2. Taiwan. Specifically, for the Taipei 101 Run-Up. Because the Burj Khalifa doesn't have a stair climb race and I like Chinese food anyway.
3. Somewhere on New Zealand's South Island where I could see wild kea parrots; I've always wanted to visit somewhere in the Southern Hemisphere and see the constellations we don't get north of the equator, and keas are fascinating and live in an environment that I'd like to take a vacation in anyway.
Runners-up mostly include far northern places with very few people. I live in the most densely populated state in the Union and I work in New York Freakin' City. I'm entitled to want to visit places where there aren't people, kthx.
Oh god, Keas. I know, parrots. But those beaks! Their omnivorous diet! Their habit of exploring things by tearing it apart! And they are curious and intelligent.
And then the farmers' stories about them eating the kidneys right out of live sheep!
New Zealand is wonderful and keas and kakas are beautiful birds. If you ever get close to a trip let me know and I will give you so many ideas as it's one of my favorite places in the world.
I'm assuming it's places I haven't been, since I really want return trips to Israel and London and San Francisco. Also assuming it's places we can get to, so leaving off Mars.
1. Australia. It sounds like it's almost another planet. Also, it would be nice to meet my online friends from there.
2. Yellowstone Park. Been to Yosemite, and it was amazing. I think Yellowstone would exceed it.
3. Paris, for the culture and history, though the idea of vacationing in a place that has its current levels of anti-Semitism makes me antsy.
There are too many places I'd love to visit and I always fear I'll never get around to them.
1. Egypt. Not because I just finished reading The Throne of Fire, but because I've always been fascinated by the ancient Egyptian civilization and culture. Back when I could go to the Field Museum, I could spend an entire day in the Inside Ancient Egypt exhibit.
2. All of Europe? For the history, the architecture, and the scenery, mostly. But, if I have to be more specific, I suppose I'll settle on the UK. I don't know if I could get any more specific than that.
3. India. For the temples, the art, the history.
Right now though, I'd be happy to get over to the Harry Potter Wizarding World and try some damn butterbeer!
1. San Francisco again, now that I'm not seven. I don't remember much of it and want to see it again before it shakes itself into the Pacific.
2. London, because London. When my parents went to the UK, I passed, partly because I had no money and partly because they were already going with two other people; trying to pack what four people wanted to do into three weeks was going to be hard enough without me wanting to do stuff like go to St. James Park and feed the ducks.
3. Prague. I hear it's gorgeous. Buuuut I'd need someone who knows either Czech or German for that, as I know neither except in tiny bits.
Nauvoo, Illinois. A major site in the history of my church.
Washington D.C. area, particularly the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum and the various monuments and memorials in the city itself. So much history and interest there.
Aaaand... I'm not coming up with a third one. Sorry, you only get two out of me. Unless you'll take Mars.
The homes of Terry Pratchett (somewhere in Wiltshire) and Neil Gaiman (somewhere in the Minneapolis area), because I have permission to stalk both of them and I really should get on that... and Vancouver, for ReBoot pilgrimage reasons and because I hear it's very nice.
→ Lesotho. I want to go back so hard. I spent a month there as a reporter on assignment in 2005, and I left pieces of my heart in Mokhotlong, the village I spent the most time in. I want to go back and volunteer at the Touching Tiny Lives orphanage, and to see the barren beauty of sub-Saharan Africa's mountains again.
→ Turkey. So much history. I'd love to see the Black, Aegean, and Mediterranean seas, hike some mountains, and wander the streets. (And, bonus: I'm a stone's throw from Greece and Syria.)
→ Laos. I've never been to Asia. Laos looks gorgeous. I could see Vientiane and Luang Prabang! I think it would be a rockin' trip.
→ Marseille. I've wanted to go there ever since reading about Pytheas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pytheas) and I love French and Mediterranean cooking.
→ Japan. I've always loved Japanese culture but I'd likely want to spend my time out in the country visiting shrines rather than the urban centers.
→ The Isle of Man or perhaps the Isle of Skye. The Isle of Man simply because it's reputed to be the home of one of my favorite Irish deities, Manannan Mac Lir, and the Isle of Skye as it's reputed to be the origin of my father family name.
Or can I give up all three slots to be able to ride the entire line of the Orient Express?
Ugh, only three? So hard. I'll stick with places I've never been to (because there are a number of places I'd like to go back to).
1. Australia. Ever since I did a huge ISP (independent study project; remember those? haha) on Australia in grade 5, I've wanted to go. I just haven't had the chance yet.
2. Brazil. I want to tour EVERYWHERE, see all the buildings, hang out on the beaches, etc.
3. Israel. No, Greece. No, Israel. IDK! Okay, Greece. Just because so much of what I'm studying right now draws its roots from Greece.
Ahahaha, ISPs. You are bringing back so many memories. I did a huge one on tigers in fourth grade. We had to fill an entire bulletin board at the back of the classroom, and my dad even helped me build a makeshift ~habitat~ for Maynard, my stuffed tiger. (And by "helped me," I mean he built the entire thing while I provided creative art direction.) I got the max amount of points; I regret nothing.
I remember a project where we had to build an abacus back in grade 6(?). My dad scoffed at the idea of building one out of macaroni bits or marshmallows, or elastic bands or whatever, so he made one out of stained wood, coloured wooden beads, and little GOLD FEET for me instead. (I also did the supervising. Obvs.)
My teacher wanted to keep it. I told her 'no'. hahaha.
Does it make me a poseur to want to visit Tibet because of game-related research?
Don't ask me, I'm trying to find out when I can get the six hour tour of the Titan Missile Museum before heading out on a bike into the area around Tucson to see if I can scout out locations for Caesar's Legion's hq.
Fallout research. Caesar's Legion is the main antagonist group in Fallout New Vegas- they've basically taken over all of Arizona. And the Titan Missile Museum is the live Titan II nuclear missile silo fifteen miles south of Tucson, which is undoubtedly a nice place to visit but the major reason I wanna go there is because Fallout got me interested in nuclear history.
This is hard as there are so many places I want to go back to but I'll do new ones first.
1-Europe which is partly new and partly going back. My brother's in Paris and I want to meet many millimuns. So focus on France, Germany and I'd love to actually make it to Italy.
2-Australia-I spent a week in Sydney when I lived in NZ and that was not enough time at all.
3-Road trip of the US to see all the millimuns I can but with a focus on the Southwest as I've never been there before.
1. Iceland, because my sister has been many times and keeps telling wondrous things; I want to see for myself.
2. Egypt, for the spirit of revolution and for lots and lots of ancient history.
3. Mauritius, because it appears to be The Island, with everything that makes a tropical island, and eclectic culture between Africa, India, and Creoles. So many places wrapped into one, minus the mass tourism.
(Using this account because it's my only pay one and I have no addblock installed on this browser...) Three new places.
Well, Japan is on that list. For the terrible combination of tourist type things, shopping and indulging my hobby of taking pictures of interesting floors. Probably mostly in temples if I can get away with it.
After that, there are a few tours that go onto Antartica. Mostly so that I will have been on every continent.
And New York, becaues I haven't been in New York City proper that I can recall.
1) Boston. Because I have never been and I hear it's amazing.
2) Scotland. Because I have never been and it's always been on my list.
3) Mexico and Australia are tied for third. Because I have never been (notice a theme), they have always been on my list, and I can dream up fabulous vacation adventures for each.
4) would be New Zealand, because I would love to go BACK.

1. The Titan Missile Museum outside of Tucson, AZ. Because it is a NUCLEAR MISSILE SILO and it is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC and really, how many times in your life are you going to get to say you have stood directly underneath a nuclear missile?
2. Taiwan. Specifically, for the Taipei 101 Run-Up. Because the Burj Khalifa doesn't have a stair climb race and I like Chinese food anyway.

Those are probably tall tales, but KEAS!

Only, you know, without the bloodshed/rape/torture/etc.
Does it make me a poseur to want to visit Tibet because of game-related research? Yeah...probably.
I would say Australia, but I'm deathly afraid of much of its wildlife. THEY HAVE LEECHES THAT CLIMB TREES THERE!
