday. :( And even then, it's pretty evenly split between bills and the savings stockpile I'm trying to maintain in case of a shutdown.
Seriously, if Congress keeps funding the government with two-week stopgap CRs from now until September, I will asphyxiate a miscreant.
Count me in too, for reasons to be explained in a co-reply. Admittedly, I'd rather have money coming than not, but I'd rather have it without the Gooper fuckery.

As I hope was implicit in my reply to Fuzz, I can relate. I'm on disability, which usually comes in around the 3rd or 4th of the month. I've covered my credit card payments, but I'd like to have more certainly that I'm going to get a check in April before I do any more splurging. There's nothing out, or coming before the 29th, that I absolutely must have lest I die (well, the next Bleach DVD set drops on the 22nd, but I don't have to get it right then), so I can restrain myself in case I have to. And I may have to, because it's covered by my mom's Social Security.

How about something artistic, like ripping off Mitch McConnell's earthling mask and beating John of Orange about the head and shoulders with it?
Well, my grandmother has decided to pay me for doing a few things around the house. Like I wasn't doing them already. Anyway, maybe she'll let me use the credit card to get a specific book that i want, in Japanese. Other than that I already spent $160 on a textbook.
All of my paydays are on Thursdays, but every Thursday is designated to dinner or at least drinks with my sister. It's nice because places aren't crowded on Thursdays! We get to try new places and foods and just be ourselves for a couple of hours. It's my favorite day of the week!
I got paid on Sunday for an order of tarts. Most of the money went back to my sister for helping me with supplies. I used my share to splurge on a Ritter Sport bar, a bag of my favorite potato chips, and Snakes on a Plane.
Sadly, my payday isn't until Friday. BUT!!! I will be getting my tuition reimbursement check this week! Which means I can completely pay off one of my credit cards, while still having enough left over to take another sizable chunk out of a second card.
This...doesn't so much get me out of credit card debt, but it lessens it enough to make me squee and bounce.
Completely random here but have you seen the designs for the new TMNT Nickelodeon is doing? Not sure I approve of Mike and Don having blades on their weapons.
I have, and I've got to say that overall I'm really pleased with what I've seen. They're looking very A.C. Farley inspired, and as he's one of my favorites from the Mirage Days...I'm really kind of stoked to be honest.
As for the weapons....yeah, that's a bit of a change. Especially given the historical personality traits of the characters. I'm not expecting bladed weapons to have a huge presence in the cartoon though. I mean, it's a kids show after all.
Things I've heard that have piqued my interest:
- The voice casting (Rob Paulson for Donatello, and Jason Biggs as Leonardo.) - There's rumored to be more action, which...I can totally get behind after how awesome the Imagi scenes were for that. - And there's supposed to be increased focus on the fact that they're kids, and not used to the surface. Something I've always hoped would be touched up on more in their various incarnations.
I've not heard those other points of yours. I am pretty excited by what I've seen and I hope the blades are more for show than anything else, especially as far as changing the characters. I do like the animation I've seen and I like angle of them not being used to the surface. = ]
I've been hearing bits and bobs about this project for the last week or so. Nick's been saying that they want to make the turtles recognizable as individuals and not have kids have to rely on the bandannas to tell who is who.
Which says to me that they're going to be different sizes, and have different mannerisms. Both of which are a-okay by me.
The blades are pretty, I will give the animators that. I mean...seriously: SHINY!
In my perfect world of worlds I'd love to see them come to the surface looking for Splinter, who we haven't heard one word about, and run into April. Who...I would love to be an investigative blogger, student, computer nerd.
That's just the best of all possible canons. It'd please a large chunk of turtle fandom, but clearly not everyone.
I dunno, but I'm certainly HOPING that they have at least a little SOMETHING at Comic Con this year. At least give me the voice actors for the rest of the cast, Nick. PLEASE!?!?!
Yrael will have to prove his lack of playa player status. Possibly with sushi.
I really want Rachel to meet Kyo, sometime. >_> Another angry-fighting-growly youth, though possibly more prone to sulking than Rachel. Complete with appropriate ljname. (nofightingbears) :D
That's totally what I thought when I saw his LJ name. XD I'm up for it, the only problem is putting two sulky growly teens together doesn't often make for everlasting friendship.
If you post, I will tag? It's been a not-so-fun time lately and I'm not feeling super adventurous with scenes.
Currently in slowtime, Kyo and Yrael are sparring outside on the grass. Kyo is a much better fighter than Yrael is. ^_^
Will gladly post in a little bit. <3 Doesn't have to be much. Have just missed threading with you. *snugz and shares tea* Hope things go better for you soon.
My last payday was Friday and so far I haven't splurged on anything, but I always have ideas to get at the local bookstores or Borders. Borders keeps sending me coupons, which really isn't helpful.
I get paid on Friday. It's going toward a loan bill and gas (ohgodwhyyyyyy). Not exactly a splurge, but over the weekend I got a SHINY NEW PHONE. Hopped off my parents' plan and onto Verizon, which says I've used a whole three minutes so far (being on the same network as the people you talk to all the time FOR THE WIN).
Not getting paid today, but since today is the first day I've had off since work that is free to run errands since I've been paid- there is shopping being done. Which isn't so much 'yay, shoe shopping!' but ".... I need new shoes. Let's hope the store isn't too crowded."
Let's hope what I consider proper shoes are what the fashion industry has decided to make and sell. (This is rarely the case. Same with clothes.)
Heee. I found this icon ~somewhere~, and grabbed it since... it can look like Wellard, if you squint enough. >_> Later, saphyria showed me the Final Fantasy it was from, and what character it was. *snicker* Hey, sky pirate works!
And as for the shoe update. Spring is the wrong time to go looking for ankle boots. Found some lovely ones- in clearance, in all the wrong sizes. I did find something casual-dressy, with a sliiiiiiight heel, in black- that if they did go up higher (to the ankle) would have been perfect! And considering this is spring- well, they prolly are perfect. But then I had to get some thinner, nicer socks to go with them. La.
Mine's not until next Wednesday, but I did sell a load of books on Sunday (for far less than they were worth; I am never going to buy books at full price again, you guys) for an amount that will juuuuuuuust about cover preordering The Sims Medieval, to which I have been looking forward for almost three months now.

I may splurge though and get Late Eclipses or a new audio book, most likely part two of the Larklight trilogy.
