I made a layout for bloodyvirgo, thereby teaching myself some more CSS! I am pretty pleased with how it came out.
I also took Karkat back to his roots by getting into a flame war with someone who was WRONG ON THE INTERNET COMMUNITY BULLETIN BOARD. Can't let all the angst distract from his true nature as a troll.
*HIGH-FIVES* Welcome to dark side, my friend. There is coffee and donuts, and a padded wall to beat your head against while fiddling with code, not understanding why god why doesn't it work? D: D: Nicely done!
I used to be so scared of it! And then I taught myself a tiny bit to make Karkat's layout and then another big whack for Kanaya's, and it is not actually hard to follow at all. I mean, as you say, murderously difficult to get it to do what you WANT, but not hard to take in as code. Of course, I was just making some modifications to an existing layout, not coding from scratch.
I fell in love with HTML a few years before CSS made its break onto the scene, and it all just snowballed from there. You're right, it's really not difficult, and actually fun, and satisfying when things work! You just have to be a bit of a masochist to get there. ;)
I actually threaded! Thrice! People requested Grace, and I was more (http://milliways-bar.livejournal.com/24277413.html?thread=1097679781#t1097679781) than happy (http://milliways-bar.livejournal.com/24278375.html?thread=1097758567#t1097758567) to oblige (http://milliways-bar.livejournal.com/24279234.html?thread=1097829058#t1097829058) them.*
Because, let's face it, waiting for me to EP a pup is like waiting for snow in July. >_> Also, tagbacks! They will be happening today, for I love these threads mightily. ♥
...okay, by the race's standards I "died" sometime around mile two, and I am pretty sure I went into the genuinely scary kind of cold shock during one of the obstacles (which involved swimming through a river where I couldn't touch bottom. in October. in Maryland.), BUT I DIDN'T DIE. And I finished the course in under an hour! And I can now say I've made it through a 5k, albeit a very atypical one that involved periods of walking followed by scaling a cargo net/stack of haybales/angled climbing wall followed by MAD SPRINTS FROM THE ZOMBIES OHGOD.
Good race. Best weekend. :D Next time I will wear cleats and try to cut out some of the walking bits.
Shoot. I knew there was something I was forgetting this week.
In RL, I took my daughter to a Math and Science day camp and we ended up walking 3+ miles.
Today I am making hakama for her and her BFF for their Halloween costumes (they are being Scathach and Aoife from The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel books) and I am hoping to make a passable Iroh costume for myself.
Claudia asked Gordon why so smug, boggled that his impostor made it out alive and un-castrated, and then shared her experience with the other end of a teleportation mishap. And then she rocked out... and got an offer she can't refuse. While to some extent the post was an excuse for Enzo to invite her, it's still open.
kd7sov and I have been working our way through the two-part season premiere of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The OOMs for Part 1 may be found here (http://milliways-bar.livejournal.com/24284043.html) and here (http://milliways-bar.livejournal.com/24284251.html); with any luck, we'll have Part 2 done early in the coming week so we can make "Luna Eclipsed" fall on Nightmare Night Halloween.

William is off having adventures in the Capitol Wasteland again. This is going to be great when it's all finished.
Sameth sang and doesn't like the Evil Karaoke machine.
Tumnus met Alcide and there was much mutual confusion.
This week I also sent out more job things, made more job plans and wrote about Roleplaying and Research on my librarian blog.
