MOD POST the 3rd

So! With LJ's latest news post being... what it is, we thought it was probably time to address the Dreamwidth Question.

As most of you have probably heard by now, Dreamwidth have stated that community imports are in the pipeline, albeit somewhat delayed by the current flood of sign-ups and imports. As of yet, there aren't any details on what (if any) restrictions there will be on this process, whether [livejournal.com profile] milliways_bar will be too big to handle, or - well, anything, really.

What we do know: if importing is at all possible, we will almost certainly be backing up the [livejournal.com profile] milliways_bar and [livejournal.com profile] ways_back_room archives to DW.

What we don't know (yet): whether a full-scale move of the game is something we can realistically do at this point. We're definitely not ruling it out, but... well, let's just say that the idea of trying to organise it kind of makes us want to weep in horror.

What you should do: this week only, you can create free Dreamwidth accounts without invite codes. Therefore,

As of now, we are encouraging everyone who hasn't already done so to set up mirror DW journals for their pups and import their content from LJ.

(And, if you love us, to please please oh god please give these mirror accounts the same usernames as their LJ counterparts.)

If nothing else, you'll have a back-up of your work. And if it comes to the point that Milliways does need to move to DW, the more character journals that are already over there, the less nightmarish the process will be.

Oy. I'll have to get started on this after work today.

Is there any Dreamweaver equivalent of the LJLogin extension for Firefox?

If you mean Dreamwidth equivalent, LJLogin works with DW. Just go into the preferences and select the DW thing. Check box. It has options for InsaneJournal and Scribbld and JournalFen and all sorts of stuff.

Yes. I've discovered this, and it's amazing.
