It was a low-key weekend, given that it's a month since Batya's mother passed on and there were two different memorials she attended (one for women only and one for the community at large). So nothing particularly cool.

Have been watching my way through Star Trek classic on Netflix, though. Catching some things I never picked up on before:

Drunken Sulu who thinks he's a swashbuckler, to Uhura: I'll save you, fair maiden.

That is, I think, one of the best episodes ever. The cast is clearly having entirely too much fun with the concept.

I rode twenty-three miles through the hills of Morris and Somerset County on my bike, and while I was the last person to cross the finish line for the training ride, I did at least get there without having to get off and walk. Had to stop the bike a few times and just gasp for air, but no getting off and walking.

Saturday we splurged on food from Blackwoods, local makers of fine gyros. :D

Yesterday I had the house more or less to myself, so I watched movies, drank tea, and cooked a pork loin in pear cider. It's tasty.

Well. Okay. I went to a convention where they had a corner set up to look like a room from Hogwarts with props from the HP films.

But still! Conventions are cool, right?

I wrote a cover letter and draft of a grant and now I'm not going to class. There's a thunderstorm going on out there and I'm feeling worn out so I'm playing hooky.

I'm trying to think if I had any really neat questions and I did try and help someone find a book in Yiddish that we didn't have.

I also made chickpea salad.
