I'm having enough trouble chasing the muse of my active pups? I mean I've got a couple of new pups rattling around but I've so many open threads at the moment it doesn't feel right to app someone new.
Apps have been light for a while, but yeah, I think some of it is waiting to see about DW. Hell, that's why I haven't been arsed to post lately- I have stuff I need to do with my characters but LJ leaves a sour taste in my mouth whenever I think about it.
The last time we said "everybody has to play the pups they already have instead of applying", we spent months in the app freeze with activity dropping like a brick.
Yeah, I remember that now. So mandating is a bad idea. But what about suggesting? I miss a lot of pups that, AFAIK, are still in the game, and wouldn't mind seeing them around.
(At the same time, I know that I am weird in rarely apping new pups. There are times when it's clear I am not quite playing the same game as everyone else.)
I wouldn't mind people bringing out their staler pups, either- and I'm going over my own pup list to see if there are any I just don't need to bring to DW, assuming we make the move. Mostly because if mine go stale, it's usually for a reason, and it'd be better for me to drop them rather than force the voice.
How about a DE wherein folks list the disused pups and others comment with suggested themes/activities for EPs? I know in the past that has given me great inspiration.
Personally, I don't app much anyway. But also, I've been slipping lately, anyway, activity-wise. Partly because of LJ's shenanigans, partly because I get distracted by other stuff. My interest is a cyclic thing; I expect I'll be back at peak in a few months.
Come to think of it... Okay, that's strange, I can't seem to find Fluttershy's acceptance-to-the-comm email, but anyway I seem so far to app about two characters every other year. So we'll see what comes up in 2013.
If I had anyone I wanted to app (other than Rebecca, but she still refuses to go anywhere without Jack, so...), I would be waiting to see if we were moving first, yes. As it is, no one's loud enough other than the one who's demanding I pull someone else in if I try.
I want to post more as I had hoped to do more with the break but then life got in the way. I don't app very often so no new pups for me.
In terms of the migration, I'm one of those who'd rather it didn't happen though I understand why. I think LJ messing up seems to have gotten in the way of Milliways being Milliways which I find sad. I love the game for the players and the chances to interact. If it moves, I'll reconfigure icons and things but it seems as if LJ has somehow gotten in front of playing for some.
I am at 10 chars, so no more for me until I figure out what to do with the roster. I have been needing to make some changes on that score.
As far as LJ goes, it was a real fight for me to do the one realtime in-bar thread I've tried since the "upgrade." It's Hoshi and Gaeta, in Gaeta's last EP, in an attempt for them to receive and react to Demeter's gift... And no one would know that if I didn't say and/or do a direct to thread link, because it doesn't load in the main post due to known custom-comment bugs that have been extant for months and months. Which is part of why the train wreck of the new default is a major issue for actual usability reasons, I feel.
Whee frustration.
(Thread isn't complete. Trying email and copy paste method to route around display enough to force it to load. )
Right with you there in hope. I am just frustrated in part b/c how I thread involves having threads open in tabs and refreshing to check status for updates so I can reply in a timely fashion, and I can't do that now because they either don't show or the refresh boots me back to the base post. Which means multithreading and free-tag spontaneity for me at least is severely affected.
Bleh. Oh well. Time to try email tag tricks and/or more OOMs until a better workaround or relocation or whatever goes into effect.
I'm at my 10 limit count as well, so I can't app anyone else (and there are 3 badass ladies who want to be apped!) until I get rid of someone ...
At this point, though, I'm just not sure there's anyone I realistically want to get rid of.
Besides, I don't play as much as I used to, and the thought of writing up an app feels quite daunting to me at this point.
But yeah - the LJ fail is also a contributing factor. Is it just me or do some threads seem to completely disappear when loading pages? There's a lack of horizontal scroll too, at least in the new commenting system, and I loathe the 'expand' feature because it takes ages to load.
I'd resolved to get better about tagging before the holidays, and actually had a nice creative rhythm.
Then Christmas happened. I had no time to do the number of things I wanted to do because I was either cooking a meal, or too tired from having cooked a meal. And if that wasn't enough to set me behind, F'n LJ with their f'n 88 roll out just knocked me off my flow.
I never realized how much I enjoyed being able to zoom in on threads, and have that zoom remain after tagging, until it was taken away from me. Ugh, so frustrating.
Personally, headvoices don't come to me very often. Amascut was quite a surprise in that respect. That, and I don't do much reading, TV watching, movie watching, game playing, etc. anymore. I am too busy with school and other projects to do so, and I refuse to multitask. I have found that it is a waste of energy, a waste of money, and a waste of my attention and time. *looks sideways at a certain other mun*
Amascut is a big project in and of herself. Her ~8,000 year old backstory needs filling in.
You know what I have been noticing though? Pups have been EPing that I haven't seen play this game before or who I haven't seen in a while. That might make up for the lack of apps.
You know what, that is almost a shoutouts comment. Hmm... well, I can just copy-paste it into the weekly shoutouts when Gabby posts later today. Yay laziness!
Can you pass this on to Sophie, our wonderful CSS Fairy?
Milliways' CSS currently ignores <small> tags, and possibly <big> as well, but I haven't attempted using the big tag.
I think this is because somewhere in the CSS there is a line that says something like small {font-size:100%;}. Could you tweek the custom CSS so that it says something like small {font-size:75%;} or something sensible?
I'm in much the same way..I'm just waiting for the great migration and everything else. I also don't read or get into the media that often, most often my head tends to stay buried in certain books and the voices there are quite...difficult to get socializing.
That and doing any sort of RP on LJ right now just leaves me annoyed and wanting to take the games elsewhere.
I am afraid of even trying to RP until LJ has cleared it stuff up, or we move to DW, even though I finally have the time/creative energy; the layout now is headache-inducing (not migraine) and very hard for me to understand what is going on--like, to follow what is happening, make the page make sense. I'm afraid I might have to drop all my characters if we stay at LJ, but I really hope it doesn't come to that even if I have to just post OOMs and fake-OOMs.
I actually am vaguely contemplating adding a character to Milliways (specifically, Jack Skellington seems to be gaining a foothold in my brain), but I'm all BLUH LJ DON'T WANNA DEAL WITH LJ on top of my usual skittishness about playing fandom characters and writing apps.
Well, I did one this month. Won't be using him as often as Jim, since there's a particular srs-face mood I need to get into to do the movie justice. I plan on bringing Jim around once every one or two weeks during school. John McCabe, on the other hand, will probably start up a poker game or something every one or two months.
Just throwing something out there, since I don't think there's any way in hell I could do him justice, but has anybody ever played as the Dude (from The Big Lebowski, for any poor impoverished soul who hasn't seen that movie)? Having him around would be AWESOME.

But I have an idea that maybe it's time to encourage people to play pups they don't play too often in addition or even instead of apps.
Which is something I am guilty of myself.

Don't know if I'll have time to submit him this month yet, though.

And there's nobody I want to app all that urgently. On the other hand, I'd take only five of them to DW if we do move.
EPs have been scant, too.

I'm going to try and do more EPs this week.

*hugs* I hate this mess and hope we can find a good solution for all the players so playing can be fun like it should be.

Ah well. I have to zoom back to work, so I will just continue to ponder for now. :)
