Daily Entertainment

I'm taking a lot of shifts this week so I get two morning ones and didn't really sleep properly last night. The one good thing was I was able to have tasty gingerbread pound cake for breakfast at Starbucks.

What do your characters look forward to in the colder months? Do they look forward to anything? What about yourself, what are your favorite parts of the shortening and colder days?

Spike likes less big burny ball of fire in the sky.

Tyler likes that it's cold enough for cocoa with cinnamon red hots now.

Me, I like the excuse to pile up my bed with blankets and lurk under them.

...Mother tends to like winter because he gets to live in fricking CALIFORNIA...but not the drives he has to go to in order to escape the light pollution and set up surveillance equipment in the desert.

It is soooo tasty. I tend to like mine with a touch of sweet ancho chili powder though.

avoid my mistake the first time. ANCHO. No Allepo.

Allepo is a smoky savory tangy thing that is better suited to pizza, spaghetti and chili.

Felix kinda has a love-hate relationship with winter, on account of he doesn't travel as much. On the one hand, this appeals to his Earth-person instincts to root himself, but on the other he spends a fair bit of his time trying to suppress just such instincts. (I keep meaning for this to bite him, but it never seems to be the right time.)

Fluttershy likes the opportunities to stay inside by a fire and have cocoa. And she enjoys some winter-type friend activities. And, occasionally, she likes that a lot of the animals she cares for hibernate, giving her a bit of a rest. But - canonically - her favorite part of the whole season is its last day, Winter Wrap-Up, when she gets to wake them from their hibernation and see them again.

I love winter...at least the winter I get on the West Coast. ; p

I also look forward to the Pumpkin Spiced Lattes and Gingerbread Lattes from Starbucks. I used to go for the Eggnog shakes and Peppermint shakes Jack-In-The-Box has this time of year but those aren't such good choices for my health nowadays.

As for pups...Ben loves holiday cookies, both making and receiving.

I'm afraid no one else is speaking up.

It's a poster of Alphonse Mucha's (http://fummeltunte.tumblr.com/post/2712453242/ugh-i-want-a-mucha-tattoo-so-bad-when-i-visited) and is one of the few seemingly male subjects of his work. Funny story though is it isn't a male but of Sarah Bernhardt playing a male in a stage play.

I love Mucha as well. In fact I'd be tempted to say he's my favorite of the Art Nouveau artists. Is the icon part of Demeter's current icons? Scurries to go look.

This Harry Potter illustration (http://www.moonfeather-ink.com/digitalart/horcruxes_lg.jpg) inspired by Mucha is pretty awesome.

Oh that is nice!

The Firefly posters are neat. Have you seen the X-men ones (http://www.comicsalliance.com/2011/05/11/mighty-fine-x-men-t-shirts/) by Megan Lara? Beautiful stuff! Oh hey, it's the same artist as the Firefly ones (http://meganlara.com/). = ]

And how many Milliways patrons am I seeing there?

[identity profile] spooky-lemur.livejournal.com 2011-11-17 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh I guess the internet's a pretty small place when you run in similar circles. = ]

Those are gorgeous yet slightly familiar. Have you shown them to me before?

It is entirely possible.

[identity profile] spooky-lemur.livejournal.com 2011-11-17 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Still good to see them again if so. =D

The colder, darker days are some of Raph and Mike's favorites for different reasons. Mike loves the holidays, Raph the fact that it gets darker sooner. Both of them appreciate the freedom the cold weather used to grant them. It's much easier to go about the city as a giant turtle when you're all bundled up in snow gear.

The older Splinter gets the less he likes the cold weather. It makes his joints ache.

Aang has one thing to say about snow: PENGUINS!

I really do love that kid so much.

I joined the local rowing club's calisthenics session last night and am still stiff and sore.

That out of the way, Ako looks forward to hot chocolate, fire places and the chicken dinner that comes a Christmas.

Robo always enjoys an excuse to break out a specialty hat and occasionally play Santa in a kids hospital. The part where people freeze to him if he's been out in the cold too long is unfortunate.

I don't have a favorite thing as much as a favorite situation. On a clear night in the middle of winter when it's too cold for the snow to stick to your shoes and you can look up and see all the stars in the sky. Well, all the stars that are visible between the scarf pulled up and the fur cap pulled down. That's my favorite part.

That or snowball fights at around 11pm under street lights.

Amascut, I think, doesn't like the cold much. Long ago part of her job was probably taking care of those things that died in the winter, though being from apart of her world that could be considered to be within tropical latitudes, there wasn't much additional work to do. You would think that the stillness of winter would draw her out of the desert and into more temperate or polar climes, but she seems content staying in the same general area. It's hard to anticipate anything in a season that barely happens for her.

As for myself, all I anticipate from winter is a good snowfall. It is sometimes the only significant precipitation New Mexico gets for the year. It's good for the Spring. Other than that, I just like watching how other people adjust to the cold and to each other's ways of adjusting. You know, there are people who just love turning the thermostat all the way to 80° F and it causes havoc etc. etc.

Oh, yes, all the exciting astronomy happens in winter. When it's too cold for me to be looking at things through my dinky little telescope. :(

Just kidding, it's fun sometimes.

Enzo likes the natural cooling, of course, and snow is awesome. Of course, nature in any form, including all seasonal effects, is a novelty for him.

Me: cocoa.

I tend to like mine Mexican style, with cinnamon and hot pepper, but I just got a lovely mix which is chai-spiced: cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, and vanilla. ^_^

Yrael likes the fire in the fireplace, and the natural camouflage given by the snow, but not much past that. He dislikes the cold and wet.

Rae likes the food that comes with the winter holidays, like making that food for others to enjoy, but would like for the sun to come back soon, kthnx. *grabbyhands*

The best part of winter is the warm cocoon of blankets I wake up in each morning. ...Of course, it is swiftly ruined by the fact that then I have to get up, and it's cold, and dark, and I want to go back to bed.... But there is cocoa, and hearty stews, and family and food. ^_^

Clementine likes roaring fires. And what people do in front of them.

Dixie likes the snow and walking through it.

Juliet loves EVERYTHING about it. Cocoa and mittens and sweaters and caroling. She's one of the most annoying Christmas people ever.

She doesn't, much to her sadness. And she grew up around Florida, but she's got Canadian roots, apparently.
