Justice League: Year One
Summary Time!
So it all started when, on the day after Dinah returned to crimefighting from her sabbatical in Okinawa, she ended up fighting a giant glass giant on the streets of Gotham. On the very same day, Hal Jordan, aka Green Lantern found himself pitted against a giant yellow bird. They weren't the only people fighting aliens that day, and soon they found themselves, along with the Flash, Aquaman and Martian Manunter, trapped by a tree alien, against whom teamwork sets them free
With some of the aliens destroyed, but two merely captured, the group arranged to hand them over to the US army - a procedure that didn't turn out so well, with the sudden appearance of a group calling themselves Locus. The superheroes fought them, with varied success, and agreed to meet in a few days to discuss the possible threat.
Thanks to Dinah informing her mother of this fact beforehand, the meeting turned into something most people were not expecting, and the Justice League of America were formed.
There are teething troubles with the team, however, and it proves hard for a group of strangers - two of which are strange even to the "normal" world of civilian America - to learn to trust each other. And there are teething troubles in their civilian life as well; Hal has trouble with his boss wanting to know why he's missing his appointments, and Dinah, whose family know what she does, has to deal with discovering the Justice Society weren't as perfect as she thought they were.
Skip forward a month or so, and the Justice League had become an established a-list crime fighting team, even enough to have teams ups! With the Doom Patrol! Even though that resulted in the League falling apart, albeit temporarily. And literally. More pressing, though, was more worrying information about the Locus organisation.
A conversation with an between Hal and old friend on the Doom Patrol led to more suspicion about the source of the mysterious funds of the JLA, and they decided to confront their associate, Simon Carr. Instead of giving them answers, it just resulted in more tension, as they found out J'Onn is a telepath. What other things were they keeping from each other?
An encounter with Superman serendipitously brings the JLA more information about the original aliens they fought: They believed there had been six, but Superman fought a seventh, and when looking for it, they found evidence of an eighth, in Star City. Home of the second most obnoxious and cocky superhero with the colour 'green' in his name.
[Meanwhile, in a bar at the end of the universe, a florist and a test pilot met and got to talking and - well, we Do Not Talk About It.]
So that was awkward. Fortunately, nothing alleviates inter-team awkwardness like being betrayed by another team mate.
Down to four members, the Justice League could bearly hold it together, until a series of seismic disturbances gave them something to unite together about, against Locus and the Appellaxians. (And gainst finding out that the man Dinah had a crush on is engaged). Friendships were reformed, and masks were finally taken off, just in time for a MASSIVE ALIEN INVASION.
All the world's superheros went missing, which left the Justice League alone against the invaders, a seemingly impossible task that they managed to rally from just enough to rescue said superheroes, and led an army against the invaders - an army that included patrons of Milliways Bar. Because the middle of an invasion is the perfect time to resolve love triangles, Dinah did just that, before the entire League had to face up to facing up to an important question: given the options of annihilation and genocide, could they make the right choice?
And now we're done! A year on comic time, and about a year in bar time. It's rare that a plot occurs so closely in time, even if the rates of time passing wasn't constant.
Guys, if you ever get the chance to plot with Rick - DON'T DO IT. I want him all to myself forever <3
