Emergency DE Activate

So how does your pup feel about time off? Do they truly enjoy it or are they chomping at the bit to get back to work?

Also, is it me or are the Dreamwidth imports not working beyond tags, icons and profiles? I don't think any of my imports has succeeded in grabbing any journal entries. I'm beginning to think I'll just make my pup journal and wait for the uproar to quiet down and then try importing.

The import works, it just takes forever. Like, more than a day. There's a huge queue for importing the entries and comments. Just be patient.

Huh. I didn't get any errors, just queue messages until it finished.

Check those inbox messages, part of the reason your imports are failing is coding issues on LJ's part. The messages you get will send you a link to work around those coding issues for an full import.

Sadly you'll not get icons with your comments in the entries.

Yeah, I had to leave my computer on overnight to import my mun journal, but it did happen. Now I just need to sort out crossposting and decide what to do about pups stuff.

A lot of my pups aren't good at being lazy at all. They like being active. Even Moist who has his lazy moments is happiest when dancing on the edge of getting caught.

You don't actually have to leave your computer on overnight to import things, though! In fact, from what I've read, you can technically still post new stuff on top of that and just carry on as usual while DW takes care of the imports for you.

Having said that though, my comments for my imports are severeeely delayed. As in, I haven't yet had them import.

Oh, well!

Ah good to know. I've been fairly slow moving on all of the LJ-DW transfer stuff but that's just me. So far I only did an import of one journal.

Karkat likes to keep busy, but he prefers to set his own schedule. Left to his own devices he will choose huge ambitious projects for himself, fall down at the first hurdle, then get depressed and give up.

Kirk hates time off. He chomped at the bit when Bound years back, and he remains a workaholic.

Knox keeps the odd hours of a columnist, so he is, in his mind, always of something like a vacation since he doesn't work 9 to 5. But he does like his days away from the office a lot.

Charlie stopped keeping regular work hours years ago. He doesn't miss it.

Gibbs is a pirate. Piracy is more a way of life than a job. And it has a lot of free time for drinking.

Cyborg is well on his way to being a workaholic. He loves to fill every hour of the day with something.

Howard Stark likes to go months without any time off, and then weeks without reporting to work. It works for him. Or did before the war started, at any rate.

Yeah, I just moved over a fic meme, and it's still trying to work out what to do with all the comments. It took over 24 hours to move our five or six entries. x_x

70s!Gene loves time off. Or thinks he does. He throws himself into holidays with gusto - sleeping a lot, drinking a lot, spending a lot of time sunning himself on the beach. After about a week though, he starts to wonder what's going on back home and is generally happy to march back into his kingdom.

80s!Gene - I dont think he really knows what time off is. He appreciates his weekends off, though I think he probably finds a few work-related things to do then as well. But he doesn't really take weeks off, or go abroad much. Maybe under sufferance.

Enzo likes his vacations because, besides getting to go home to Mainframe and his family, he gets to help with actual Games. However, despite the impression the show gives, those aren't occurring constantly, so by the end of vacation he's usually sufficiently bored to be happy enough to get back to the Academy.

Belle doesn't really do time off. She'll come into the bar for a drink, or an overnight stay, but even then she's thinking about her job. She's also got kids to look after, which makes 'time off' a relative thing.

Lorna loves not having to be a superhero, but she's filling her time prior to canon re-alignment working. She gets fidgety with nothing to really do.

Kyo likes to spend time by himself a lot. He'd be permanently on vacation, training in the woods, if he could be.

Domino thinks of her time between jobs as part of the payment for doing those jobs. It's part of the reason she doesn't really work on a team, yet. She's used to spurts of insane activity and danger, followed by a couple weeks off, and then research for the next job.

"Time off" is... not really a thing that Felix thinks about. He is, in some ways, like a superhero - charged with protecting his world, always on duty, etc., etc. Luckily his world has rather fewer major threats than many comic-book worlds seem to, since he's one of about half a dozen people qualified (in his eyes, anyway) for the work, and two of them are raising a family instead of doing field work. So he's got a lot of time when he's not actively doing any protecting, but he's always alert for it.

Fluttershy... I'm less sure. She takes care of the Ponyville-area animals, which is basically a continuous thing for three seasons of the year, but she always seems to have time to participate in whatever her friends are up to. (Except when she's completely absent and unmentioned, but that's not especially common.) She certainly enjoys doing it, and has explicitly mentioned that despite the "awesome holidays", her favorite part of winter is the end, when she gets to see all the animals waking up from hibernation. All in all, I'd say she's closer to the second category than the first, but neither really fits her.

Ellen has no clue what to do with time off. In the Vault, work detail took up most of your day. Idle time, for her, was time spent reading or practicing with her BB gun down on the reactor level, and inevitably had the feel of something furtive and stolen, since whenever the Overseer or someone else in charge caught her not at work, they'd start getting snarky about it. On the surface there was no one to enforce that for a long time, but it still felt bizarre to her; not working is malingering, sponging limited resources off the labor of others. She's a good deal happier with Brotherhood of Steel duties to fulfil and with the fact that any down time at home is now spent taking care of her Brahmin and the experimental plants from Oasis. Really, if she has time off, she doesn't know what to do with herself beyond reading whatever material comes to hand.
