The Anti-Greenhouse

So Cam and I were having a thread-related conversation and it occurred to me that while Milliways has a garden where you can grow anything that would survive in Scotland, and a greenhouse for a lot of things that wouldn't, there really isn't a good place to grow plants from arid environments. Which is a shame, because desert plants need love too! And some of them are very handy.

So maybe Milliways should have a "desert-in-a-box" where such plants can grow. I have a couple of ideas about what it would look like - it would definitely have a high-tech climate control system and a realistic-looking artificial sky, complete with a fake sun and moon.

Zhaan would definitely be able to design something like this, but she'd need some help building it (in the spring, of course). And it's only worth doing if people other than myself are interested in it.

Please let me know if you'd like to see this "anti-greenhouse" on the Milliways grounds, either just for the heck of it or because one of your pups might actually use it. Also let me know if you can spare a pup to assist with the actual building.

Lucas already works/volunteers for the greenhouse when he's not at home. That plus his experience in keeping his house, including structural repairs to his stable, gives him some basics on building. He'd be happy to help.

Once his current OOM is finished up (which I'm being a total bum about XD;), I can bring him back into the bar proper and we can put him to work. :D?

I know my little desert dweller would run and hide in there on occasion, especially in the winter, but I can't see her actually helping to build it. Well, beside bringing in a cactus or two from her world.

Yeah -- I don't have any desert dwellers per se, but I do have a couple of characters who would spend some time in there! Probably not anyone who'd be invested enough to help build it, though.

My newly apped character eventually might if asked, depending on how things go, but it would be an "Oh, okay, yes, I can help hold things...?" kind of thing, not actually thinking to volunteer or help spur the project.

I as a mun am totally a fan of the notion, though!

Kate would probably use it a great deal. The desert is home to her, it calms her, though she isn't always in a position to walk out her door to get to it. So, I'm most certainly interested. ^__^

Sadly, she's no carpenter or construction worker, but she's a good strong hand if there's any hauling or setting up that needs doing. She can weild a tool for certain, if there's someone directing what needs to be done.

Since Mahora seems to teach basic renovation skills as part of their extra curricular activities, sure why not?

I don't know how I'd use it, but it sounds cool :)

Sounds amazing - Clementine would volunteer some cacti from the Reno area, if possible!
